This is exactly why I first purchased my sewing machine. I use bandanas and different colored denim patches for real distressing. I call em my Pantdanas lol.

At the end of the summer I saw that a pair of my fav jeans thinned out in the crotch area and that I need to reinforce them, or pay the visual consequences!😂As a mom of two teenage twin boys, I'm thinking I will not win "Mom of the year" should I embarrass them in such a way!!!🤣I'm excited to try some sewing again, it's been years... and these will be my perfect practice piece! And btw, I absolutely LOVE your rings! I noticed the garnets in a more recent video and wondered where you found such gorgeous pieces? Hey there, Love this video! I have a pair of vintage Levis with the same tear at the butt. I have some beautiful hill tribe fabric that I would like to use, but I do not have a sewing machine. Would you recommend I use a hoop to hand stitch?

When I was in high school my older sister used to get splits there and I used to mend them for her like this. My mends were not that tidy though.

A hoop is a great idea. Or use a fusible interfacing to help keep the fabric in place.

I have a hard time pinning like you did with only your hand underneath. I usually stick a magazine or something firm under the patch and then pin.
