Thumbs Up all the way for Lobo. She was definitely the best part of the night for sure. She's a beauty that was not going to conform to any rules. I have a red/white Siberian husky and I love this breed of dog so much. They are a brilliant dog who knows just what they are doing.
The absolute best thing to me about these videos is that when there's a really fast dog that tears through the course in record time doing every thing perfectly the crowd absolutely loses its mind. There's not a ton of connection between intelligence and trainability. If you're smart enough human games are boring, and food isn't as great as outsmarting them. Why play their game when you can train the humans to play yours?
Great dogs but not the smartest they just wanna have fun can’t blame em for that I had a husky and a Doberman the intelligence level is very obvious between the 2 but loved them both equally
If you spend enough time in the Agility course field there’s two universal truths: Huskies will almost always never do the course, and Border Collies will be the only breed in the 16 Inch class Correction on the inch class. I’m European and use metric 😅
0:30 is achievement by itself. Husky sitting on a spot when owner leave. This husky clearly shown passion to finish the course - no naps, no escape attempts. Seriously - did anyone remember at least one of other competitors?
@H Rose it’s probably the treats the trainer uses. She didn’t even seem to notice what he was going after at first. Stop blaming her, she was just trying to help when she figured out what the dog was distracted by. Every trainer brings treats to these events, part of being a good competitor is being trained to ignore everything except what’s on the course
@@ohrats731 At 0:07 seconds, you can see her hold a treat in front of Lobo and give him what looks like the hand signal to sit and acts like she's going to give it to him, then pulls it away.
Lobo's trainer is a person of immense patience, faith, courage and optimism to even consider training a Husky for such a level of competition.. I know, I have two. Huskies are recalcitrant, obstinate, argumentative and in possession of a wicked sense of humor. They take commands only after the third issue. And then, only as a suggestion. I didn't know joy until they came into my life.
Barrett Keller you nailed it. The sled dog breeds are intelligent, but not obedient and they most certainly work off of suggestions rather than commands. Lol oh those Silly Sibes!
@@andec6240 Heard it's because when they were sled dogs it was beneficial to have dogs who would protest if the owner made them go on ice that's too thin. So they were bred to have a strong character and just say no if the command doesn't seem right/safe.
Notice that he eyed the station first at 0:51 like " the heck is this?!?", then seconds later he was like " I'm gonna try this thing out...like this?", Then aftet people cheering, he was like, " Yahhh!!! I am on fire baby!!!!" 😎😎😂🤣
Best burst of laughter I've had all month when Lobo hit the poles with Lobo enthusiasm. OMG. SO great to tell his dad "meh, told ya dad. I'm not feeling it today". I SO relate. My 1st ever equine Western pleasure beginner competition w/ a horse I adored but no one else did bc he was stubborn unless you asked the correct way, and he believed you were deeply truly ready to rule-him. So, we enter the ring properly. I'm so thrilled to finally reach this stage. Just 1/3 way around the ring, he dead stops to make manure. Never did that with me, was never a problem. Couldn't get him to move for a 3 count which is too late. Horse breaks the required gait, you're disqualified. Now he was happy & wanted to GO. So when a lope was requested, he was power-housing fwd, and I just let him enjoy the ring. We passed everyone. Very uncool. I heard a small child proclaim "Mommy look at the FAST ONE!". At least my horse & a little child enjoyed it ☺️
the fact he even got the Husky inside the arena with out any successful escape attempts, is worth a trophy. Mine would have written two bad checks and killed a woodchuck.
I don't know about this competitions: is the "handler" also the ower?, because it gave me the impression of the man being kinda indifferent to the dog, as if he would not care about the dog at all, I don't like dogs but I would pretty much have petted Lobo carefully and kindly at the end, while this man just "clapped" and that's it.
@@lightnindawn7710 It didn't went better that he expected, you're all underestimating huskies. Yes, they are way harder to train, but they can complete a course like this with no problem under the right hands. The guy obviously expected him to do better, but it wasn't the dog's fault, it was the woman at 0:07 who broke his focus right before the start. The handler knew that.
Actually it's stress. That's an environment you absolutely cannot replicate and so if the dog hasn't been adequately prepared this is what you get. These are top dogs and handlers so you don't see it super often, but when you do it's stress-related (whether the dog is doing this or just running wild - both dogs are over their personal threshold and so their ability to focus, listen, and take the line is mildly to severely compromised depending on how much stress they're under).
@@jazzyje5ter223 do you realize what the definition of stress is? Do you also realize that "happy" is a completely nondescript word when you're talking about dog behaviour. What exactly is it that you see that makes you say the dog is "happy" specifically? Which behaviours tell you that? Also, probably would be helpful for you to look up the definition of and differences between eustress and distress, and also about stress in dogs, generalization of training, environmental stress, and thresholds. This dog is above their threshold, making them unable to perform as they did when practicing. This environment is not in any way replicable and so there are many dogs who can't handle it and bug out this way. Stress does not mean "bad" or "unhappy". At all.
The Dog Award: This award is given to the canine with the ability to compete with unbridled individuality and charisma regardless of the rules set by man
All husky owners already want to ask this guy how he managed to train his husky to competition level. Jesus I tell mine to sit and he runs away, I tell him to run he just sits there. I tell him foods here he's got a Son Goku instant transmission.
You shouldnt own a husky when you have no idea how to train a dog. Huskies are not family dogs meant for sitting idle at home all day, theyre work dogs.
You can see the intelligence in his eyes, it's not that he doesn't know what to do, it's that he's too smart to go by the rules! I used to compete with my doberman in competitive obedience. Boy, he was a smart dog. He also loved to make the audience laugh and put on a show (at my expense! 😂). It was embarrassing at the time, but looking back on those silly memories warms my heart and makes me smile every time. I sure miss my boy...RIP London ♥️
@@carlinianam0s We've had a Rottweiler, Bouvier, Am. Staf. Terrier and a Bull terrier. Believe me I have a Male Malemute food is sacred for the pole races XD.
I had to train my husky to walking by my wheelchair. During training we turned a corner, she saw a cat and I was catapulted out of the chair and across someone’s lawn. Her face when she turned round and went “whoops”. I couldn’t breathe for laughing. I’ve no idea how I landed on my feet at a 40 degree angle backwards to the ground hanging on to her lead.
Huskies are extremely stubborn because they were bred to ‘lead the way’ so therefore, they don’t usually follow commands. The riders on sleds would rely on huskies to find the way when they were lost, so huskies became very independent and too smart for their own good. They aren’t fooled to do tricks just for a treat.
Stubborn is not the word you're looking for. The word is intelligent and very persistent. Obviously any primitive dog is less socially inclined and not necessarily what one would call "biddable" - it ain't a Labrador. Primitive dogs, including Huskies, are very easy to train as a professional. Every dog is unique and you work with them that way. In terms of general dog owners, people call this stubborn because they don't know how to train a dog, let alone one that is highly intelligent and independent.
Chelsea Neville I hate to see people blaming their own incompetence on a breed. Any dog can learn basic obedience, owners just need to figure out what motivates their dog. If it’s not biscuits, so be it - find something else then!
ActiveAnimals I’m sorry that you think you can manipulate any breed into doing any tricks. Not all breeds are the same 🥴 Siberian Huskies are notoriously stubborn. I’m not incompetent and my huskies follow my commands most of the time and they’re highly trained. But one of their traits is independence and stubbornness, so please do research before calling other dog owners ‘incompetent’
As a husky owner this was too funny and relatable to watch! Lobo did great even if he didn’t do it all perfectly because getting a husky to do all that is a challenge!! They’re so independent minded 😅 Kudos to his trainers 🎉
much like my briards, if you have a breed that is independent thinking you have to accept it, especially if you go somewhere and your 45kg dog decides it IS NOT moving. Mine are fully trained, respond to voice and hand commands, but there are times, when they feel they know best.
Yeah, Huskies are so unique. They are just as loyal as any other dog, but their breed is the kind that has the guts and intelligence to save your life even when you're giving it mistaken instructions. They know when things are really important. And this course? Not really that important lol
Then they're haven't been adequately prepared for competition. There's at a very bare minimum one dog like this in every dog event the world over. All different breeds, ages, sexes, and all trained differently. Dogs can have bad days, they can be too stressed by the environment of the actual competition if the preparation wasn't adequate
Lobo: "Of course I can do all the things. But first, some attention and fun." Beautiful dog with his own way of doing things. Thanks for sharing this. It was a great way to start my day.
After being caretaker/caregiver to 3 Siberian Huskies, I can tell you that they are way too smart to be bothered with fetching. Elvis looked at me after getting the ball twice and practically said out loud "You go get it. I brought it to you two times and you threw it away again. I don't have time for these silly games". He gave me 12 of the best years of my life before he passed. I Love Siberian Huskies. Go Lobo.
My husky doesn't get the idea of fetching at all. If you throw something away it's obviously trash. Unless it's food that could still be good there's no point in running after it.
I get one fetch each time, never a second one. She loves playing but just like my 8 year old daughter, it's gotta be made up games and it's gotta be done her way.
I had 6 Siberian Huskies. All female. The biggest Diva was also the Alpha. My beloved red and white dipped blue eyed beauty. Kya. Then her 2 daughters. Chocolate brown & white blue eyed Galaxy & Cadbury. Cadbury's daughter Black Magic. Black & white blue eyed. Then Dotty a rescue Sibe. White with black patches. Her pure white bi-eyed sister Mystique. I'm also a qualified dog trainer of over 40yrs. Yet the MOST I could get my 6 Huskies to do. Was to sit at the same time lol. Which always drew a crowd up our local town. As my 6 Huskies sat in a row. Yet if a police siren went off or ambulance. My Diva would howl her head off followed by the other 5. Till the siren was out of earshot. It was madness lol. Yet no one complained ever. My girls were well loved in our area.

Considering that 5 million people have watched Lobo go off the rails, I'd say he's the favorite. Everyone will remember him from the competition, so yeah in a way he won. :D
Assuming that 1 view equals 1 person, which is also assuming that the overwhelming majority only watched this video once. One person can be 20 views if they watched it that many times. 🙂
People asking me in the dog park; ''are huskies that hard to train?'' me: ''oh not at all, I have my husky completely trained, observe'', ''come here girl'' my husky procceeds to stand there and watch me defiantly call for her me: ''well, I tried my best''
Oh my God what a typical husky brain. Those dogs are so cool. You want to get him to focus on work, maybe strap some weights to him so he feels like it's worth the effort. Haha. Love this dog, love the crowd reaction, and love his partner just patiently encouraging him to get back on task. Excellent job to distracto Lobo and his excellent patient partner. Agility can be a fast paced, nail biting, action show, but in the end, it's about partners working together to have a good time. This is freaking awesome. All thumbs up to this fun duo.
The owner was brilliant. He took it all in his stride. It’s nice to see someone who doesn’t go nuts over losing but enjoys the fun experience with his dog.
He did far better than I would expect for a Husky... he actually completed (most of) the course, he only left the green carpet once, with penalties he did keep it under 3 minutes. Now let's see a border collie pull a sled in sub-zero temperatures.
This isn't a competition about pulling a sled in sub zero temps. It's about speed, agility, and intelligence. Leave Lobo where he belongs, pulling a sled where the scenery never changes unless your the lead dog. Which a purebred husky never is.
@@Loruca Yes. Coldest I was in while in Prudhoe Bay was below -40 (where F and C match) (I think -45 F) with wind chill. Without wind chill the average January daily low in Prudhoe is -17 F (-9 C), where I lived in Kenai (just South of Anchorage) the average monthly low in January is 8 F (-13 C) with individual days dipping much lower. I was leaving Prudhoe on a delayed flight with a wrist in a brace so I couldn't fit my hand in my pocket or a glove, and didn't have any extra clothing readily available (already checked in). In a walk from the airport to a hotel/restaurant across the street that I timed under 1:20, my hand was completely numb and took over 20 minutes to get any feeling whatsoever back (had me a little nervous). Before you gasp, realize that the specialized clothing is so warm that you have to shed it the moment you get inside or you will break into a sweat in a couple of minutes, so unless you are in a strong wind, it really isn't as bad as it sounds, and you don't need to wear lots of layers. If you spend enough time in the Agility course field there’s two universal truths: Huskies will almost always never do the course, and Border Collies will be the only breed in the 16 Inch class
Correction on the inch class. I’m European and use metric 😅
The Siberian Huskyyyy?
The way we can hear his eyebrows go up is fantastic 😂

0:30 is achievement by itself. Husky sitting on a spot when owner leave. This husky clearly shown passion to finish the course - no naps, no escape attempts. Seriously - did anyone remember at least one of other competitors?
There was an escape attempt…
As a husky owner I'm surprised Lobo didn't just stay in the tunnel and chill there😲

Yeah, mine did that, at the Agility Training Introduction. That was the end of it.
I expected him to come out of the same end of the tunnel he went in at! 😅

Yeah baby!
Ha ha I love the snack break attempt. Lobo: "Can I just...." Lady: "no"

Yes to all of the above, but i choose to be a Husky.
Lol oh those Silly Sibes!
thats what i was thinking u cant train a husky they are like the wild horse
They are all of that & so much more. Def not a good match for all people! They epitomize the "I did it MY way" song IMO.
Nice SAT words.
@@andec6240 Heard it's because when they were sled dogs it was beneficial to have dogs who would protest if the owner made them go on ice that's too thin. So they were bred to have a strong character and just say no if the command doesn't seem right/safe.
That stroll through the slalom section was priceless.
Absolutely. Just a walk in the park no need to hurry through this.
Yep, Lobo was bored.
Notice that he eyed the station first at 0:51 like " the heck is this?!?", then seconds later he was like " I'm gonna try this thing out...like this?", Then aftet people cheering, he was like, " Yahhh!!! I am on fire baby!!!!" 😎😎😂🤣
If you watch that bit with Stayin Alive playing it just sort of ties it all together
As an owner of two Siberian huskies, this makes perfect sense.

At least my horse & a little child enjoyed it ☺️
I like how he can so clearly do it, he just chooses not to

There are 2 times of huskies in agility:
- Lazing around, not doing the course
- Zooming around, doing anything but the course
or the ones that are too terrified to even step foot on the course and instead bolts away in zoomie fashion turning it into a game of chase

oh same. I'm glad the owner was still supporting him even if he didn't want to do everything he was told.
That's cause it went WAY better than he expected. He must've lost a bet or something to put a husky in an agility contest 😂😂😂
@@alcambio8923 I have a houseful of huskies. I know what they are like.
He is too happy, lol. He’s trying to listen but his happiness is making him stop.
Chelsea Neville nah dog seems pretty happy
@@jazzyje5ter223 Then you haven't seen stressed dogs that often, my guy. Do some research 🤷🏻♀
Sheria :3 or “my gal”
At all.

me tooooo, totally understand ! cant agree more !!! Take my hat off for this husky owner !!
😂). @@ThePinkBinks LOL! Needs more dinner!
@@animalobsessed1 cheers!

Husky’s are just the breed to do perfectly in training, and then at the competition be like “nah man I really don’t feel like it”
Then they're haven't been adequately prepared for competition. There's at a very bare minimum one dog like this in every dog event the world over. All different breeds, ages, sexes, and all trained differently.
Dogs can have bad days, they can be too stressed by the environment of the actual competition if the preparation wasn't adequate
They really don’t like being told what to do when 😂😂

After being caretaker/caregiver to 3 Siberian Huskies, I can tell you that they are way too smart to be bothered with fetching. Elvis looked at me after getting the ball twice and practically said out loud "You go get it. I brought it to you two times and you threw it away again. I don't have time for these silly games". He gave me 12 of the best years of my life before he passed. I Love Siberian Huskies. Go Lobo.
Oh how true, mine runs after it and keeps going 🤣🤣🤣
12 is too young! :( Sorry for the loss.
My husky doesn't get the idea of fetching at all. If you throw something away it's obviously trash. Unless it's food that could still be good there's no point in running after it.
My Penny would look at me as if to say,”I don’t do the fetch thing”. She was my stubborn princess and I will always miss her
I get one fetch each time, never a second one. She loves playing but just like my 8 year old daughter, it's gotta be made up games and it's gotta be done her way.

He did far better than I would expect for a Husky... he actually completed (most of) the course, he only left the green carpet once, with penalties he did keep it under 3 minutes. Now let's see a border collie pull a sled in sub-zero temperatures.
