It's been over 25 years since I've played, and every time I watch one of these it makes me miss pitching so damn much. I only topped out at 89mph but had tons of movement, and my change-up & slider were filthy. Multiple opposing coaches had me checked when they first saw how nasty my slider was. My problem was immaturity though. I never had the discipline to take it seriously and flunked out of college. So many regrets. Glad these kids have something like this available to them.
I am from the future. You would have been in the minor leagues for 3’years and then called up to the Big Leagues as a bull pen pitcher. You had a good career for 8 years
@@medi3val735 Sadly, you spent all your big league earnings on partying, and you ended up with the same amount of money you have now in this alternate timeline
@@medi3val735any of us that grew up playing would love that! I had nasty off speed stuff that made me good thru about 17. My issue was I never could get over 80-82 on fastball. Excellent coaching.. Mechanics are everything. Sports performance training has come so far since I graduated in 93. I was throwing 87-88 tops but we never really worked out or did any drills to improve power & velocity. Glad it's here to stay & make a fraction of these young men into the MLB stars of tomorrow.
Excellent opportunity and great experience for the youthful catcher. Even a major league catcher would have a hard time catching those hard breaking pitches. I’m looking forward to seeing this young picture make it into the pros.
Noticed great pitchers all have a certain body type - they are generally taller(6 ft+) and thin but with a decent amount of muscle .. are there any elite pitchers that are shorter, say around 5’8 and stocky and muscular..?
Glad they are not asking him to throw 100mph. He is still developing, he just needs to learn to move the ball and his body. He does not need a Tommy John surgery at 19
The average high school player would be "guess-hitting". Good All-Star level HS hitters would be thinking and looking f"astball"...At this point, he'd need to get that fast ball over the plate to set up those great off speed movement pitches for top level college D! players and low minor league players. I was a minor league player, but in college I met a coach who played with Nolan Ryan his first year in the NY Mets organization... He apparently wasn't throwing all strikes back then when he was young and raw either. Alex just needs time to develop as a "Pitcher" the way guys like Dave Stewart did back in his Oakland A's days, as did Dennis Eckersley once he became a closer. Thank you Thread Athletics for you content and teaching the next generation. Best wishes ahead Alex!
No offense to the catcher, he is doing a fine job, but I think this pitcher will have a lot of dropped third strikes throughout his career.....and that's awesome.
yes,be very patient at the plate,,the ball is all over the place including outside the strike zone, dont force a swing, sit and be patient until the one you want comes and drive it hard

The problem is this guy's fastball is really recognizable and hittable and secondary pitches have low strike rates. The opposing batters would simply sit there waiting for his fastballs to BANG, or otherwise a walk is warranted if he uses his secondary pitches too much. So, get your fastball improved and being able to command on your secondary pitches(throw more strikes) is the key.
sick off speed. i did notice though all his offspeed his footsetup is on the edge of the rubber on the mound. Me moves more to the middle or a bit more when throwing fast ball. Hard to tell couldnt see feet on every pitch but just a slight observation. But his junk is insane.
Have him throw pitches at the same pace he would in a game. You have him up there throwing one after another with no pause in between. He will get sloppy that way.
he needs to focus on hitting corners consistently. you do that with less velocity first. when you hit corners, there's strikes and balls. you've got to manage the two in succession...
