The Genius of the Crowd by Charles Bukowski

- "They will believe your love incomplete, and then they will hate you... and their hatred will be perfect."
🔥 This is one of the sharpest poems from Charles Bukowski. It wasn't a surprise that most of you voted for it on the poll I did a couple of months ago. I have to confess that I was afraid of bringing this poem to life. It wasn't easy at all to envision it and because of that it took me quite some time to come up with something I like. But I finally did it and even though it is not perfect (like people's hatred), I'm happy with the results.
You are welcome to leave comments about the poem, the video or anything that comes to your mind!

The genius of the crowd
By Charles Bukowski
There is enough treachery, hatred violence absurdity in the average
human being to supply any given army on any given day
and the best at murder are those who preach against it
and the best at hate are those who preach love
and the best at war finally are those who preach peace
those who preach god, need god
those who preach peace do not have peace
those who preach peace do not have love
beware the preachers
beware the knowers
beware those who are always reading books
beware those who either detest poverty
or are proud of it
beware those quick to praise
for they need praise in return
beware those who are quick to censor
they are afraid of what they do not know
beware those who seek constant crowds for
they are nothing alone
beware the average man the average woman
beware their love, their love is average
seeks average
but there is genius in their hatred
there is enough genius in their hatred to kill you
to kill anybody
not wanting solitude
not understanding solitude
they will attempt to destroy anything
that differs from their own
not being able to create art
they will not understand art
they will consider their failure as creators
only as a failure of the world
not being able to love fully
they will believe your love incomplete
and then they will hate you
and their hatred will be perfect
like a shining diamond
like a knife
like a mountain
like a tiger
like hemlock

Words of absolute truth, thank you for making this 🙏❤️
Thanks, this was great!
As someone who hinges my entire identity on being against war, I cannot fail to acknowledge my own capacity for evil. I am nothing more than average and I am overeducated in using complex sounding language to compensate for my lack of liveliness and intelligence. I can't handle solitude because when I am alone, the realization dawns on me that I am alone because I am nothing special. This fuels the purported genius of my hatred in a self-perpetuating cycle of demise towards everyone around me. I simply cannot stand the failure of my own art and there is part of me that would rather watch the world end than to persist with my own purported art being destroyed. I can blame the police for corrupting me with violence, I can blame my family for corrupting me with contaminated blood and a hideous body, and I can blame the world for corrupting me with cultural hypnosis. In the end, I would be celebrated and well respected if I created better art. I would be loved by women if I truly had a soul. So in seeing that I am entirely average, what is the use in continuing to fill the world with the stupidity of my false morals and cheap mimicry? What is the use in continuing to blame women for never giving me the tender warmth of their hearts? What is the use in continuing to even go in public when my greatest use to the world is my own solitude? There is no use, because I am incapable of becoming as important as I have led myself to believe.
Don't be so hard on yourself, man. You are valuable as a person irrespective of ability or social rank. Don't pay too much mind to what this poem says. At the end of the day, this is just entertainment. Bukowski wasn't a deep thinker and you shouldn't base your entire existence on whether you happen to occupy the image he's putting forward in this poem.
The wisest people in history have all told us that the worth of a human being isn't based on their external abilities. The true path toward enlightenment and psychological maturity is to be able to value yourself without any reference to external abilities. That is to say, to become at peace within yourself irrespective of whether you are rich or powerful or whatever. That is true enlightenment and true maturity. Try and develop a self worth that is not dependent upon external circumstances. I hope you are doing well.
Hey man, thanks for sharing. It's okay to be hard on yourself, it's okay to take it easy on yourself. Your traversing through some difficult emotional terrains within yourself, getting to know yourself from the angle you can see yourself from right now.
clearly your delusional in some ways, but we all are. Bukowski was considered less than average his whole life and 99% of us are average people. Who cares man? You think a hidden brushstroke of genius lies in some people and not others? You think a hidden brushstroke lies in us all? and why is it important, so important, that you have a brushstroke of genius? I know it's hard man. Have you ever thought about leaving genius outside and shutting the door on it? Where does your idea of genius bring you? Somewhere other than here?
Brilliant!
Tight work
I am speechless.
yeah, It drew a tear
BTW....Kennedy 24....Let's go!

¡Gracias!
Great interpretation.
Yooooooo whatttttt this is soooo amazing
WHOA! Believe it. I have experienced it. Just couldn't put it into word. But Charles Bukowski could.
Can you say brilliant honesty, raw truth truth. One of my favourites.
Good job look great 👍🏾
And the consequences of these mimetic desires can result in the death of millions, or simply the ruining of a once close friendship.
Captivating :)
This one was intense!! I love it!
Looking forward to bluebird
@@vikingboer756 Thank you! I'm happy that you liked it! I'm going to make Hell is a Lonely Place and then Bluebird! Bluebird is even a bigger challenge!
@@Lorenacol Fantastic! Excited for both. Not sure if it’s me(because I’ve watched the others so many times:)) but I definitely noticed some frames used in previous videos. If I’m right, Perhaps avoid that? To reduce “repetitiveness”. I’m by no means qualified. Just an observation.
@@vikingboer756 thank you for the observation! I didn't even notice that lol. Can you point out maybe the time where they are? Just to have them in mind. I usually forget and sometimes I have to rewatch the videos to make sure I don't repeat them. Thanks!
@@Lorenacol Do it, please

Is there some form of this reading with this guys voice without some high pitched noise/violin in the background that almost murders people with sensory issues?
