This is a really cool guitar! I’m really happy that Fender actually brought back actual wide range hums for this Tele. It was extremely baffling why they advertised wide range pickups on other models last year when they were only made to look like wide range humbuckers. Same goes with the recent “gold foils” where they had to retract their initial ads/specs that listed them as such and then they didn’t clarify that they weren’t actually gold foils even after they went back and corrected it on their own website. To this day, there are dealers who still have the incorrect info (to no fault of their own), and customers who are under the impression that they have the real deal. I’m not trying to bash Fender, but my point is that this guitar is proof that they can produce vintage pickups and are actually different in today’s world. It would be really cool if they brought them back to life for real so customers can experience different pickups for the first time, or people who were around in the 70’s can re-experience them all over again, instead of simply making them decorative in nature, you know? Anyway, this is a really unique tele that still retains its spirit. Everything about its specs and features are different than the typical we all know and love - but we can still tell that it’s a telecaster. Great choice to show everyone. Thanks!
It's funny that it's such an issue to recreate these vintage pickups on these MAX spec (and price) guitars. I mean there's build quality that they probably can't keep up with like they used to when the Fender factory had like 700 actual artisans winding pickups, but surely you can put the effort in on the top line models right? I can't imagine it's a materials or diagram issue, why not just do it right and charge and extra $100 for the trouble? You know John Mayer and Bill from open mic are gonna buy the thing anyway.
Love this ‘75 Tele! The controls and that headstock, make it a stand out, sought after gem. You putting it through its paces, great tone and playing, John. Personally for me; the Tele has always been my favorite Fender model, this ‘75 reissue in particular, as the Les Paul is my number one from Gibson. Thanks John, and Zach for another deep dive! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I have one and in exactly the same colour. Finish quality on my guitar is superb and love this gear. I also have Vintage 2 Strat 1973 and also love it. These are guitars from music era which I love so much. Great review.
Ive had a tele deluxe since the 70s. Its a real sleeper. I agree with the comments about the looks, controls etc. Now one thing i will admit, the cunife pickups are magical, but its the neck pickup that is where the mojo is. Ive never been able to get the bridge to sing no matter what height i use. Maybe just my opinion. But the neck pickup is so good and the bridge is just so-so.
Wow an actually cool telecaster for once. Not sure if they slapped enough poly on it though, maybe dip the strings and controls in polyurethane to increase the unpleasant tactile response!
Cmone 50k! My green beauty awaits. Good review been very tempted to sell the few guitars I have to buy one of the vintage 2 strats. It's a good thing isuck on guitar and don't deserve it yet hah😂

Guitars on this channel sound like they actually sound when you get them home.
I had a 72 Thinline telecaster with the double hum buckers. I traded it for a Harley with some cash. Wish I still had it. But know I have a 53 reissue which I love the sound on it
This seems like a great guitar. Part of me wishes they found a way to have two volume and two tone pots and still use a tele style control plate. I think that would be pretty cool.
Quick question that's open to all... Who are your favorite Tele players? Mine are probably John 5, and Jimmy Page (I read once that he did the Stairway solo on a Telecaster). 😀 🎸
I think two cunifes sound good in thinline and not so much in this one. I've got AO Custom and is alright, albeit the neck could be wider. For dual humbucking I prefer Gibsons, for single coils other telecasters.
If you want a "Les Paul vibe telecaster" I think the most obvious choice would be the Fender custom FMT, half the price though not US-made, but mahogny body with carved maple top!
I owned that guitar for a long time. Killer tone and value for studio use. For live use though the neck dive was unbearable, so I ended up getting rid of it. But yes I agree with you, sound wise it is insane it is only 999 and looks cool too
I thought the original Deluxe had a 12" radius neck... both of my Strats and my Tele have them & it is a huge deal for me, having started with Gibsons.
I have a 3TS 1978 original deluxe and, honestly, besides the mojo factor, the fact that those swamp ask 70s bodies with poly means they were heavy day 1 and still heavy 45 years later, and the blending on the burst was almost clownishly lacking, so for a lighter repro with CUNIFE and a nice burst, with probably a little less beefy neck, you're probably getting a better night after night player with the AmProII 1975. I bet they would sell a lot of mocha/walnut finishes too. Also, think of it this way, if you have an older MIM tele deluxe, and you upgraded to CuNiFe ri pickups, you might be at a 800-1000 invested piece, so a jump to a new USA fender with CuNiFe stock could sway some people, ammirite?
I got a Fender Squire thinline tele, that I love the way it plays, and hate the way it sounds. It has those fake CuNiFe wide range pickups in it. It would be about 500. clams if I were to get the cunife pickups in it, and I do the work. I'm seriously considering it.
First thing that I notice is that 70% of the guitar is covered with plastic ! Must be much cheaper to mount all pots, pickups and switch on the plastic pick guard ? Sure sounds good though when someone can play well.
I’m having the same problem I often have with Teles. I want to like them, but it doesn’t do it for me. I have a set of Seth Lovers in one of my Gibsons and they’re terrific PAFs. I thought this Tele sounded the best in the middle/out of phase. I’m a neck player and it sounded too trebly for me.
The Vintera version is also nice and sometimes a bargain on Reverb. Thanks for featuring a Deluxe. These don’t get much love.

This is my favorite Tele ...nice demo and review as always !!!
I owned an original 1973 Tele Deluxe. Guitar was FANTASTIC!
I like the 3 screw neck plate over the 4 screw square plate, it ads to the esthetics of any guitar. Thanks for the demo.
The look of that guitar totally suits you!

Awesome playing.
Great sounding guitar! And great playing/demo too!
I will have to get a Tele sometime down the road.

How would you compare this with the American Pro II Tele Deluxe?
My goodness! Not even Trogly takes the neck off. This video just took a dark turn...
Trogly reviews Gibsons, Genius! 🙆♂️😆🤣
( Gibsons have set necks... )
@@lueyteledeluxe7457 Oh yeah, that's right. My bad. I guess Trogly needs to step up his game!
Does anybody can tell me the difference in sound between this line and the Vintage II 1972 Thinline?

Great review! Though I'd have to live in a van down by the river to afford that Telecaster. Hopefully there'll be a Squier version someday. 😀 🎸
The Squier classic vibe 70’s, not sure if it’s in that finish but a van by the river ain’t so bad.

can it twang on clean tone?
I need a Gibson to complete the collection

Cool guitar, although I'm not a fan of the three bolt neck configuration. Just my taste. Rock on!
Anyway to get your affiliate to ship to Canada?
In your opinion, which Fender American Vintage II Tele would sound better for mellow jazz, the 1972 Thinline tele or the 1975 deluxe tele?
My gut says the Thinline, but I will tell you - I REALLY liked this deluxe. Thanks for watching
@@PlayandTradeGuitars Does the radius of 7.25” as opposed to the 9.25 make a big difference for playing a genre with bending notes?
@@gregdarling8163
A Big yes.. you absolutly need to try 7.25 radius before buying..
Best Gibson tele is the King Fish tele!
Hi. The website says the neck radius is 7.25" while the review states 9.5". Please verify. Thanks.
Zzounds is incorrect.
Site says 9.5 in the specs
Fender site
7.5 in radius?
9.5
I thought the original Deluxe had a 12" radius neck... both of my Strats and my Tele have them & it is a huge deal for me, having started with Gibsons.

Woah...not sure you have the radius correct there?
The deluxes all had a more modern 9.5 radius, even in 1975.
Bro, you played the SHIT outta that fandango!

The thumbnail says "Best Gibson Tele"
My humor was lost on you haha, it's a Gibson-style Tele was my point. Thanks for watching
I would say "queue knife"
Those CuNiFe pickups make that guitar. I'm happy those are being made again. Now, if they could lower the price, I would be all in.
I think it should be pronounced Koo Nee Feh, since Cu is Latin for "Cuprum (copper)," Ni for Nickel and Fe for "Ferrum (Iron)."
It sounds like a tele, why ? :)
Great guitar. They were better in 75 but I did not love the 3 bolt and micro tilt neck. At $2.2k, it is priced rich!
Cunife was brought back before this series. Cunife has used for few years now by fender.
I don't think so...
That’s an awesome guitar but a bit rich for me these days. 😢
I thought it was Tim Shaw who designed the pickups for these new models. 🤷🏻♂️
The fact that there isn't a nitro version is sad
Because they were poly back in 75
Because maybe he knows that and simply prefers nitro
Yeah I played one today… beautiful guitar… sounded amazing… would prob have bought it, until I realised it was poly and would not age 🤦♂️
These used to be so much cheaper. I hate Fender's iphone like businesd model. $2400 for a Fender? Wtf
I'd like to like it but it's nowhere close to a vintage one. Even a 15 year old Mexican version which I own sounds and feels better.
Imagine having to get a tune-up right after you bought a car.

Seth Lovers are terrific pickups. Thanks, yea I really enjoy the middle position on a Tele
