- I ended up going here with Mitchell, Holly and Bruin today when we made the last minute choice to go here instead of Campton Hills. Bruin emailed the city asking about the Hurricane, and it turns out that they are planning to replace it soon and are saving up money to do so.
Location: Tri-State Fire Protection District at Plainfield and Clarendon Hills.
Testing Schedule: First Tuesday at 10
Test Occurred: 10AM
Its a shame to see that this one's days are numbered, but it had to happen eventually. Nice video!

@@ianssirensproductions7418 If ACA didn't make their blowers cheap when the Hurricanes were in production, this blower would not be an issue. I've heard the blowers leak oil a lot.
I can’t believe they actually fixed it...this poor thing is on life support at this point. Just hope someone can save it from scrap!

For anyone curious about what siren will replace this one: due to the fact that Fulton maintains this siren, it will most likely be replaced with a rotating tempest siren (an ASC T-128 or possibly a 135. Most likely a 128).
My only contradiction to this is that they have 2001s elsewhere in town. Dariens other Hurricane was replaced with a 130.
@@SirenDude1003 very interesting. You do have a good point. Is it possible that both braniff and Fulton work with this siren? I know it has both a fulton radio and FC 1-way.
@@thespiritstingray9359 I have no clue, maybe it has something to do with DuComm controlling this system. Idk what software they use to operate the systems around here though.
Nice to see it running again, I’m glad its gonna be replaced since this thing is showing its age and unreliableness, and for people mad about the replacement just remember peoples lives might be at risk and its for the best, and as long as someone takes it I’m excited for the replacement!

It may not be “broken” but, my god, it is very problematic. Its blower has had countless problems and if you listen, halfway through the test the blower starts to have issues again, as it has every other time its been filmed. This probably only works since theyve been working on it so it will keep working until they can afford a replacement.

UPDATE: As of 5/29/2021 This Siren has been replaced by a T-128
I'd love to have someone buy this from the district, this looks like one of the last Hurricanes and it would be a shame not to buy a rare-ish siren.

@@SirenDude1003 yes, a 2001-130 is the same decibel rating as a 2001-130, but the thing that makes a Hurricane better is the fact that it’s WAY rarer and better looking.
@@VintageCollections any 2001 is louder than a hurricane. 2001s are low maintenance and reliable, whereas this single hurricane has had to be repaired countless times over the last year alone. I used to follow the same logic you do until i heard a 2001 in person and started doing research on them. Why do you think Federal Signal has sold over 10,000 2001-130s if they aren't good? Hurricanes have always been reported to have countless issues. DeKalb, IL reported a number of problems with theirs. Rolling Meadows, IL reported theirs did not have the volume ACA claimed it did, Elk Grove Village, IL had a few problems with their 4 hurricanes, and Milwaukee, WI and Darien, IL as we all know have had far more than a few issues with theirs as well. Consider the safety of the citizens of Darien instead of siren enthusiasts having a cool, yet garbage, siren to foam over.

@@VintageCollections It needs to be replaced. Theres a difference between cooler and better you know. Hurricanes are cooler, 130s are better. if the power goes out in a storm this hurricane isnt doing shit. all youd hear is dariens other 2001s roar to life. you should reconsider

Hope it does tbh, while I love old sirens, this thing has been broken so many times it's just inexcusable when lives are on the line. I do hope however that it goes to a good home and isn't scrapped.
