  • Hailed as the most faithfully filmed adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's legendary characters. This acclaimed series stars Ronald Howard as the world-famous sleuth and H. Marion Crawford in a different portrayal of Dr. Watson than usual.
    THE CASE OF THE GREYSTONE INSCRIPTION: Holmes and Watson are called to investigate Miss Channing's missing fiance,. The man apparently discovered the secret of a hidden treasure belonging to King Richard II which Laird Greystone wants to keep at any cost.

    My father worked in the film industry & knew Ronald Howard (Sherlock) who was a great guy, but it was very sad that with the success of this American Series of Sherlock Holmes in the USA, he thought he had it made but the show practically destroyed his acting career & after several B movies, in the 1970’s Ronald gave up acting & opened an art gallery. In the 1980’s he wrote a book ‘In Search of My Father Leslie Howard (the Scarlet Pimpernel actor) whose Scheduled plane was shot down by the Germans over the Bay of Biscay in June 1943 which haunted Ronald.
    I am delighted to at last get the chance to view this series, so thank you for uploading them& last week managed to purchase the full 39 episodes on DVD. 🌹

    One of my favorites! Know it verbatim…I love how everyone is always so well dressed…even the Greystones…holed up in a castle but looking like they’re heading out to a formal ceremony. That actress is so wholesome and beautiful.

    Очень интересный сериал, спасибо за него, приятно, что много серий, прекрасная игра. Иногда это комедийные серии несмотря на все эти убийства. Но, во всяком случае, Холмс и Ватсон всегда находят злодеев и отправляют их в тюрьму. Лейстрейд тоже вовремя помогает. Всегда приятно, что зло наказуемо. Увлекательно наблюдать, как Холмс распутывает все эти тайны и прорезает тьму острым лучом своего удивительного ума. Это мой любимый литературный герой, настоящий ангел спасения!

    What I don't like about this episode is that the owners of the treasure didn't get what was theirs, and were put in prison; if anything, the fiancee should have told them where it was. The treasure shouldn't have gone back to the crown.

    Wow, that treasure was hidden for 600 years! What became of it then? Did it all go to the Queen? Didn't that other Richard get a share? Where is it today? In a museum? I wonder how that candle Holmes lit when he entered managed to stay fresh enough to light. What became of the young man who they put in the tower? Was he rescued?

    • @arentkvh3431
      @arentkvh3431 5 років тому +3

      The "other Richard" lived 600 years ago (Richard the Second to be exact). It's rather hard for a dead person to receive things. The young man was rescued. remember the two villains were arrested so logically the young man was freed (and hopefully granted his professorship). The candle was able to stay lit because they were not in the room long enough for the flame to consume all of the oxygen that entered the chamber when the door was first opened. The treasure was returned to the crown, but citizens could make an application to receive a piece of it at the time (Watson tells Holmes that himself at the end). Even though I am a huge fan of Mr. Holmes, I must point out that unfortunately, he is a fictional character created by the brilliant mind of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and as such never existed.

      @doctorwho0077 Yes he was based on Dr. Joseph Bell and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was indeed a medical doctor, but you have missed the point I was making. The character Sherlock Holmes was fictional. He did not exist at all. He was based on a real person true, but the fact remains that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's stories, while excellent, are just works of fiction. Perhaps you should have read what I wrote a little more carefully, rather than jump to conclusions?
