You gave the C to someone who isn't a natural leader, and it has a trickke down effect. I've yet to see Auston get pissed off and play with a chip on his shoulder. Sometimes you have to play angry!
he is too busy thinking about his next pair of shoes and flood pants and new earrring. same with the rest of them. they got the bag for nothing and now its all "i need a highlight reel celly goal for every goal for my insta-loser account"
True, but to be fair, he’s finishing way more checks and blocking a lot more shots. I think he’ll grow into it….just too bad he’s still not ready for it.
All this bluster about how Berube was gonna be different than Keefe, yet ultimately he's doing the same thing: Overplay the Core 4 and pray that everyone else can tread water.
I mean any coach is going to have their hands tied when those four make up 48.5% of the salary cap.. idk if any GM would be happy with benching or cutting those guys minutes down. Tough position to be in. Unless he could manage to find ways to make it that all 4 lines are rolling.
@@stoozii74 was thinking that too. It's these guys that handcuffed the team, so they are expected to be everything; or at least be better/tougher consistently. Every year the same deadline swap outs happen with what's left/slim pickings of Defenseman.
As a Blues fan, I will say, have patience... But also, Berube can only do so much. In the end, the players have to play. It's a step up from Keefe, but at the same time, not as monumental as everyone, except STL, was making it out to be.
The team is broken. It will fail in first round again. Why is anyone else fooling themselves with a new coach?? Doesn't matter. They will go on a good streak and things may feel great for awhile, but this team is broken so deeply they are in denial.
i love watching what majic mitch and willy the wizard do that berube could never do or creat on the ice BUT a little berube on the back door is priceless
KV is absolutely right but I'm afraid this bunch is more concerned with fasshion and video games. The tough mentality just isn't there and I can't see it changing.
So far in the Leafs first 13 games, I have seen very little difference between Berube and Keefe's coaching style and approach, to have the team play consistently, for 60 minutes , each and every game? Berube is trying to make each player accountable! On the other-hand, Keefe was too soft on his players, especially the core 4! Never a dull moment in Leafs World?
Rielly only hits players who score into empty nets, and from behind. Getting rid of Rielly would send a ripple effect and change the course of this persistent malaise that has been, and is the Muskoka 5
I'm a life long fan of the club. I'm in my early 60's. But I gotta say... this era of mountains of money is kinda not very interesting. Compounded is the over saturation of coverage. It's once again... uninteresting. Not sure how much longer I can hang in there. Perhaps I'm just nostalgic for Burns, Clark, Dougie and the lunchpail gang. Wake me up in the spring if we manage to punch a ticket to the dance.
Same BS every year. Nothing changes until Shanahan and his puppet GM are gone. They will be hard pressed to just make the playoffs this year. To hear they earned a well deserve point from a weaker team is a joke. The team they played doesn't have 4 All Star players making over 40 million. A major trade needs to be done but they don't have a Bill Zito kind of GM who can make good trades. We have a GM who traded away Tkachuk and Sam Bennet and let Johnny hockey walk away for nothing. That guy is now the GM of the Leaf's and he is not capable of making a blockbuster deal. Shanahan won't allow his puppet to do it. Any deal this GM makes has to be small. Little minds, little deals. This is why they never go anywhere. Cliff Fletcher was one of the the best GM they ever had and that's the type of GM this teams needs.
They don't go to the dam net all afraid. So many rebounds Saturday in front of St Louis net but no one there could of had a few goals. Plus you know the St Louis goalie has a temper so get in front of him.
Actually, Binnington came out and said last year that he's done "acting out". He played all last year without an incident and has continued this year. He admitted to acting out more than what he should have and has changed for the better. You're only one person, among the rest of the league to inform... but at least now you know. Binnington does not have a temper.
Crosby: I take less money so the team can be competitive.
Matthews: Everyone else should take less money.

I was wondering if he's ever captained a professional team. and not a charity/team/allstar event.

Bingo!

if they make it to the playoffs.
They have to get there first. But then yes, let the fail commence.
Maybe the lack of response to Marner is a reflection of how his teammates feel about him.
8:15 Versteeg SO ON POINT HERE with team toughness.
Schenner is "only" 6'1".
13 games ..... 6 wins ........ BERUBE'S SYSTEM DOESN'T NEED A "CORE 4" !!!!!
Dubas ruined this bunch by babying them.

With knowledge of brain injuries, it doesn't suprise me less and less players want to fight. I don't blame them.

So far? Has not meant much so far this year, as they have the identical record today as they did with the same number of games played last season.

The game starts Jan 1 2025 . The rest is baloney .

This team is a 1 line team with no power play. Kyle Dubas crippled this organization with his idiocracy.
yes. ryan reeves shouldve fought
Sorry, Berube WHO?!

Minnesota also has 15million cap penalty this year, just think when they have that money next year and future. They will smoke leafs.
Still going to fold like a cheap tent. Same core.

Get rid of shanny !!!!
Not at all imo. Keefer should have remained. Leafs management should go.
MacDermid will fight Reaves... if he's ever game! I reckon Reaves has lost his mojo.
