A countdown of my favorite power metal albums of Q1 2015, from least awesome to most awesome! 13 albums, one song from each album.

yo no escucho power metal como desde el 2005, lo ultimo que compre fue el black halo de kamelot, me quedo con el recuerdo de helloween de los 80s, gamma ray del heading for tomorrow, el fresco angra del carry on, el intento de sonata arctica con ecliptica, el ocean born de nightwish muy bien cuidado, el legacy of kings de hammerfall, lo primero de rhapsody y freedom call, y el episode de stratovarius, lo ultimo bueno que escuche fue el symphony of the night de Nightscape, y el midday moon de cardiant y seria.... hoy en dia el genero murió,...lo único que me hizo fruncir el ceño fue el disco de Unisonic, pero no fue lo que esperaba, saludos!!!

Difficult to take seriously when he has such a stunning band like Nightwish at 6/10.

James Nichols I can claim myself a hardcore NW fan. But I have to admit this NW album is not as good as Tuomas's other works (except for Dark Passion Play). I am not saying that EFMB is bad, it's good, i love it, but it's not that Nightwish-good as it supposed to be.
btw rating NW as Power Metal? I am out lol.
Well, to be honest, NW should have been much higher in the list but this is of course all based on opinions. Come on! It's science inspired album! You don't see many of those from mainstream bands. I didn't pay much attention to NW until this album and the Imaginaerum. Now that I'm starting to understand the story of the band (especially Tuomas'), I have started listening their previous albums more. Having said all of this, I really like this type of videos because it brings new bands and songs to my attention.
I really suggest that people pay more attention to lyrics of this album. I don't know about music itself enough to say whether it is a masterpiece or not but I like all of the songs in it.

Mostly good picks outside of Nightwish. The song sounds EXACTLY like 'Dark Chest Of Wonders', note for note. You can practically sing the lyrics to 'Dark Chest Of Wonders' to it.

Giving Blind Guardian's beyond the red mirror an 8/10??? It deserves the 10 it's a masterpiece like their other albums.
8/10 was pretty generous. You need to listen to more stuff than Blind Guardian.

i must say my opinion; powermetal is european, america powermetal bands ,dont know, i sense no feeling on them.i know powermetal cames from the manowar sound (american band) + kai hansen and his helloween/gammaray work, gave us now many many great powermetal bands. so my biggest hail to european powermetal artists!

+7stringterror ICED EARTH SLAYS, yeah the lighter power metal is ok but give me the heavier stuff, just need more bands like them--- for every 10 lighter power metal bands there is one ICED EARTH or ANGEL DUST type band which sucks

Back in the days power metal wasn't full of that crappy ridicolous keyboards line as nowadays. It was call "power metal" because of "power"...

You're right! Sometimes you can find good and powerful yet melodic metal... but you have to seek among tons of "synthphonic" keys...

Raziel Milky some bands, vary genres between albums, I think Nightwish is not power metal at all, it's a matter of taste and interpretations, I respect your point of view.
