In terms of the pecking order the recovery and salvage crews sit somewhere between the cleaners and the catering department. However their's is an essential function to the smooth running of a space program. Whether it's collecting crews that have messed up their landing coordinates, or picking up discarded rocket engines to be refurbished and sold off again in as new condition*, the life of a salvager is never dull. Most people seem to think you just press a button and all those crew memebers, crafts, engines and parts just magic their way back to the KSC. You're not of those people are you?
It has been a while since I created an atmospheric dropship and overall I'm quite happy with the design. The craft gets its name from an old design of mine called the Squark which I never got round to featuring in a video. I have to confess the performance and handling did take a back seat to the aesthetics, as I was determined to make the craft as compact as possible and have it blend in with the latest evolution of the Harpoon. This new and improved version is bigger, badder and more versatile then ever before. The main changes include a powered ramp for delivering cargo, supplies and vessels directly to the beachhead. A pair of bow thrusters allow the craft to edge itself back into the water once the payloads are delivered/collected. Quite a lot of thought has also gone into the crew seating and how they can safely access all areas of the vessel without falling overboard. Finally we have the Rapide which is very loosely based on the aircraft of the same name: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Havi... While it's not going to break any performance records this plucky aircraft is a hoot to fly and can cruise along indefinitely thanks to its electric power train.
For our soundtrack this week I've gone for the green option and have recycled a song I've used in the past (some years ago). It's by computer game maestro Tommy Tallarico and was originally featured in the PC game MDK which depressingly came out before some of you were even born. God I feel old. Anyway, I don't own the rights to the recording, this is fan love pure and simple. Well it is the Arctic or antarctic ice sheets so it's not as dangerous but still, mad respect
the last blooper made me cry because I laughed so much, the kerbal ragdolling madly before hitting water so fast he was sent several meters deep and then the derelict passing through the screen like a wheel from a destroyed part would do in a comic movie. Oh boy... thank for the laugh!
I really liked the sharks and the expression of the kerbal when finding the last part to recover!

I love the blooper/crash compilations you put in your videos. It shows that KSP is not as easy of a game as some UA-camrs make it look.

So did anyone else notice that the service bay on the first ship to be recovered spontaneously rotated 90° while it was off-camera?
When it landed it had the rocket pointed down, then a minute later it's pointed aft so it can use it to drive around.

I use a Mod called camera tools. I don't generally do tutorial vids but I may try and produce some in the future, I'll just have to buy a microphone first.

I thought they remade Kerbin textures. It still looks as cheap as ever, even with those mods. And don’t get me started about those trees... They have no excuse. If I was a KSP developer I would be embarrased to meet a player in person.
