    Seriously. I did everything right with my first. Yoga and hiking on a daily basis, red raspberry leaf tea, spinning babies exercises, squats, great posture, no sugar, etc. I was obsessed with prepping for a natural labor. But I had a looooong difficult labor and difficult recovery. Seriously there is only so much you can control. So if you have a hard labor or need surgery, don’t beat yourself up. Yes, these things can make labor easier. But they aren’t a control mechanism to make everything turn out ok. Life can throw you some crazy curve balls and sometimes no one is to blame.

    Just thought of sharing my labour experience here.
    I was a first time mom and had quite an easy labour.
    My early labour phase was around 17 hrs ( I was at home all the time despite the contractions) and my active labour was around 2 hrs plus only.
    I went to labour room at 1 pm with os 3 and delivered naturally at 223 pm.
    The secret :
    1) I refused to believe that labour got to be painful and miserable.I kept visualising easy labour.
    2) I meditated and slept well during early phase...I also walked a lot and stayed active. Staying still on bed not gonna help
    3) I walked a lot and kept active throughout second and third trimester. Physical fitness is important .If you can't exercise just incorporate more physical activities eg mopping the floor , washing clothes old style, gardening.
    4) in the labour room I refused to be supine but was on my sides.
    Of course you are what your mind perceive.
    The secret is in believing it is going to be easy. Good luck.

    Here’s the summary. I found this video really helpful. Thank you so much Sarah.
    Fitness is key - Stay active throughout the pregnancy (jogging,running and squats)
    Labour specific to help open pelvis,hips and during labour are:
    1. 500 Squats a week
    a. Regular squats (tighten your abs and take time going up and down) with pulse
    b. Ballerina plie squats-little more open not too deep (holding your abs)
    c. Deep squats (practice)-sit all the way down and roll left to right
    2. Focussing on inner leg/thigh and groin
    a. Butterfly stretch and lean forward
    b. wide-angle seated forward bend
    3. Give room for body and help with baby position
    a. Avoid slumping/slouching
    b. Revolved seated angle pose
    c. Cross your legs & elongate your upper body stretch hands up and breathe
    4. Long walks (if you can go for jog)
    5. Swap your chair with exercise ball-leg far part helps open pelvis
    Diet:
    6. Eat healthy food avoid sugary/fast food as much as you can. Avoid excess diary.
    7. Around 33-35 weeks
    a. Start taking Red Raspberry leaf tea one cup a day and slowly increase the dose as you go. Helps ripen cervix with dilation and labour
    b. Evening primrose oil from 35 weeks-gel capsules orally.
    c. Perennial massage-34 weeks onwards (mix of evening primrose oil with lavender essential oil) or rub on your vagina or put overnight pad soaked with that oil.
    8. Taking baths in lavender oil/Epsom salt
    9. Hydrate really well
    Update: I had breech baby until 35.5 weeks, I was freaking out. Then after good research I did the spinningbabies website exercise advise, baby came into optimal position at 36.5 weeks scan. Then no sign of labour and I was overdue. At 41 weeks they attempted sweep but couldn’t as cervix was soft but no dilation. I continued to bounce on the ball, exercising. Then spontaneous labour started. I had 18 hrs of early labour and 18 hrs of active labour. I had VBAC mid Jan 2020 with episiotomy, I took gas and epidural for the last 8hrs. Hospital staffs were very supportive.

      Nabeela Khaleelur Rahman 500 squats a day would make you give birth the same day , it’s 500 squats a week and someone who isn’t as fit as her should not even attempt to do any squats per day ... if you aren’t already fit pregnancy is not the time to start being fit

    I’m 18 weeks with my second child and 100% agree with everything you said! I did everything you said and more during my first pregnancy and had an amazing labor and postpartum recovery. My labor was 4.5 hours (all natural) and I only pushed twice before my son was born. I also didn’t tear at all and was back to my pre-pregnancy weight fairly quickly!
    The things I would add are consistently sleeping on your left side. Research shows that one of the best positions your baby can be in is facing to the right (it’s back on your left side) which is encouraged by sleeping on the left. ALSO! Going to the chiropractor during the third trimester to make sure that everything stayed aligned and baby has an easy pathway to come out. Finally, eating dates during the third trimester has also been linked to easier births.
    I think it’s so interesting how many women are misinformed in thinking that easy labors come from pure luck and if they have a difficult labor that there was nothing they could have done to prevent it! I 100% agree that there ARE many things you can do to up your chances of an easy labor!

    • @user-ee8cq9jt3y
      @user-ee8cq9jt3y 4 роки тому +4

      Of course so many women are misinformed, because the only information we are actively given (in school, at least) are that it is painful unless your hips are wide, which ich genetic. What exactly did you expect from government curriculum? And yes there is information on the internet, but not everybody searches or if the do, they may be discouraged to trust it, because 'doctors know best and homeopathy (like drinking tea or even recommended exercise) is not officially recommended by the experts'.

    • @jennadanielescobar4440
      @jennadanielescobar4440 2 роки тому

      Alright I’m done with people saying it’s your fault you had a bad labor. I did everything i could exercise, RR tea, dates, and nothing helped. 43.5 hours first time and now in prodormal labor with second kid. Not my fault my labors are long and not super quick like some women

    • @meganhuckaby797
      @meganhuckaby797 2 роки тому +1

      @@jennadanielescobar4440 There’s a reason why I said “up your chances”. I realize that there are some women who do everything right and still end up with a long and hard labor. But I also think there are many women who don’t prepare at all for their labors and end up with a bad birthing experience who could have *potentially* changed that outcome had they done a few things differently. That’s not to say that anyone who does all these things will for sure have an easy labor. I think it just gives you better chance to.

    I think all these things are great. But I didnt do any prepping at all amd I had super easy labors and healed very quickly. My first labor was 5 hrs long and pushed for 20 minutes. My second was 3 hrs long and I pushed for 51 seconds. I healed completely by week 4 postpartum with both. I think genetics plays a bigger part then we think. All of these things are great to do, but you cant 100% say they will all help everyone the same way I think. No hate at all haha I actually loved this video too.

      HeyitsGina! I totally agree! Ive heard inductions can cause tearing as well as epidurals...i had an epidural with my first and had an episiotomy with a vacuum assisted delivery (sunny side up and stuck) and with my second i had the epidural placed but it didnt take at all (i think they just placed it but didnt administer any meds) and tore worse (she came out so fast and was WAY bigger than my first). Recovery with my first was TERRIBLE but the second time around i didnt even feel like I gave birth! I think the second time goes smoother in most cases!

    • @gaileenkern3240

      Being induced hurts a lot too! My body was ready (10cm dilation) for my daughter 3 hrs after I got to the hospital but she wasn’t moving (she was asleep). I think they got impatient and just wanted me out of l&d so after 13 hours they tore my amniotic sac and gave me pitocin in my iv. After 32 hours my daughter finally came but I had to be rushed to the OR after about an hour because my placenta wouldn’t detach and I was losing too much blood. It turned out that the placenta got attached over my Fallopian tube’s hole in my uterus and it was fused with the tissue there. The delivery went quick once my daughter dropped low enough and started making progress but I felt rushed to have her.

We’re very similar in build, and I had a similar “shape” if you will with my pregnancy and miss it so much. My husband and I are trying to wait until our son is a little older for personal reasons, but “baby fever” is kicking in for sure! Love your channel; you’re inspiring and lovely to follow!

    I had a 30 minute labor with my 3rd! The only difference was i worked out 5 days a week the entire pregnancy, that was doing HIIT at least 3 days a week and strength training 5 days a week. Also did lots a pelvic tilts and hip stretches. I ended up having an accidental home birth, but it was such an easy birth! I’d do it again a thousand times over.

      Accidental home birth... I should probably read about it as well, I work out as intense on both cardio and stretch. I was actually wondering if you can overdo in a good way and have it happening too quickly :-))

    I’m almost 32 weeks pregnant with my third baby, and I completely agree with all your tips! One other tip I’d add would be doing pelvic rocks, that really encourages baby to get into the right face down position which makes labor, and delivery so much easier! I didn’t know about this in my first pregnancy, and had a very tough labor, and delivery because my son was face up. In my second pregnancy I did this, along with many of the other things you suggested in this video, and it mad all the difference in my labor, and delivery of my daughter. What’s even more interesting is that she was almost a pound heavier than my son! I had the nurse weigh her three times because I didn’t believe she was actually 8lbs3oz.

    I’m the perfect example of genetics working against you!! I did literally all of these things to have an easier natural labor since I opted for pain medicine free. To give some perspective, I am 5’1 about 120-125, and my husband is 6’4 260+ and his head still looks pretty large for his body. My daughter was born with an almost 14 INCH HEAD! So no matter what I did to prepare, she got stuck in my birth canal and her heart rate dropped so I was rushed into an emergency c-section. The doctors had to push her back up into my cervix to get her out of the incision. The delivery doctor looked at me afterwards and said “this is a first for me. The largest part of her body passed your cervix. You’re the first person I’ve ever met who’s had a vaginal and c-section birth on the same baby!” I was being stitched up on the table so I wasn’t too thrilled to hear that at that moment, but now that I’ve healed it’s kinda neat

    500 SQUATS?!?!

    • @stitchwhich
      @stitchwhich 6 років тому +39

      Weird and Weirdur2024. Its not hard. I never counted my daily squats but i made a rule any time i walked past the stairs i would do 2 to 4 squats. When i was admitted at 41 weeks to be indused without pitosin (wasnt making that mistake again pitosin is evil) i did a lot of laps around the ward at the hospital and at opposite ends of the ward i would do 2 squats. One of the nurses counted my laps and did the math i did approximately 100 laps ×4 squats = 400 squats while in early labor. I also did light yoga with the aid of my doula. My early labor was painless after my water was broke i went from 7cm to complete in 45min so the worst of my labor and delivery was only about 2 hours. Btw im not a small woman i was 230lb during that pregnancy but i kept active the more you move while pregnant the easier labor is.

      I had to take an aerobics class in college and our teacher LOVED squats! There were days we would come to class and she would be so chipper and chime off "we're going to do a thousand squats today!" Sometimes they were in fun routines so it wasn't as noticeable. Other days we'd play "musical squat ups." We'd get in a circle with yoga balls and squat up from sitting on the yoga balls, played to music like musical chairs. Except when you got out you just took a ball and continued doing squats outside the circle. 😐 first class of the day on a campus with a LOT of stairs. My booty was poppin though.

      If you exercise regularly before and during pregnancy, 500 is nothing really. But I guess it makes you feel how unfit you are if you can't do even half unless you are sick all along

    • @thesaintmustwalkalone708
      @thesaintmustwalkalone708 5 років тому +20

      OK, these comments under tours are so prideful. It's as though people think if they have a good labor, they have figured it all out... Lol..
      5 babies here... Despite being basically in the same shape, they are all vastly different. How you carry the baby, where the baby attaches or is positioned, if you are also carrying around a toddler, etc all play a role in a normal pregnancy. Just because a person may have a hard time doing squats does not mean they are just unfit. They very well can be, but you can't compare your one or two pregnancy journey against all others when there are so many factors to consider...

    I also highly recommend arming yourself with the knowledge of c-sections as well as mentally and emotionally prepping yourself just in case. I prepped my body for natural labor and ended up needing an urgent c-section; while I had looked into c-sections, I didn't prep for one emotionally. My son is almost a month old now and is our little miracle

    Just had a Vbac and I totally think these tips helped!! There’s different perspectives about red raspberry tea from a few of the providers at my OB office one said no because it might put me at higher risk for another c section, that it might give me contractions. The other said she’s not for it or against it because there’s not enough research so she’d leave it up to me. So I decided to only drink a cup of tea at the end of my third trimester. In the last month I did attempt to do the 500 squats I listened to my body and would do 200-300, would eat 3 dates a day with smoothies. I did have a tear, maybe because I did not do the primrose or my size, I’m 5’0 exactly. The drs and nurses did say a 2nd degree tear is pretty common. This video along with hypnobirthing meditation and of course God, made my labor experience go much smoother than my first.

    I didn’t work out or go for walks as I was soooo lazy. Basically slept a lot. But I started drinking RLT at 32 weeks and inserting evening primrose oil starting 34weeks! My labour was 2hours and 5min pushing!!! I do think the tea and EPO helped with that along with squats during every contraction, I couldn’t stay laying down when they came (the only time I had energy during my pregnancy was labour). So I would defs say drink the tea and the primrose oil inserted helps speed up labour
