Ball pattern
Start with a magic ring.
R1 - 6sc in magic ring, join to round beginning with slip st = 6sc
R2 - 2 sc in each sc, join to round beginning with slip st = 12sc
R3 - sc, 2sc into next st repeat to round beginning, join with slip st = 18
R4 - sc in next 2 st, 2sc into next st repeat to round beginning, join with slip st = 24
R5 - 1sc in each st, join to round beginning with slip st = 24
R6 - *sc in next 3 st, 2sc into next sc*, repeat to round beginning, join with slip st = 30
R7 - 1sc in each st, join to round beginning with slip st = 30
R8 - *sc in next 4 st, 2sc into next sc*, repeat to round beginning, join with slip st = 36
R9, 10 and 11 - sc in each st, join to round beginning with slip st = 36
R12 - *sc in next 4 st, 2sctog*, repeat to round beginning, join with slip st = 30
R13 - 1sc in each st, join to round beginning with slip st = 30
R14 - *sc in next 3 st, 2sctog*, repeat to round beginning, join with slip st = 24
R15 - 1sc in each st, join to round beginning with slip st = 24
R16 - *sc in next 2 st, 2sctog*, repeat to round beginning, join with slip st = 18
R17 - *sc in next st, 2sctog*, repeat to round beginning, join with slip st = 12
R18 - 2sctog repeat till round end - join with slip st = 6
Fasten off, leave long end. Use end to close the small opening left.
