  • Today's video is part of my new QUICK TIPS series of videos, which will show you quick and easy tips and tricks that will help you in your day-to-day design work... think of it as a Floral 'Hacks' series of videos!
In today's video, I show you how to use wood floral picks, the right way. Many florists I see at my programs and workshops make the easy mistake of attaching wood picks incorrectly.. in today's video I show you a simple but extremely secure way to attach them to whatever kind of stem you're using! I'm looking forward to showing you more tips in the weeks to come! #quicktips #woodpicks #floraldesign

Thanks for watching Alice! There are so many simple things that were never really taught. Only by seeing how poorly I see it done (especially when I have assistants who I have asked to wood-pick 20 or 30 groupings of Hypericum berries for instance). Only then... do you question how best to do this mechanics right. It all makes sense... but we are often so busy that we don't address it.

I went to floral School in '86. And, apparently, I am today years old when I learned how to use a wooden pic. This is why I'm a designer and you're a genius.

I bought these when visiting the USA l did not know what to do with them when l returned to the UK. Now l know not only what but how and they will be a great tool for inserting soft stems or very heavy stems securely into floral foam Thank you so much for this tip.

oh thank you for this comment, new self taught florist here and i couldn't figure out why we need the wood picks lol now i know how to insert soft stems and secure heavy stems better properly and even more important why to even use these wood picks hehe. any tips to stop the floral arch piece from rolling when installing? also lately my foam has been dripping on-site... never had this problem last year but lately regardless of type of foam i buy, how many days i let it kinda of 'dry out' ... the foam still seems to keep dripping.
Thanks for your awesome videos Hitmoi!!!!

It’s the little thing that we never quite had a real lesson on… but there’s always the best way… that best fulfills the purpose for which this little wood stick and wire was meant for. Xxx💚
