PMC: The concept of time is like an endless Mobius strip. The past, the future, and the present can exist anywhere on the wave of time. Is the METALVERSE that lies beyond time a maze in which we have wandered into, or is it a destination we must reach?
SU-METAL: I love this song too.
MOAMETAL: I love it love it! It’s got a bit of a techno-like or futuristic sound, right?
SU-METAL: For sure. The lyrics are not just about living in the present, but also the past and future, moving freely back and forth between them. I think the English and Japanese lyrics on this album depict different personalities, and you can experience that in “Time Wave” as well. It’s unclear if it’s someone from the past or a prophet of the future, but I like lyrics where it’s like a different persona is throwing something at you, and I really like the way the verse starts.
MOAMETAL: "Time Wave” is easy listening. Songs with strong techno elements are pretty popular nowadays, and like this style a lot. It’s quite easy to groove to.
SU-METAL: Also its dance moves will definitely be super cool, so I’m looking forward to seeing what the choreography will look like once completed. I’m sure the fans will enjoy it a lot as well.

I would normally dislike everything about this song but I actually like it a lot. Babymetal has a way of making me think, maybe I dislike certain kinds of music because it's just never heard it done well. Not because it's bad music.

I feel that this is a pretty underrated song, and I've likewise come to realize that a lot of people are still surprised at how surprising Babymetal is in their genre flexing, to me it would be fair to call them a Hyper-Genre-Fusion-Metal Band, not just a Kawaii-Metal Band.

Nice reaction. I tend to think this song is about living in the past. Folks who can't move past mistakes or the good time they had back then and now can't see a better future. So, they just don't move on. This creates its own nightmare for those around that person. We've all known someone like this. The ballplayer who likes to talk about a one play they did 8 or more years ago. And nothing else. Or maybe that's the only thing that folks want to talk to them about. That would be its own kind of nightmare. For Babymetal I can understand them feeling this way. Especially now. Yui left 5 years ago. And I'm sure folks still ask them about that time they did something with her and just don't want to move past that. While a question every now and then about it is understandable. But when the topic comes up all the time. It does get annoying. Now that Momoko is an official member of Babymetal. By the end of this touring year how many times are they going to be asked how does it feel to replaced Yui? Personally, since Yui has been gone for 5 years. Momoko isn't replacing Yui. Now Babymetal is a new trio and moving forward beyond their past. But like Su's nightmare all night long, it's over. The nightmare of losing Yui is finally over as they are a trio again and moving on to the future. Babymetal lyrics can be in general. About people we know or it could be about them. My second favorite song on the album. There is definitely guitar in the mix. You should watch evofaizal777's Time Wave guitar cover. He writes in the comments about how he originally thought the song was going to be too simple, and that isn't actually that easy. He also explains why.

lol hilarious they could not decide who is singing that high part, we can't agree on who that is either, some say Su some say Moa, personally I am on the fence, at times it sounds like both of them, but it makes more sense from a live performance perspective it would be Moa. Musically it isn't to my personal taste but if I had to listen to a dance track I would choose this one over 99% of the others and I won't be heartbroken if it is one of the songs they play at the live I am at.

When thefull album was released, I was not disappointed! BM always had really diverse sound, and I love that they kept it! Tbf I was a bit scared after they released the first 3 songs, because they were all really "similar" metalcorish, but now I'm happy :D
Plus, me being a dance music fan, I definitely love the EDM laying in the back of many of these songs :)

Great reaction. I am not a fan of dance music, when I heard the snippets they released in advance of the album I was not optimistic about 'Time Wave'. I should have known not to worry, BABYMETAL have a way of making musical styles that are not my thing sound really good ... I really like this song. "Feel it".🦊

I learned this word today Kaizen. A Japanese word that means for the betterment of people. I came to think about Babymetal and thought their music is Kaizen Metal.
I'm always fascinated by the quick back and forth between English and Japanese in the lyrics. It's highly confusing even for me as a listener, I can't imagine what it must be like for Su.

But to me they are all bangers so its tough to rank them at all 😅
Something I noticed in this album and especially this song .. they are playing way more now with detailed soundscapes and they all sound great!
This song definitely has my favorite "soundscape" I want a version where the last 30 seconds lasts 30 minutes and its all i would work out to ❤

@@GlassMoonGaming yeah, the day it came out, they played it that night and their next show they played "MAYA" in that spot, I wonder since they have crossed the threshold of more than half the songs have a video thing, maybe the whole album will have videos.
To me Time Wave and MATYA is best song from TOO.

I disagree with the "live is better" line some people throw around. It's simply not true. It's just different, with the instruments that are on stage given more prominence. To me, that's just throwing away all of the interesting production details, of which there are bucket loads on this album. The rock/electronic hybrid is really popular right now and it is producing some of the most interesting new music around.

You make a good point but for me is mostly about the vocals. Too many effects on Su's voice is like slapping a coat of paint on a diamond. While I assume some of the effects are still hard live, getting more of the diamond and less of the paint is a positive.
I know where you are coming from, but when I think of a song when I say "Live is better", I say it (mostly) because if something so amazing can be reproduced in a LIVE setting with the same perfection, then THAT performance is better and proves they didn't need any effects or audio editing to accomplish certain things. In BabyMetal's case specifically, I think Live is better because I believe BabyMetal to be PERFORMANCE artistry and the way to experience it completely includes the lore, the show, the choreography, and everything else that goes into making the PERFORMANCE that much better!
There's at least one error in the lyrics and it's not even in translation. The video has "There is an ending to everything," but the official lyrics are "There isn't an ending to everything."
That makes much more sense, especially with the Mobius strip metaphor!
Nice reaction as always. I am a bit torn on this one since it is a bit too poppy for my taste but hopefully seeing it played live will change that :).
The lyrics can, in my opinion, be interpreted in either way. Either positive, which would fit to Babymetal, that life is never a straight line, or easy but no matter what, just keep going, or in a darker sense of life being unpredictable and harsh. Especially the line “I had a bad dream all night long, it’s over” sounds very dark to me but who knows, it could also mean that the dream is now over and all is good once again.
Babymetal never stops to surprise me with their music and that’s one of the reasons am such a fan of them. Kitsune up my friend! 🤘🔥🦊
It comes off MAYA which is about someone realizing they are in a dream, or as I interpret it, an illusion of the world how they wish it was, and waking up to the cold harsh world, but with a possibly bright future ahead regardless. Time Wave was labeled as the dimension of 'Transition' at the concert, and Believing is very much a good follow up.
I was thinking along the same lines! The fact it comes after Maya isn't an accident! I can't wait to deep dive the whole album!
