One thing to do which is helpful is to disconnect the battery before you install it. When you start it up after you install it, stay away form the gas pedal. The car is learning how to adjust for the increase in air volume.
If you buy the AEM kit, it should come with the hose. If you don't have one, you can easily buy one at your local part store. It's a standard hose, 5/8 ID, most of the part store will sell it to you by foot.

flyingmantis you should put a gold heat wrap to keep the pipe cool. I used the pipe that goes to the outer bumper and noticed a difference.
