Hezbollah pager attack: a new war frontier?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 вер 2024
- Multiple reports suggest that Israel’s spy agency Mossad placed explosives in thousands of Hezbollah pagers. They subsequently detonated, and according to Lebanon’s health ministry, at least 12 people were killed, and at least 2,750 are in hospital.
Is Israel behind the attack? What does this mean for tensions between Lebanon and Israel - could Israel find itself fighting a war on two fronts?

Detonating thousands of explosives at once with only a vague idea of who is handling them and no idea about who else would be around at the time of the blast is reckless. All they knew was that Hezbollah ordered the pagers. Hezbollah also told it's people to get rid of the cell phones of their family as well as their own, so there's no doubt that some of those pagers found their way to civilians related to the fighters.
@@TheSkyheart5 Well if the Hezbollah terrorists stop firing rockets indiscriminately into northern Israel, then Israelis would not need to attack them in this way. Do you really think there would be more collator death in this attack from Israel than the Hezbollah attacks on Israel?

No criticism over the daily attacks on Israel.
Stop attacking Isreal and they won't attack back.

Calling the most surgical large scale military operation in history reckless is reckless.
Typical of western media, pandering to the islamofascist narrative
According to BBcC, nearly 20% of fatalities are children. Unless Israel's intention is to execute children, then you have a very loose definition of what 'surgical military operation' means.
Absolutely. Did he expect Israel to map out where the pager users were to be at so that there would be no civilian casualties? He hasn’t called Hezbollah firing thousands of rockets to kill millions of Israelis “reckless”.
How would you react if it was the Iranian intelligence doing this to his enemies?
lulz
Israel wants to push Hezbollah back from its border, in line with the UN security council resolution 1701 that seeks to demilitarise the area south of the Litani river.
It's not just some vague wish of Israel, but backed up by the UN.
Starting a war and they moaning that the person you attacked retaliated. Stop holding Israel to a higher standard than those who hate them
"Starting a war and they moaning that the person you attacked retaliated". Are we talking Hezbollah or Putin here? I guess it applies to both.
If it's true, we must agree that Mossad is the most intelligent secret service organisation on earth, exceeding those of KGB, CIA, FBI, MI5 and yata yata yata ...

Genius. Can you imagine how paranoid they are now?
Everything explodes now. You could argue that Israel can guarantee pagers mostly end up in Hezbollah hand, but now it is clear that no device is safe in any corner of Lebanon.

Reckless attack? So what do you call the indiscriminate rocket attacks?
I think the commentator is getting quite a bit of undeserved flak for his comments. This guy was not defending Hezbollah's rocket attacks or comparing them to the pager attack, he was also clear a number of times to point out that Israel was targeting terrorists and the existence civilian casualties did not violate international law.
I'm fine with someone feeling like Israel was justified in doing this, but also being concerned about the loss of civilian life particularly children (if there did end up being children casualties). I wouldn't characterize it as reckless myself, I'm sure Israel made a considered decision in that regard and to your point it's in retaliation for Hezbollah indiscriminately shooting rockets at them. But I wouldn't extend this guy characterizing it as reckless to be as if he's implying its the same thing as what Hezbollah is doing. Let's keep the anger pointed at the real enemies.
@@dz_ca This is as far from reckless as any action ever taken by any country ever! These pagers are issued to Jihadist terrorists - be careful of the company you keep if you are near one!
Even more reckless?
@MDCDiGiPiCs What Israel just committed is called "terrorism" when one isn't being partisan and biased.
Ex BBC reporter calling this “reckless” is complete nonsense. Absolutely ridiculous. Incredibly precise.
Ahh, the classic _“You’re either with us or against us.”_ argument.
Detonating thousands of explosives without any knowledge of their actual location is the opposite of precise. Israel just played the odds that because the pagers were bought for Hezbollah that they would more likely than not be near it when the explosion occurred. They might of inured many Hezbollah members but a lot of civilians were also unfortunate to be with or near those pagers when the explosions started.

Were any civilians killed or seriously injured?
It’s possible that by the numbers this was actually a more precise attack than approaches like drone-strikes.
BBC, bought and paid for by Islamists. Their opinions are always pasty towards Israel. Humorless
We keep hearing that even a 1:1 kill ratio of enemy combatants to civilians is very good in an urban warfare scenario. Israel (presumably) managed to take thousands of Hezbollah fighters/leaders out of commission with the deaths of 2 girls. The death of any little child is tragic, but what would the number of civilian casualties have been if Israel had taken out this many Hezbollah fighters using conventional warfare? No matter what Israel does, it will come under condemnation while it fights forces that want to wipe it from existence.
Ps…the difference between Israel and Hamas/Hezbollah is that those little girls’ deaths were tragic collateral damage for Israel, not their intended targets.
Genius Israelis
A brilliant hit
Reckless? How friggin' precise does the IDF have to be from your nutty POV?
As a matter of war, you can't get more precise or more moral than how the IDF have conducted themselves.

Reckless attack? Didn't take into account civilian bystanders? Have you seen the photage? Have you seen how in mist cases people standing right beside the targets weren't even injured? Sorry, but the evidence show to the exact opposite. This was a highly targeted attack, using small amount of explosives, making the explosions less deadly while lowering the danger of innocent bystanders being injured. Sadly, this danger was not 0% ... which it never is ... but way way better than other possible attacks. And before you say Israel doesn't need to attack, just a reminder of the daily missile attacks from Lebanon into Israel, for almost a year(!!!), forcing tens of thousands of Israelis to leave their homes in the north of Israel, nit to mention the civilian deaths and injuries due to these attacks. But hey, I guess nithing Israel does, apart for rolling over and dying, will not be a justified action 🤷♂️

Reckless!? Can someone suggest a more targeted attack than exploding devices that you know are worn only by enemy combatants? Does this guy expect the Israelis to fight a war with no civilian casualties at all? This guy is a bad joke.
How do you know they were only worn by combatants? When Hezbollah sent the warning to it's members to get rid of their cell phones, they also said to do the same for their families. Those pagers could of just as easily been given out as replacements for the families phones as well as the fighters.
