Come with us, as we show you an alternative to the world famous Oktoberfest. The Weilheimer Volksfest is held in May every year, and boasts the same style beer tents, rides, and games as the famous Munich counterpart. Despite these similarities, the Weilheimer Volksfest remains almost completely local, with a friendlier and calmer atmosphere. Come with us as we show you how to party Oktoberfest style, like a local Bavarian.

Looks super fun! Love the dress!! 🤩
Thanks so much!
Never ever would I visit the Munich Oktoberfest. Those small Wine and Beer Fest all across Germany are much better and you find them all summer.
I love your energy, but I don’t know if I’d go that far. We clearly love all the other festivals on this channel, but there will only ever truly be the one Munich Oktoberfest!
Reminds me of the "Oide Wiesn" at Munich's Oktoberfest celebration. (Small entrance fee - was 2€ a few years ago). I think youll like it.
Yeah I tried to go, but it was too busy. Next year! :D

bro is living the dream
😭
Another awesome video from your channel. Love watching these hidden gems you share with us. I'm very impressed with your shooting abilities after a liter of beer!
Thanks so much!
We have had like 100 videos worth of practice haha.
Wow, I never thought that anyone would do a youtube vid about the Volksfest in Weilheim. I used to live in Weilheim for one year. I completely Fell in love with the main square and my partner loves the Kneip-facilities in the Park near the river. But we both thought that the Volksfest is a bit naff. The two langer Volksfests we really like though are the Gäubodenfest (09. - 19. Aug) and the Gillamoos (29.08. - 2.09.). The Gäubodenfest is the Oktoberfest without tourists and a bit more traditional, well worth a visit. Afterwards you can stroll in the old town of Straubing which is more than pleasant. The Gillamoos is in Abensberg, a typical small Bavarian town with a really pretty main square. The brewry is very sprcial. They specialise on Weizen and their dark Weizen is out of this world. Of course you can book brewry-tours. The owner of the brewry is a Fan of the architecture of Hundertwasser and has too much spare change. As everybody needs a hobby, he had himself a Hundertwasser-tower built, which looks like something out of Alice in Wonderland. That's a real great day out and I always take beer-loving relatives to Abensberg, as it's a great laugh.
We like Weilheim too! We kind of ended up going by chance. Some subscribers invited us, and it happened to be the day we were driving by on our way to Oberammergau with friends. We also found the fest a little small, but we liked it, and really wanted to drive home the fact that these festivals are everywhere. I think a lot of foreigners get very fixated on Oktoberfest when there are actually festivals everywhere all the time!
We are actually going to Abensberg. lol we have to use our Frühlingsfest vouchers.
Looks great without the mob scene of Octoberfest, keep these little known locations coming. The dirndl looked great as well;)
Thank you so much! 🥰
Will do!
you and girlfriend might be unheard, but content of vids are best of quality and fun.
both of you are my favourite. such a fun, beauty, always in a good mood. bavarian style is your best, mine also
welcome to bavaria, i love you. both.
Thank you so much! Tell your friends. :D
I have found that smaller events like the one here is typically advertised on placards along the roadside on fences, barns and the like. Naturally it includes dates, locations, sometimes hours and is a good way to track down these events while you're in the area. Have attended beer fests, wine fests, regional fire department celebrations and the like using this method. Thanks for the great video!
Thanks for the info. We did start to see these posters when we were driving, but I've never seen them in Munich :O
What a cool experience!!
Thanks! It really was!
🤣 I love listening to the glowing descriptions of being forced to drive!
How early was the festival when it started? Food and beer looked great. Also nice to hear politicians sound the same in any language. ;)
Great new dirndl...my wife commented that it actually looks comfortable compared to ones worn by others in the video (and your prior one, which I showed her later).
As always, guys, thanks for sharing another video of the great lives you have in Germany! All the best and looking forward to the promised journey in the mountains!
Rob
hahah danke. Just tryintgto keep it real lol
Yes, it is comfortable! it doesn't need to be taken a little for a perfect fit, but the material it very soft!
Gaubodenfest in Straubing is worth a visit. It is often described as the 2nd biggest Volksfest in Bavaria, so basically Oktoberfest without tourists. =)
Ahhh you are the second person to recommend this. We will have to go!
You have to no doubt! 7 tents and no tourists except you 😜 come visit us. Greetings from Straubing. Gäubodenvolksfest starts August 11th
@@93wii96 :D
Straubing has a Gaubodensvolksvest in May as well. Forgive my haphazard spelling. It is AMAZING! The historical nods to the Roman artifacts within the town are just so cool!
Awesome! Will try to visit.
Ein Prosit!!!! Oans, zwoa, drei, Gsuffa! Ein mas radler , bitte. Seeing all this is getting me Heimweh
Danke! :D
Great video! Another great beer festival even though it’s not Bavaria, is the St. Rupert’s festival in Salzburg the last week of September. I discovered it by chance last year while staying there.
Just googled this! We have to go! Thanks :)
Funny, I live in Weilheim!
Kinda jealous. It's a cute town!
@@NearFromHome I've been in and out of Weilheim since 91 and own a shop here. It's good that you made it to the fest here when you did because they just put out that there's no more after this year! No idea why...
@@kimo63kimo1 whaaaaaa :O
@@NearFromHomethey couldn't find an Organisator, but I think they have actually found one now
Man I wish I can go there 😪
It was great! You can usually find something like this in Bavaria April-September!
@@NearFromHome thank you 😊
Thank you for the great videos; they helped inspire us the come to Germany in a couple of weeks. Any festivals in Bavaria, that you are aware of, the weekend of June 24?
Thanks so much! Not that I am aware of, but I am sure there will be something!
Excellent video 🎥 I've never been to Germany it planning to. Any advice on which Volks Fest I can visit in September? Danke
September is Oktoberfest! Though Rosenheim has their Herbstfest around then too, and of course you’ll also get a lot of the cow parades (Almantrieb) - so I’d recommend checking out our other “Oktoberfest” videos.
@@NearFromHome cheers 🍺
Had a chat yesterday with Lauren In Germany complaining she didn't make you get up north yet......
We do have beer fests up here.
Lol she's great.
We will make it there eventually!
I prefer wine festivals - the mood vibe is different. Greetings from the north, Peter!
Is this a repost or am I really getting old?
:) No, though it is similar to some of our other “Oktoberfest” videos. We are hoping to make it a bit of a series if people like seeing all of these little festivals.
@@NearFromHome For sure we like the small festivals. I don't see myself taking my 5/yo to Oktoberfest but the small ones seem chill.
@@cocobunitacobuni8738 Yeah the smaller ones are a bit more family friendly!
Ein prosit Ein prosit love this sobg 😂
By the way I was in shtutgart festival much better then octoberfest
I also love this song.
I find that hard to believe 😅

Thanks so much! We have been meaning to get out to the Harz Mountains. It looks nice!
