I get so much out of every episode Kent. I never miss one. But this one is more special than any. Your insight and perspective on cowboy and ranch cooking is so valuable to us all. We love campfire and cast iron cooking, but should never forget where it all started. Thank you and Shannon so much for all that you add to our lives.
Appreciate your videos especially the hats off to the military service men. Coming from a family who has multiple members in the service and a discharged army reserve.
I was almost 60 years old when I discovered how much of my life had been spent earning a paycheck with no true mission or purpose to my life. I am so glad to hear in your story how much of your life mission and purpose being a cowboy cook has fulfilled. You truly are a blessed man sir, and I am privileged to have watched your story. When I get back behind the wheel of my 18 wheeler in the morning and pursue my ( late in life) career change, and fulfill my mission and purpose. Which is to get the frozen products you cooks need to the grocery store. I'm going to remember to thank The Lord in Heaven above for one more day of mission and purpose. Thank you sir for a powerful reminder.
How can you use people like that and don't even have no feels are you a monster I would never just throw people away like that I don't love anyone anymore I would never do anything ever
Kent. You are a large breath of fresh air. When I watch you I am transported to another time and it makes me feel good. Real good. I really look forward to your notice’s and I listen to everyone of them. Thank you Kent.
I love the facts that you're Soft spoken, humble, kind, a great teacher on cooking and most of all is that you're a Christian and God fearing man. Thanks to you and Shannon for all you do.
I have watched so many of Kent’s videos that have helped me cook and taught me life lessons. Thank you Kent and Shannon for preaching that daily life is about hard work, commitment, dedication, and devotion to God. That, makes the food worth the time.
Kent. This is the first time I've ever heard this from you. I really felt a great connection to you and what you do. Everything you said about cooking has been what kept me cooking. When I do camp cooking, I live for smiling faces and usually don't have to do much heavy duty washing because the people eating my foods ate every bite of it. I recently got into chuckwagon cooking in the last 8 years but have done Dutch Oven cooking for many years and you talking about your Momma letting you help her was exactly how I started. My greatest reward in cooking for people is the smiles on their faces and hearing the talking and laughing in camp. I too as you do. Serve a Savior named Jesus. I love to call myself a cook for the King because I've done a lot of church cooking as well. I am grateful that God has allowed me to cook. It give me much joy and pleasure. I'm hoping to be able to attend many cooking events for our veterans, for churches and especially for historical purposes like for our young people to keep our history and heritage alive. Kent and Shannon. Thank you for blessing our hearts. God loves you, and so do so many of us. I hope to be able to attend events and help people along. Keep up the fantastic work. Bill Shipley

Cody WY, just outside of Yellowstonen, routinely gets high winds like this all the time. We lived in LaGrange WY for three years while attending BIble College there. This only happened once while we were there - 50 mph winds sustained over three consecutive days. If it came from one direction it would be tolerable. No, it came from all directions and from every vector possible. I nicknamed Cheyenne "The Hair Dryer" because of the hot summer winds that would blow through there. I'm back in high country Arizona now but I must admit, I sure do miss the people of Wyoming. Best folk I've ever met. Thanks for making this video and all your videos.
One of the best videos I have ever watched. God bless you Kent and Shannon. The cowboys had it rough, but Cooky had a job that must never fail! No fast food or convenience stores. What a hard but rewarding job. My hat goes off to all of you. If more young people only knew what “making ends meet” only meant!

I always look forward to your videos! BTW...at one time I commanded the little National Guard Armory on FM 338 in Wellington. I was working a pipeline that ran from Guernsey, WY to Wichita, KS. The section of the line I worked on ran from west of Sterling, CO to Tescott, KS. I had my 41ft travel trailer parked in Wakeeney, KS and was asked to relocate to Yuma, CO. We left Wakeeney the sun was shining, by the time we got to Colby, KS we were in a blizzard. We made it to Yuma and set the trailer up and that night we experienced 100mph straight line winds! Luckily my trailer was parked long ways with the wind instead of broadside. It was a heck of a miserable ride it was! Love your content!!
My family watches you every week, and this by far as been one of our favorites. Thank you for sharing: your recipes, your words, your love. The pleasure and and honor our ours, bless you all!
My God, I'm tearing up. What a vivid picture you paint. Thank you Kent. Please do this often, especially because it's all true. Love your photos. The next one will be about how you met your wife and grew together.
Kent, I love your stories! I grew up on the Crescent J ranch in Florida, but I was too young to really know what was going on as daddy moved back to Tennessee when I was real young. Your stories are near and dear to my heart because daddy was always a God fearing cowboy at heart and cut everybody a square deal always, including us kids all the time.
Thank you Kent and Shannon for being an inspiration to those of us who spend too much time indoors. You really are blessed. I have been a big fan for years. You have inspired my cooking for some time now.
When I need to scrape off the worst of the internet, I come here for good honest pure content. Your kind manner and amazing recipes will keep me coming back thanks for all you do! 🇺🇸❤👍
I loved this Kent, thank you so much!! I wish my dad was still here to watch you. He was always a cowboy!! Those night sounds in the country are the prettiest music there is!! God Bless you and Shan, and all those puppies! I love it when you pull us in for that hug!!!! Thank you!
The stars at night are fantastic!! To go out on a country road where there are no lights, look into the sky and see the amazing display of stars fills you with wonder at how many there are! God is such an awesome Creator! Fills my heart with joy!
Well Ken, I'd sure loved to have you as a Mess Sgt in the Army back in the day. Now that would have been a blessing. Thanks for what you do and all you share with us.
Thank you for sharing all this with us Kent, this channel is so much more than recipes to so many and it is wonderful to hear the history and tales from the trail!
Just what I needed to hear today. Life can be tough for a cowboy on the prairie, or the cowboy at heart, who works in a high stress tech job. The cowboy way will see us through...God Bless Kent and Shannon...
You’re such a great storyteller! I’ve been watching you for a while and this was one of my favorites! I’ll start calling my crocs my “shut up dogs” And being an ICU/ER nurse it means so much to hear everyone’s appreciation, glad to have a day off today
Hi Kent, good to see you. Thank you for sharing this interesting piece of history, and the modern way of things. You chuck wagon cooks have your work cut out for you. My hat is off to the past and present chuck wagon cooks. You, Shan, and the pups have a very blessed week. Stay safe and stay well.
The way you describe it, being a cooky sounds so romantic and wonderful as well as hard work. Kent you’re an amazing man with an amazing life, you too Shannon!!
Kent, you brought this man to tears… Truly honored that you shared such special treasured memories. How I wish I could have been one of those lucky Cowboys to share one of your meals. You have a gift sir. Heck you have so many gifts and you share them with us. Thank you and may God continue to bless you, your wife and crew as you have blessed us.
I found many similarities between your love of cowboys, the wilds, and cooking to feed those men, to some of my own experiences in the mountains of North Idaho. Thank you. Quite a blessing.
Your story’s remind me of my grandfather he was a farmhand. He rode the rails looking for work during hard times then put up phone lines all thru the south west. He would make us lunch sometimes & always told the best tales.
I have been DO cooking for 25 plus years for a small group of camping and river floating friends & family. First up in the glorius morning to start coffee and carry a cup down to rivers edge, watch the mist rise and the wildlife come to drink. Had my share of rain and a couple of spin-offs from tornados . Also DO cook for our camping & trail riding friends. Biscuits & gravy, and Cowboy coffee, all about smiling faces and full bellys and the Lords Blessings~
This was a heartwarming change of pace. I love the Cowboy Kent character, but you do have some real stories to tell that need the depth of your full personality. Thanks for this insightful look. I particularly enjoyed hearing about the parts that hold meaning, joy, and satisfaction from your work.
I could listen to Kent all day ..warms my heart to know there is still cowboys and cookies ..Thank you very much for letting me live it without living it..
This was wonderful and really brings what you do home. The blessing you do everyday is what we should all be about. Bless the cowboys and all who work so hard to keep food on our tables. Thank you Kent and Shan
I'm watching it on the other side of the globe, first thing in the morning while having breakfast before going out to work, and I smile and just feel the day is going to be good. Thank you sir for what you are doing here on the channel! You are a breath of fresh air, you are. Hugs and much love from Saint Pete, the other one that is not in the US.
Kent, That was incredible! Thanks for that look into a day in the life of some some Good ol' boys and a gal! You have the rare gifts of being a great story teller and one helluva cook!
Thank you for sharing this. I’m retired military, retired trucker, retired two other jobs and even competed on the professional BBQ circuit for a while and I love your recipes...nearly all my cast iron is from my momma and she passed in 1979... I love and appreciate what you and Shan do..
I’m sorry if you hate this, but thank you for your service-both in the military & your truck driving. I think truckers are the single most under appreciated profession there is 💗
Semper Fi there... Retired military here as well. We know how to appreciate good chow either in the field... Same as the hands that Kent here serves. And good coffee as well☕️ What you said Kent about the hands not coming under the fly until you said it was ok, well that reminded me of my Grandma Reynolds...You didn't dare enter her kitchen unless she said so. She cooked on a wood burnin' stove up until 1982 when she got propane. Every afternoon, I'd bring in stove wood...Did that as part of my chores. She'd give me a few of the leftover biscuits with her home made jam on them and tell me what else to do....Or "Davey, you go along and help your Grandpa in the barn"...Best memories of growin up... American by birth...Hill folk by the grace of God here.
Doubt if you'll see this but thank you for these videos. I grew up in southeast Oklahoma in a small town called Talihina. You remind me of a lot of men I grew up around. We were always going camping, to rodeos and just enjoying the outdoors. Made a lot of our food just the way you do and it's nice to see it's still alive and well. Thank you Mr. Rollins and keep em coming.
Thank you Kent for this description of the Cowboy cook! I can sort of relate to this as a 30 year veteran of the Air Force and Air National Guard as a Services Specialist(Cook) many of deployments the cooks were up at 3 am cooking 3 meals Clean up and back to bed at 9 pm several times sleeping in back of our 2.5 ton truck with our supplies. We would wake up the site with our making of hobo coffee and the smell of bacon frying on our gas field ranges. Many of times our breakfast would set the tone for the day insuring that our fellow Airman had proper nourishment to start a long day! And for most cooks it was a job you loved and felt proud of when,as the Airmen were heading to duty locations, stopping and telling you how much they appreciated what we did and how good the meal was. We had a saying which I an sure would pertain to the cowboys, a happy troop(cowboy) is a well fed troop (cowboy)!
Thank you Cowboy Kent! This is an instant classic to your catalog of videos, truly enjoyed listening to these stories. This is such a great channel and I look forward to each and every upload.
I loved this video so much! I have immeasurable respect for the Cowboy lifestyle, and just as much for the "cookie" who keeps them fed in all kinda conditions! God bless you, Kent!
A prominent part of American history. My compliments to you and all of the other chuck wagon cooks from the past to present. May this tradition continue on into the future.
I'm Irish in Ireland. We love telling stories and we love listening to stories. I loved this video. Thank you so much Mr Rollins. Take care and mind yourself. 💚 from Ireland 🇮🇪.
Kent, thank you so much for sharing this day in the life; I feel really lucky I got to spend time in your world! I was wondering: how do you keep food cold when you're out in the field for days at a time? Of course, that's probably not a problem when it's below freezing outside :). Thanks again to you and Shannon for your wonderful videos!
I really enjoyed this episode. Great insight to the life of a Cowboy Cook. I remember taking baths in wash tubs with cold water when visiting my grandma out in the country in mexico and using outhouses., also those coyotes howling.. still hear them when I go night fishing. Love it.
I absolutely loved this episode! It was so engrossed in your stories. I can’t imagine cooking in some of those conditions. You have definitely found your passion. You are blessed, as are all the cowboys that were blessed with your cooking and friendly demeanor. Do some more of these!
I am from the other side of the world, in India, and there is nothing here that is culturally similar by far with anything that you paint when you tell your story… and yet, every time I find your story to be so utterly beautiful..!! Thank you 😊 🙏🏽
I have been watching you for a years. I can say I believe this was the best yet. I’d love to see more “story time” style videos. I can only imagine the stories you have from the trail.
Yes we really slept in tents and cooked in tents , once packed in with horses, the rest I did ranch hunts , I miss those days,Camp Cook Henry, formerly of Table Mountain Outfitters, you have me crying in my coffee this morning,Kent
I get so much out of every episode Kent. I never miss one. But this one is more special than any. Your insight and perspective on cowboy and ranch cooking is so valuable to us all.
@Hello Patrick how are you doing
Protect this cook, at all costs. Thank you, Chef!
After a long day, this story has made me smile a little today. Thank you Cowboy.
We thank you Kelley for watching
Such an enjoyable experience listening to this, Kent and Shannon. I hope you will mix in more of these stories with your cooking videos. Loved it!
I am thankful this historical rendition was delivered by you all. Makes this old man crave for a simpler time. Thank you
I loved this Kent, thank you so much!! I wish my dad was still here to watch you. He was always a cowboy!! Those night sounds in the country are the prettiest music there is!! God Bless you and Shan, and all those puppies! I love it when you pull us in for that hug!!!! Thank you!
Thanks Jackie
The stars at night must be fantastic.
@Hello Robert how are you doing
Thank you for sharing all this with us Kent, this channel is so much more than recipes to so many and it is wonderful to hear the history and tales from the trail!
We thank you for watching
I'm not even American but the way you describe things with such clarity and the way you paint the picture, I can see it in my imagination.
Just what I needed to hear today. Life can be tough for a cowboy on the prairie, or the cowboy at heart, who works in a high stress tech job. The cowboy way will see us through...God Bless Kent and Shannon...
Thanks Pete, you be safe my friend
You’re such a great storyteller! I’ve been watching you for a while and this was one of my favorites! I’ll start calling my crocs my “shut up dogs”
And being an ICU/ER nurse it means so much to hear everyone’s appreciation, glad to have a day off today
Thank you Penny
Historical. These videos will be referenced forever in the future as how it was done. Kent, you keep making your mark on history.
Absolutely loved this video, Kent! Could listen to you tell stories all day long. Love to you and the family
The way you describe it, being a cooky sounds so romantic and wonderful as well as hard work. Kent you’re an amazing man with an amazing life, you too Shannon!!
Thanks so much
Kent, you brought this man to tears… Truly honored that you shared such special treasured memories. How I wish I could have been one of those lucky Cowboys to share one of your meals. You have a gift sir. Heck you have so many gifts and you share them with us. Thank you and may God continue to bless you, your wife and crew as you have blessed us.
Thanks Richard so much
I found many similarities between your love of cowboys, the wilds, and cooking to feed those men, to some of my own experiences in the mountains of North Idaho.
Thank you. Quite a blessing.
Your story’s remind me of my grandfather he was a farmhand. He rode the rails looking for work during hard times then put up phone lines all thru the south west. He would make us lunch sometimes & always told the best tales.
@Hello Stephen how are you doing
I’m 38 and i wish this guy could read me bedtime stories
😂🙋♀️same!
I am 39 myself, and I want to be like this guy when I am his age.
Thank-you, Kent and Shan, for spoilin' cowboys and keepin' the rest of us in awe an ' entertained.......

Thank you for your kind acknowledgement of truckers....as a truck driver we appreciate what you guys do too!
And good coffee as well☕️
What you said Kent about the hands not coming under the fly until you said it was ok, well that reminded me of my Grandma Reynolds...You didn't dare enter her kitchen unless she said so.
Been to Talihina i have in the Kiamchis good country it is.Thanks for watching
We thank youTravis for watching
I loved this video so much! I have immeasurable respect for the Cowboy lifestyle, and just as much for the "cookie" who keeps them fed in all kinda conditions! God bless you, Kent!
We appreciate you watching and God Bless you
A prominent part of American history. My compliments to you and all of the other chuck wagon cooks from the past to present. May this tradition continue on into the future.
Would like to see an episode on a drive where the cooking is entirely from the chuck wagon.
We have some old videos on or channel of Cooking on the Bell Ranch
Thank you for this, it is always nice to hear the stories from a way of life not many get to experience in modern times. Blessings to you and Shan.
We thank you Jessica for watching
@@CowboyKentRollins of course! Nash (my 5 year old son) and I love to watch. Love and support from central Indiana.
We have good Yeti ice chest, and get restocked from headquarters once a week with grub and ice
I really enjoyed this episode. Great insight to the life of a Cowboy Cook. I remember taking baths in wash tubs with cold water when visiting my grandma out in the country in mexico and using outhouses., also those coyotes howling.. still hear them when I go night fishing. Love it.
Good times for sure, Thanks Joe for watching
Thanks Kent, this was a really interesting! Life as a camp cook sounds hard, but also pretty awesome!
Very rewarding it is
Thank you so much Kent. Yea, just warmed my hart. ~ your neighbor.
Your fear of God and your patriotism is a good omen. Thank you for that.
