This makes the sporty engine look sooo much better! Been wanting to do it to mine for awhile now.
Choppa
Looks good. Great idea to chop the cover. Ride safe and enjoy. 👍👊✌️
Thanks for watching, eventually we will bump into each other🤣
@@STLNik 👊👍
Very 😎
Thanks for watching
😎👍😎
Yes, looks cool. Nice job!
Looks cool 🔥👏🏻💥
I'd agree
Had to drop a like before even watching the video love this series! You rock brother
Thanks for the support
That definitely gives it a clean look, lm going to steal this idea for my sporty 👍🇺🇸
Have at it, thanks for watching!
Looks great, i'm thinking about doing that to mine.
A few companies make pan head style rocker box covers for Evo sportster motors and they would definitely compliment the trimmed cam cover
I've seen them but they're pricey for what they are.
Yeah, those grinders aren't to friendly to the fingers lol. Glad it wasn't any worse.
Won't be the last time🤣🤣🤣
@@STLNik yeah
In a 1200s the stock main jet is 195 and I find this paired with a 48 slow jet it works beautifully. Also, I’m running a louvered air cleaner with a two into exhaust. Good video here! Just purchased the carburetor off Amazon to test it against my 2000 rebuilt carb ;)
The jet sizing can be all over the place depending on year and emissions requirements. California bikes are set much leaner stock. Thanks for watching. Let me know how it worked out for you😀
@@STLNik is it possible to link the one you choose on amazon since there are so many different knock offs. Also is there any mods you do to it right out of the gate line the slide spring being any different size or quality than let’s say the stock one or a rebuild kit. Thanks again man! Love your videos and info
I always click on the first one that comes up. As for modifications I've always left them alone.
Does the Dale Earnhardt Coke cooler in the background work?
Ride safe have fun on your vacation.
I honestly don't know. It was given to me a couple months ago and I haven't gotten around to tinkering with it.
@@STLNik that would be cool in the new shop.
I could enjoy buying a Diet Coke out of it
Ride safe.
Looks way cool! Did you have to remove the timing module like that in order to pull the cover off?
You don't have to remove the ignition but I'm replacing it with an aftermarket so I cut the stock one.
@@STLNik ah ok. Did you have to remove the rockers to unload the pressure on the cams before removing the cover? I'm worried about the cams coming out with the cover.
I didn't but I was prepared for the possibility. There's a bolt behind the ignition that holds the rotor to one of the cams. As long as that bolt is out the cams shouldn't come out but shit happens.
So what do you do with the hole on the bottom towards the front?? I think it’s lined up in the cover w/the #4 cam front exhaust. Does Oil drip out of that hole in the cover or is that a breather hole or something thats cast in the cover?? I’ve seen vids where people Tig weld that hole up. Why? What’s it for. Does it affect anything cutting cover down & leaving hole on bottom of cover unplugged and open?
None of mine have this hole you speak of. Are you sure you aren't watching people cut an Iron head timing cover? It may also be an early evo.
@@STLNik Thanks. It must be only early Evo Sportys. Mine is a 1994 1200 Evo Sporty & it ends up w/a hole that'll leak oil on the bottom after you cut, shave etc the cover down. I ended up just tapping and putting a little Allen screw plug in the hole.
Did you have to loosen the rocker boxes to relieve tension on the cams?
No. Just make sure you remove the bolt from the ignition or else it'll pull the cams with the cover.
@@STLNiksweet. thanks for the reply!
Grease rag and electrical tape will fix that finger right up 😎👍
I've done that a few times 🤣
