Is Napoleon III's potrayal of betraying Austria in favor of the Italian accurate? I think he sided with the Pope, protecting Rome against the Italian, which in effect, will be more sided with the Austrian than the Italian.
I think he give consent for Sardinia to unify Italy in exchange for Savoy and Nice. Also the Pope wasn't really as influential as it used to be, so helping them would benefit the French less than helping the Sardinians in their effort to unify Italy.
@@AlexS-oj8qf No. He kept troops in Rome to support the Pope and then the Mortora case occurred and the Franco-Prussian War and both led to the withdrawal of his troops. Roughly the 1850s....basically and very simply Napoleon III (France) allied with Victor Emmanuel II (King of Piedmont, Savoy and Sardinia) in an effort to reunite France with Nice and Savoy. In the ensueing political escapades Russia and England would be involved in various ways, but it all culminates in the Battle of Solferino (Lombardy, June 1859), which would be the last battle where the armies of each side would be personnally led by their rulers. The resulting casualties - 17,191 for France/Piedmont and 22,310 for Austria led to the forming of the Red Cross. This was part of the Second War for Italian Unificaton and was part of the Italian Risorgimento. The 1850s still saw the use of muzzleloading muskets and rifle-muskets even though there were definite strides taken in the advancement of firearms toards breech loaders with metallic (paper and other) types of cartidges, but it was only in the 1840s that the percussion ignition system replaced flintlocks, BUT was a huge transitional period toward more modern firearms because at the same time the minie-type of weapons were being produced and used and the Dreyse needle gun was being used by the Prussians, not sure where Austria was by this time.
Wow, responded to this before seeing the "Battle" of Solferino.....Yeah, saw a few flintlocks in there...don't think thatis very accurate as most countries were at least using some form os percusion musket or rifle=musket by this time. though in time of war, heck even in the US some southern troops used flintlocks in the first year or so of the Civil War (1861-65).

@@wendeln92 but weren't bolt action rifles used in 1850s.
@@wendeln92 hmm yeah ok thanks for the info
Traduzione in italiano?

Episode 3 please
There are only two.
Thank you for posting these films about Empress Sissi, which I’m thoroughly enjoying. What I do not understand is why there are so many grammatical and spelling mistakes in the English subtitles!
Probably because I mostly did them at night when I had time but was pretty tired.
Um Bitch, beggars cant be choosers. Be happy with what you got. He doesnt owe us jack shit, hes doing us a FAVOR so lets be grateful instead of picky, uppity, Grammar Nazis

Kannst du genaueres benennen, was dich stört?
z.B. 19.50 ff - schrecklich = horrifically
'horifficly' ist kein englisches Wort. Ich hätte "horribly" gebraucht. @@GermanPeriodDrama
@@GermanPeriodDrama

"I would take back ..."

Immer wieder Österreich 🇦🇹👍
I've heard her son not daughter dying made her wear black for the rest of her life.
Her son died as an adult. The series ends way before that happens. I don't know if she only wore black after that, sorry.
I think this isn't true
@@fatimaaliboody4065 What?
After Rudolfs suicide in January 1889, she wore black for the rest of her live (over 9 years).

I don't speak Italian and I don't have that version. Sorry.

So unrealistic. Sisi didnt give a crap abt politics, her kids and most certainly not abt charlotte of belgium. Lmao
Really? can you tell me what was she really like? and what she cared about? thanks
@@samyuktha9836 I could usually only recommend a German documentary but a channel I often watch has also done a video about her. I haven't seen that particular one yet but I like their other content, so I guess that it will be a good one too.
ua-cam.com/video/akPZjOZZVNk/v-deo.html
Actually Sissi is very active diplomatically.
@@samyuktha9836 i read A DOZEN biographies abt Elisabeth of Austria hon. And they ALL said the same. She was selfish, narcistic, a cold mother, she only preferred her last child bc her mother in law was not interfering anymore. She had it in hungary. She fled bc the emperor cheated on her and got her some disease. She was absent 2 years before she returned to court again. She loved greek mythology and had a palace on Korfu, the Achilleon, which i visited. She was on a strict diet all her life and didnt let photographers make portraits of her after 35. Like i said. I know her life by heart.
@@GermanPeriodDrama - I saw that episode; it was interesting and I learned a lot (though I am not sure how accurate it is because I knew nothing about Sisi prior to watching it). I love Biographics too!

Italiano
There is an Italian version of it. But I used the German one because I don't speak Italian.
