What better way to tell you neighbors you never want to see them ,than building a massive wall lol I love it
a small tip is put 5 degree bevel on cap so rain flows off I do this on all my decks and fence caps adds years to fence
@Bob Carlson - Excellent point / suggestion!
thank you i was just wondering what bevel to use on hand rails
Would be a nice touch, but actually wouldn’t extend the life of a fence. This fence in particular, will rot off at ground level because she used 4x4 posts. Oh, and I’ve been building fences for over 40 years.
How do you put a bevel on it?
@@stevencollins507 2 to 5 degrees on table saw do not have go to a point in middle may leave a inch or so , I would take a block plane round off those edges for nice finishing touch
Fence? More like the Great Wall of Wilkerson.😆
Too funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Love it
Love when you do the speed ups, your nail gun never runs out of nails.
The different colors definitely gives it an interesting look. It really came out well!
Feeling a bit sticky April? Always cover yourself from head to toe when spraying oil base materials and always wear a particle mask when spraying any material. Protect your lungs and your eyes.
out doors with an airless sprayer... youll be fine, indoors with a HVLP gun absolutely use a respirator
You must wear a respirator. Doesn't matter weather it is indoor or outdoor. Or if it is airless or hvlp. Or if it is oil based or water based. Protect your lungs
@@davidpowell3920 i must huh... maybe i should.. but i certainly dont have to, personally outdoors with a airless sprayer im comfortable without a respirator especially on a hot summer day, doesnt bother me any if i wear one shouldnt bother you any if i dont
@@AndrewBrowner sorry miss typed the comment. No i agree with what you said that you don't have to. But i think it is best to. I have sprayed a whole house this week in 35'c and I have wore a respirator all week. Just my opinion that I think people should wear one.
@@davidpowell3920 I've been immersed in public health for the last 6 months with COVID... but as a wood-worker and medical geek, I've gotta agree with you. Guys, while I'd desperately see everyone in a mask (properly worn) to help mitigate COVID spread, to the point of mandate, I will strongly encourage you to follow David's advice and wear a respirator when spraying. And cutting MDF, or sanding, anything that produces fine particles that will cause lung problems.
It is beautiful. Don't know how much wind you get at this location, but it's usually advisable to leave air gaps between slats to allow air to flow through the fence rather than creating a solid barrier. Doesn't take much wind pressure (psi) over hundreds of thousands of square inches to put tons of force on it.
Another great project in the books April! This one looks better than the last one you did. The random colors gives it a very unique look.
Keep the great videos coming.
Thanks for sharing and God bless
Would your wall stand against the wind ? Correct me if i am wrong but i believe there must have been some holes in between the wood to allow for passage of air
Anyway thank you for the beautiful work
Next time you need pre-stained pickets, call me! I’ve got a machine we can run them through. I’ll trailer it down from Lubbock, 450 pickets an hour and done! It’ll be cheaper than buying them and you can maintain the full DIY control over the results.
Still in business?
@@THEGENERALMAN yes sir, 806-503-7333 call me any weekday 8-5
The contrasting colors of the fence are life!!!
Thank you.
I watched a “fence expert” reaction video of this video. Dude is too lazy to make his own content.
Thank you Amy. Good work. I’ll watch the ad a second time so you get paid.
Wow that's a lot of work. Looks incredible. Well done April!
Blown away with this lovely young lady. I see her own HGTV show in her future!! God bless
Nice fence, April. Tip: when using the sprayer, make sure that you wear a tight fitting respirator to protect your lungs from aerosolized particles of stain.
Every time I watch your videos I think, she's such a badass! Great work as usual. Love how the trim covers the dog ear pickets so you can save even more time.
It really turned out fantastic, April! Great job! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
That looks great! I really enjoyed following this build on Instagram and UA-cam. Great job!
1.25 million subscribers! Wow, you've come a long way. Proud of your work!
OMG it's been so hot in Canyon Lake! Mad props for sticking it out.
I love the brown shade variety of the pickets
Nice job April always doing hard graft hats off to you.
I can't believe you're building a wall to protect your property!... (sarcasm...!) It is beautiful!!!
You are awesome. The fence looks amazing and you are such an inspiration to many.
You may also consider, flipping the spacer Left-Right for every other board, just to nullify any error.
This could be an alternative to check the level for every other picket
I use 3/4" Oriented Strand Board (OSB) and it holds it's shape extremely well and wont warp as long as you don't get it wet. Just run it thru a table saw and cut it to the desired width you need.
I don't know if your intention was a Mid Century Modern look, but this is a great example. Fantastic.
Hi April ! In happy for you and your success as ive followed you from your start. Awesome job on all levels . I love your fence designs and inspiration too. Your teaching style is EXCELLENT!
Thank you so much!
It looks absolutely stunning
This fence truely make an elegant statement.
Another great project & video. I've got a fence to demo & rebuild, so time to get my "Wilker-do" on~! Thanks April~!!
Hi! as I love how you play with contrasts of woods
April, Awesome job. The little details count, people notice and pride in your work is always rewarded, thanks for sharing.
Can't believe you don't want to look at that sweet camper!
That's a HUGE fence, great job!!!!!
You always make great videos and your a very hard worker. You are very inspiring.
My favorite wood April cedar stays straight and is worth the money in the long run. You will be glad you made this decision years from now . (Good Job Retired Fence Builder).
Thank you!
If the horizontal boarding was done half in one side and the other on the opposite side maybe with a bit more overlap you could benefit from the reduced "wing" effect of the whole fence, also reducing wet spots with the enhanced ventilation and still have the occultation intended.
Yes - I said in part one. They built a giant wing. It's ventilation and wind safety.
Looks good but will be down in 2-3 years
That’s called shadow box.
@@dirtysouthtv2209 👍
Great idea to put a quick handle on that spacer board!
The jigs were great idea and simple ot use as well as make.
KILLER FENCE, QUALITY, ALL IN THE DETAILS ‼️👍👍. Vinny 🇺🇸
This as fantastic as I expected it to be, you didn’t disappoint 😁
One could put other 2nd row of pickets on other side of fence giving both sides same good look and also gives air flow to prevent wind from knocking down fence.
That is one long fence. A couple more feet and I think you would qualified for Federal funding. Looks great!!
April, You never cease to amaze me. You take on any task or project and go till you are finished. Beautiful fence and I am sure it will attract customers to your shop and store.
Felix from Nebraska :- Eye candy only.
You will be back at the lumber yard in 2-3 years re-building it the correct way after she blows down.
Do some research.
The cedar looks really nice!
Wow, it was a really huge project I like it, I will replace my pickets but vertical, but now I have a better idea how to do it, Thanks
That is one beautiful fence! Great job!
That looks very nice. Privacy fences are pretty much a sail when it gets windy. I might have recommended putting the second layer of boards on the other side of the posts to allow airflow. We lost a fence last year here in an Arkansas straight wind event.
With regards to the top cap rail, cutting the butt ends at a 45 degree makes the joint better as the wood will shrink and the gap will be less obvious.
Good Looking! Only change I would consider would have been using a rounded or champferred top rail to keep water (or snow for us mountain folk) from pooling. If you look at older fences like mine, it's the flat top rails that split & rot long before any other fence boards. I do like the look.
That is a beautiful fence awesome job it sure beats the thousands of miles of barb wire I installed back on our family farm no more of that for me I’ll stick to the small projects on my channel
It looks amazing! Great work!
I love things that are beautiful and functional and you captured both. Very well done April! 😊
My family just built a ten foot fence. I was more familiar with the process because of the video. The only difference is that she made 12 feet in 6 minutes. And we took 6 hours.
So you got mad at your neighbors? 😂
tiagomenezzes nah, 10 feet long. It’s eight feet high, but that’s mostly because we didn’t want to cut the boards, lol.
Very nice end result. Looks good.
I really like the color variation!
Outstanding job, that a really nice fence!!!!
Nice job April !!! As a consideration please use a respirator to help guard your lungs.
Your "Can Do" attitude is an inspiration and your personality makes you a joy to watch. Stay safe.
Wow great job April & Co
Nice job! Just built one almost identical style but made from pressure treated wood with Master Halco PostMaster posts
Boooah: was für eine Menge Arbeit... Respekt! 😍
LOOKS GREAT. GREAT JOB. #STAYSAFE
Amazing Job April!
Você é uma mulher espetacular. Saudações do Brasil.
good Technic, well done and beautiful!
beautiful fence April!
Looks amazing great job thanks for sharing
I’m always impress about your projects detail explaining no matter how hard thanks to both
Looks so beautiful April love western red cedar especially the smell. Blessings🙏🏼
Now that's a huge epic fence.
When asked who built it. I did and proud of it to. See my own hands. Nice. No better way to say it April. Later
Really nice looking fence! That last veritcal boards really changed it!
Now does that stain last long? Looks so clean!
Thanks for the video April! 🇺🇸
Love you April ❤️ from Egypt
Great looking fence, April. So smart to check level as you go, especially with a fence where the eye will track those horizontal lines. Love the jig and trimming out the butt joints. Well done.
Whew! Lot of work but it looks amazing!
Very creative install thanks.
Nice work turned out very well
That’s a beast of a fence!
I followed the build on instagram. You guys killed it! 🔥👍
Now that's a good lookin fence !!!!!!!!!!!!! Great job !
Looks good April.
You inspire me. Just signed up to a woodworking class. Got to start somewhere. 😀
That's wonderful!
Oh man that is beautiful.
Nice fence April.
Using the spacer, I would have to start at the bottom and rest the spacer on the bottom board while attaching the top board. If I did it the way you did, I wouldn't get very many boards up, let alone getting them up level.
I think the template method is perhaps the best way of doing it, but I would want two templates; one on each side so that I could put the boards in place, and then just go down the line and nail them.
A very pretty fence, indeed. But, golly, April is beautiful. 🥰
I would recommend this to anyone
Looks so good. I'm definitely going to try this at my house in the backyard.
Your job is very wonderful ... I hope you will accept my regards ... your friend from Iraq
Great job April, fantastic looking fence for you and your neighbors. Thanks for sharing with us and keep up the good work and videos.👍👍 !!
Nice job April. Needed a kick board though.
I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THIS FENCE! SERIOUS *WOW* FACTOR!
The fence looks amazing! 😍👌🏻 Awesome job April! 👍🏻👊🏻
Great looking fence
Great job. The fence came out beautifully. Now you have privacy with a beautiful touch.
Excellent Work Project
Girl your a Badass !!! I could Definitely tell how Exhausted you were after the 1st Round of Pickets ... Your Videos are Amazing and so Thorough
Burning the bottom board lightly would preserve it and I love the look of a touch of black.
3:52 ... that ladder drag tho .. 😂🤣
Beautiful
