A wealthy egoist and misogynist who had an affair with the wife of an infertile friend, who for many years had been trying to have a child with the woman he loved, and Simon had picked her up and impregnated her. He was a friend of the house. And the guy who trusted him was left without a wife and a child.

If she had come out as a 20 yr old bomb shell and couldn’t sing a note she would firstly have the judges interest and then been booed off the stage. The public world needs to change the way people’s appearances, which for the most part that’s how they are born are the way they are adjudicated. Susan became more famous and beloved than Elaine and that’s because she can not only sing, but she is humble, sweet and so likeable. I’m not saying Elaine isn’t. I’m saying this lady came out of no where, was ridiculed and then blew thousands of critical audience members right out of their seats. I’m glad Amanda sort of apologised to her. She didn’t want to make it personal so she made it about the whole audience and crew and she was right. Go Susan. This is one of my favourite auditions. Today is Jan 1, 2023. I have tears running down both cheeks--all these years later. I'm a 51 year old American guy. I remember this happened on my birthday weekend that year. It's been the best birthday present I've ever received in my life.
The hosts should be ashamed of themselves how they looked down at her because of her looks. Talent is not noted for belonging to beauty only, but to the artist that knows her thing. Susan Boyle is fantastic and her beautiful voice makes me shiver.

It’s sad how most people who watched this made assumptions based on her appearance but her voice is an absolute gift from God and it woke the world up. So happy she had this opportunity to let us all listen to her beautiful voice.
Truly a gift from God. I clearly remember how childlike she was to the point of attempting to just walk off the stage as if ay a school concert , absolutely unassuming and unaware of the gift she had given us.

Not often you see someone's life change in a few seconds but 5 seconds into the song and it happens right there. Fantastic stuff. Arguably, better than Elaine Paige and didnt even know it. Probably one of the greatest live performances ever on British TV. One gets the impression she is truly singing from experience. Her mum had died and Susan hadn't sung in public for 4-5 years apparently.
By now, I must have watched this video 100 times, and I'm still in awe. One of the most beautiful voices I've heard, and a super sweet woman to sing it. I wish her all the success she deserves.
After the initial response from the audience as soon as she sang the first line, it is really impossible not to be overwhelmed and manage to keep going. That just shows how down to earth she is and how much she likes singing.

Fourteen years ago I bought my mother a cd/radio and Susan Boyles cd she loved to hear her voice even though her eyesight was going it gave her some peace, I had it played at mums cremation. Still miss her.

The hosts should be ashamed of themselves how they looked down at her because of her looks. Talent is not noted for belonging to beauty only, but to the artist that knows her thing. Susan Boyle is fantastic and her beautiful voice makes me shiver.

I watch this whenever I doubt myself. She didn't need anyone's approval or help because she was enough. I know this was a long time ago but it still inspires me and gives me strength when I am up against something tough. Thank you Susan Boyle, you are an amazing inspiration to so many.

Not often you see someone's life change in a few seconds but 5 seconds into the song and it happens right there. Fantastic stuff. Arguably, better than Elaine Paige and didnt even know it. Probably one of the greatest live performances ever on British TV. One gets the impression she is truly singing from experience. Her mum had died and Susan hadn't sung in public for 4-5 years apparently.
If every there was an example of how Gods' talent is visible for us, this is surely it.

There are moments in my life that I will ill never forget. Like 9/11 and Susan Boyle.
After the initial response from the audience as soon as she sang the first line, it is really impossible not to be overwhelmed and manage to keep going. That just shows how down to earth she is and how much she likes singing.
Even in 2024 this shows how people are so quick to judge & when there is no need to be, good on Suzan a wonderful woman & talent even Simon & the judges were quick to judge her it's very sad in life when people don't know what's going on in people's life

Fourteen years ago I bought my mother a cd/radio and Susan Boyles cd she loved to hear her voice even though her eyesight was going it gave her some peace, I had it played at mums cremation. Still miss her.
