I have fell in love with this piece. I put it on a brushed/polished bracelet, and all I can say is WOW. I had over 15 watches in my collection, but because of the SARB's versatility I now only have 3. A G-Shock, speedmaster, and my trusty SARB.
I own the Sarb 035 and it will never leave my collection - I never get bored going back to it in my rotation. I would say I enjoy it more each time I wear it. For me the movement is the only real let down - my skx007 is more accurate out the box! If it had a good AR coating and didn't have the small gap between the end link and bracelet I think it would be the perfect watch! Hoping to put it on a colareb strap next. Thanks for the content - enjoy watching your videos.
Just found your channel. Your reviews are great. It’s like chilling with a buddy across the table and talking watches. Good stuff! SARB is on the short list. Just got a PADI Turtle for my first Seiko. Dunno why it took me so long.
@@christopher8048 yes, this watch has been in production for a while and makes way for more inflated models. Not only the GS model you mentioned but the presage lines. Makes no sense to keep this around when they are adding another zero to the price of very similar models. So you're spot on, I have sarb033 sitting alongside other dressy pieces from pp and lange for example, and this watch makes me so comfortable that I have no urge or desire for a GS. Wonderful watches though
Fantastic images. The sarb 035 is very precisely manufactured and finely detailed. The case work and dial are remarkable and demonstrate what seiko can do for the money if they feel its expected. Thanks for the look.
I think business-wise they realise they hit a limit in price to quality ratio. Considerating the prices of the newest Presages and Premier, we can clearly see that you need to pay aprox 40% more to obtain the same quality as a SARB. It must be a strategy for making collectible classics and raising the price of the mid-range products at the same time.
I’m so happy I also picked up brand new SARB033 from gnomon. I ordered a super oyster from strapcode and man what a difference that makes too. I also have no idea why this line as well as the SARG009 were discontinued. No, if only I could find a SARG009 new...
Are you sure about the anti reflective coating on the crystal? I was under the impression that Seiko didn't use any coating on the SARB line. Good luck. I've had my 035 and 033 since 2017. I love them, but am partial to
I didn't look it up, the way it was reflecting appeared to me like it did, especially compared to my black dial Hamilton, which definitely does not have it. Now I need to do a comparison video haha
Yup they have no AR coating. I owned a SARB033 and sold it. The reflections were awful. Got the SARB035 instead and like it better. The lack of AR isn’t as much of an issue with the cream dial.
I think the SARB03x is more akin to the Aqua Terra rather than the Seamaster. I put mine on a Strapcode Oyster with polished center links and it really enhances the look. Plus the clasp has many more micro adjustment positions than the OEM bracelet which gives me a more precise fit. Glad I got mine before the discontinuation announcement. I think Seiko did that to differentiate price tiers between 4R3x movements and 6R15 movements with the latter being a premium price category.
@@joshuaC. if the Jubilee came in a non-Angus version, I would have gone with that one, but as it is, I think it's too thick and, well dare I say it, beefy, sorry. 🤦🏻♂️ I even wound up swapping out the Strapcode clasp on the Oyster for something slimmer because it was just too thick and there was a massive gap between the links and the clasp. Felt like I had a pack of chewing gum on my wrist. Frankly, sometimes I think their products are simply over engineered for marketing purposes. Had to have them send me two spare links because the screw head came completely off the pin of one and another screw was so tight in the link I couldn't even remove it with locking forceps. those links are now permanently stuck together. Their tolerances are excessively tight. Actually too tight. There is no reason that they need to make different end links for an 033 and an 035 - just make them with more play to fit both cases. And it would make installation much easier too. My first rule is always simple is better. OK, rant about Strapcode over and of course, just my 2¢ as always. 😬
@@stevenwymor1398 haha one of my screw heads came off too, but luckily i live in hk so I can have it replaced easily. I agree with you with it being beefy but it just looks too good and I feel it can also be easily dressed up or down, also my two cents😁
Joshua C. I almost bought it. Now you’ve almost convinced me. But, as my dad used to say when I was a kid, “Money doesn’t grow on trees.” And being a smart ass, I used to say, “Well, actually, it kinda does. It is just paper.” Maybe when my Oyster gets scuffed beyond repair, I’ll spring for the Angus Jubilee. If I have any money left. I’m sure I will have bought a few more watches by then.
My more expensive watches have been collecting dust since I got a 035. Grabbed an assortment of straps and now I have an unconventional sports watch that I can throw on a black leather strap and wear to a wedding. Ultimate travel watch.
It's sad and not understandable why they discontiniued this beautiful watch. There aren't many cheap but high quality watches under 40mm, and this was one of the best. I'd buy one if the priced wouldn't have skyrocketed due to the discontinuation.
It is such a japanese design. I can see samurai, tokyo whiskey bar and kanji in there. Understated and flashy at the same time. But imo a very dressy watch so i kinda disagree about the void that it leaves.
It kind of surprised me in that I thought the black dial would look smaller than the 035, but it was the opposite. I'm very happy with the wrist presence of this watch.
Hello, great video. I am considering purchasing this watch from gnomon watches, but am unsure of what additional charges there are for international orders (I'm in the US). Any advice?
The best Seiko watch under $500. Why does Gnomon send a Nato with PVD hardware though? I just bought a Steinhart from them and got a nato with pvd hardware which doesn't match the watch case at all. Oh well, I guess it is a bonus strap.
I find myself wondering how long the "brand new" stock is going to last, as adding to the collection is a bit of a post summer thing when one is a student...
They “discontinued” them to inflate the price and it’s obviously worked. We recently learned that several new SARBS shipped last summer, months after announcing the discontinuation.
I believe the Sarx line is a better in between line than the sarb. I owned the sarb033 but after selling it and getting the SARX045 I truly believe the sarx is a better everyday line.
Agree. Worth spending more for the SARX line - far superior bracelets with diashield, AR coating, and just nicer finishing. Smallest is 39, which is fine for slender wrist.
watching the video with the SARB033 on my wrist :) after wearing the hell out of it I have only one minor complaint: it would look better without lume. the section on the hands where the lume ends looks "disconnected" in daylight and for some reaason my eyes always look at that very spot ;)
Thomas Stöberl For me the lume makes this piece so versatile, really aiding me in dimly lit areas where otherwise I would not be able to read the dial.
Nice video. I am so glad I bought a 033 back in May '20. The price has really shot up on 3 months--it's crazy. Great close-ups and review of the specs. No matter what I do with my small collection, the 033 will stay.
I don’t know. Maybe it’s because I watched a hundred videos about how this watch WAS such a great deal that there’s no way I’m paying $500 for it. It’s weird to be new to watches, hear non stop about how Seiko is where the value is, at the exact moment in history that Seiko decides to shed it’s affordable image and discontinue nearly every well reviewed affordable watch they have. Why bother? For the same price I can get better specs from micro’s, or street cred and an ETA with entry level Swiss! I get that this is their issue but they force my hand. I feel like I’ll get the least value out of Seiko now.
Owned both the Sarb033 and the sarb035 Just to small for me Seiko never should have d/c’d these models Now own a 2018 no date Submariner and have never looked back I do love the needle-like second hand

I don't get why Seiko would stop producing the SARBs, nor do I get why they (apparently) are discontinuing the SNA411.
