There actually was a “Star Wars Disco” album put out by Meco in the late 1970s. This is a surprisingly good replication of that. They also did *The Wizard of Oz.*
No joke, I misheard a couple of lines in the original Star Wars (1977), when I was 7 or 8 years old (can't remember if I saw it right away or during the holdover): Ben Kenobi: Instead of the real line, "The Jundland Wastes are not to be traveled lightly", I thought he said, "A gentleman wastes enough to be traveled, likely" 🤣 Hey, who would expect these esoteric proper names George Lucas made up out of the blue? Luke Skywalker: Instead of the real line, "You fought in the Clone Wars?", I naturally thought he said, "You fought in the colonial wars?" Hey, at that point, who ever heard of a _clone war_ ?
When you can't open a jar of something, I think it would be cool if people exclaimed " Oh pickles!". Please help me get this off the ground, I really want to make this a thing. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation
This was so awesome to see. I remember that night. Thanks Dave and may the Force Be With You! Miss the show more then you will ever know. Watched the first one. Watched the last one. And all with NBC and then CBS. You are a National Teasure Dave
As a fan of Everybody Loves Raymond who was way to young to watch it when it was first on I found that one reference to the show leaving the air a perfect time capsule I didn't know I needed.
I was a little nervous when they got to Darth Vader. I knew that less than a good James Earl Jones voice just wouldn't do. Not to worry. He delivered the goods. As my favorite talk show hosts pass the torch, I feel like we've lost something that's very important. Carson, Letterman, O'Brien, and Craig Ferguson have been my nighttime blue ribbon winners. Granted, I tend to be drawn toward the sometimes eccentric hosts. Mike Douglas was always a daytime favorite for me. I haven't watched that much of the Jimmy Fallon show. He came in after the era I considered truly classic. But, I don't have anything against him. To the contrary, it seems to me he can do almost anything he wants to do--and, do it well.
"Is there a single stormtrooper in the whole empire, who can hit a urinal from 6 inches away?" You know why they have such huge spaceships? Because every one of them can throw himself at the ground, from close range, and miss. Things you won't hear ~ "You couldn't find a droid. You couldn't find your own rear end with a torch and a mirror and both hands. Not with a week to search."
It's trivial to come up with things no Star Wars character would ever say. What would be more clever would be to come up with things that they would never say that are closely related to things they did say, such as "I've got a good feeling about this."
Here's a good one. Luke Skywalker: Leave it to me. I have experience in blowing large balls. I just need to find a large crack with a hole I can shoot into.
Bold move having Vader stand next to a Tusken Raider.
He HATES them!! (like sand too, as it happens)
Right, talk about bad planning.
Almost went over my head.
Good one
That's some PRODUCTION VALUE, baby!
I can never hear the Star Wars theme song without thinking about Bill Murrays lyrical take on it.
You are a man of culture.
And Paul was in that skit! I forgot all about that!
If they should bar wars...
Yup
The

There's no such thing as too much Paul Shaffer.
Well now we know why he was with the Worlds Most Dangerous Band 🤣🤣
Unless you are a teenage girl...
ooooooh i disagreee
Glad to call Mr. Shaffer one of Thunder Bay's own.🙂
The flute is a great addition to the theme.
they probably added that on UA-cam here so they don't have to pay the insane musical rights fees
It's the Meco Star Wars theme. Very popular in the 70's!
“That’ll hold you for a while, Gertrude”
"I wouldn't give your troubles to a monkey on a rock."
I bet that ice machine had the time of its life with R2-D2! 😘
Hope it didn't give it the old cold shoulder...
I heard he used the following pickup line:
"Damn girl, you R2 fine, and if you're lucky, I'll give you the D2!"
That explains BB-8
I noticed some kind of lubricant in my ice that I didn't want.
May the farce be with you. 🖖
May the 4th be with you, Dave!
I love seeing this clips again, thank you for continuing to share them
“I’m sorry, Luke. I’m afraid I can’t do that.”
I also remember "Top Ten Bad Things About Owning A Timeshare With Darth Vader". That was also really funny.
Haven't seen it, but I would expect: "I have altered the maintenance fees. Pray I do not alter them further."

That funky late night version of the star wars music is amazing

@@Attmay Did they also make the dicso version of Beethoven's 5th?
@@Hinatachan360 "A Fifth of Beethoven" was actually a hit for Walter Murphy and the Big Apple Band.
@@bluebear1985 Thanks. I couldn't remember the name of the song and band. 👍
The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the ability to open a pickle jar.
Thanks for leaving the walk-in music in!
"Star Wars ... nothin' but ... Bar Wars ..."
That Bill Murray sketch was a long, long time ago and far, far away.
@@chasbodaniels1744 Yes, but it was good. So very, very good.

Attack of the Blinth is easily the best of the prequel trilogy.
And you’re not just blinthely saying that either.
Paul in there with the disco version
Right ! Paul is a great musician and side kick !
It's the Meco Star Wars theme. Very popular in the 70's!
I love Vlasik Kosher pickles, but they can be damned hard to open.
The Dark Side of the Force is the pathway to many abilities that some consider.... unnatural.
I was hoping for "Damn. Those storm troopers are great marksmen!"
Brilliant (and timely) thanks Team Letterman.
#10!!! "Somehow, Palpatine returned."
#9!!!!............
Number 11: “I wish I was a Disney character.”
They missed a golden opportunity by not having Vader say, "Who's your daddy!"
How about a nod to Letterman's home state and have Vader instead say, "Hoosier Daddy?"
@@tdogg46142 NICE! 🤣
I miss this show so much.
I miss Dave and the show. It was a large part of my life beginning in the 80's until it ended. A Classic Show.

We miss you David

Sometimes even the Force can't get a jar of Vlasic pickles open!
#2 That was a great shot by that storm trooper
#1 Luke, I am your father
that was actually very good
This is proof that JOHNNY CARSON IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE THE KING OF LATE NIGHT
What character cussed the most in the movies?
R2-D2, he's bleeped every time he speaks
R2 had the best line.
"How was she?" "Frigid"
Interesting comment about “Everyone Loves Raymond” ending. CBS was just about to start “How I Met Your Mother” and “Big Bang Theory”.
Aka *That Show Bob Barker Did a Guest Shot on* and *That Show Bob Newhart Did A Guest Shot On.*
Hysterically hilarious!!!

Attack of the Blinth has a better ending than The Rise of Skywalker.
Rey.
Rey what?
Rey Blinth
Yup! With sour cream!
that flute though

I know it's weird, but here, it looks like Letterman has never seen a Star Wars movie.
That Ewok looked like a Halloween costume from the store.
They did in the movies too.
