- It's time for another UPDATE to a Popular Technique!
In my 9th TIPS & TECHNIQUES Episode, I show you my Midollino Extender Technique!
The Midollino Extender is a technique that I use ALL THE TIME in my designs!! The curvilinear shape and malleability of it allows me to create structures and shapes with a beautiful sense of line and movement! The raw structure of the Midollino Extender itself allows for you to dress it up in so many different ways to better suit your design! There's a reason why it is one of my most used techniques!!
The Midollino Extender technique is an extremely simple base structure using Midollino Sticks (Oasis Floral Products) along with Aluminum Wire, U-Glue, and Bullion Wire. After the base extender is created, it's up to you to dress it up in whatever way you like! From Wool to Raffia to whatever other material you choose to use... these bendable curvilinear structures are so much fun to use in design!! Let me know how YOU use it in your work!!
Thanks again and keep on look out for future videos!! (and Make SURE TO SUBSCRIBE!)

The Midollino extenders are central to a lot of designs I create. They become the backbone or spine of my silhouettes!! Xxx
I made a pink purple and red one it is so much fun and looks amazing. I’m going to make a few for future design. Thank you your video is very clear.❤
Kim, making these becomes a little addictive when you begin to mix colors or adding texture within it, etc. I really enjoying making them to have on hand to embellish color in the design. Xxx💚

Wow mind blowing I’m taking a floral class now and I was thinking I don’t just want to sale flowers I want concept in with my flowers I couldn’t get it out I gave the concept in my mind couldn’t find the words to go with it. I pray and lord today today I started searching and there you are. Thank you for all your videos. May Gods bless you with good health and mind to continue with your work. Amen.

Have you tried using the extenders for base of floral crowns or haku leis? I was musing ideas while watching you and this thought keeps popping up.
I just put out a video on flower crown mechanics using the Midollino extenders. Xxx
Hi Hitomi, can i use SINGLE midollino stick with aluminum wire to be wrapped or it must be a bundle of midollinos? I tried to use a single stick and it is broken easily when being bent. I love your tips and tricks and watch your video clips with great interest. Your style is unique and so elegant.
Thanks a lot for sharing your tips!
Thanks for watching!! You should use minimum of 2or3 Midollino with aluminum wire - it takes several Midollino to make the extenders longer. Xxx
Hitomi Gilliam : wow! I am impressed by how fast you gets back with your reply, given the fact that you are busy and have many inquiries and questions to answer.
I will try making midollino extenders again using your advice above.
Thank you very much!
What benift does the medelino give if you're going to cover in wool? Would you get the same effect just using a couple of strands of aluminium wire...not so expensive either!
Hi @Carys Harrison, I use the wool to dress them up with different colours and texture, the wool texture itself also creates a great gluing surface if you need it. If you want to just create a base structure and leave it unfinished, you can definitely do that as well! Beyond the base structure, it's totally up to you however you'd like to finish it.
Mam u are a fashion creator ..i love the way you creat it ..but the madalino from where we can buy ..im in oman ...i like to creat somethin that you did ..its amazingly beautyfull
@flower perera It's a product from Oasis Floral Products, so if you're familiar with them you might be able to get it! Let me know so that I can pass along the info! Thanks so much!
Beautiful piece but what gauge of aluminum wire do you use?
Thanks for watching!! It’s 10ga. Aluminum wire. Xxx
❤️❤️❤️
Thank you!! Xxx❤️
Do you know where I can purchase midolino? Looking everywhere and can’t find it
It is now in very short supply. I heard that Smithers-Oasis might be discontinuing them, which would be very sad. I substitute them with cane, which is available online. Xxx💚
Hi whats calked the white that first you design it?the materials name?
Or could you please type the name of materials?thnxx
It is called Midollino, but it is no longer available… so now look for rattan or round reed from basket weaving store. Use #3 or 4 grade. Xxx💚
Please help me about buying Medallion!!! Where can I buy it as a wholesale??? Thanks
There’s a real shortage since Smithers decided to take it out of their line. Accent Decor still stock leftovers… silver only. The last I heard online sales through Joann’s and/or buy them in rolls as Reed rattan through basket weaving and rattan craft suppliers. Xxx💚
It’s MIDOLLINO. FYI so you can do the online sesrch.
thank you@@HitomiGilliam
Can you write english sub titles to your materials...
All the materials I used are mentioned in the video description. I used Aluminum wire, Midollino sticks, UGlu dashes, yarn and bullion wire.
