I live with my grandparents and am basically their caretaker. I don’t mind the stupidity- their brains hold 7+ decades of information, I can understand why it’s harder to learn new things. What bothers me is the ones who ask for help and then refuse to listen. And my grandfather was like that before being elderly, so I’m not chocking it up to age, just something that seems common in boomers.
I will say though, my grandmother figured out video games on her own because she got sick of waiting for me to play farming sims so she could watch. I respect that, even if she stole my Wii and I had to buy another one lmao

She’s not in the right of mind sometimes (she once took a walk with my little sister without telling us and let the stove on) but she’s old and had a ton of stuff happen to her as well. I love her though. She’s amazing to talk to, Mainly since she forgets what you tell her haha.

I was with my grandparents yesterday, trying to show my grandfather how to use his computer. He was so frustrated trying to understand the difference between WiFi and 5G. He also has a car with a screen that he wants to use to make phone calls, but doesn’t want to receive texts when he drives. I was trying to explain the ways I could set it up for him, and he was so overwhelmed he got really emotional and said not to worry about it. He was upset because he has so many CDs that he wants to play in his car, and doesn’t understand how he can get the music on his phone to play it in the car because there isn’t a CD player built in. He went to the car radio place and they couldn’t find a CD unit that would work in his hybrid. There’s so much disconnect for people who aren’t technologically literate. It really sucks. My grandfather is an extremely intelligent man. Technology is totally lost on him, and he feels so overwhelmed by everything.

    • @maeikaa4427

Aw I can only imagine how frustrating that must be to have to try and learn all this new technology late in life.. if he never figured it out maybe he could 1) plug a portable cd player ( maybe find one in goodwill/ thrift store or online ) into the aux or if it has a USB plug in then you could download all the CDs on a flash drive 💗

    • @dariadaniellemusic

Did you and your grandpa ever try ripping the CDs onto a computer, and transferring them to his phone via a USB cable? in old peoples defense; their memory isn’t the best, so i feel like most of the time they just don’t remember. for example: i’ve worked at a retirement home for over two years… one of our residents still doesn’t know how to fix it when she’s presses input and the channel from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2 😭
