Absolutely gorgeous! What a fantastic men's choir. I felt the Spirit and felt their testimonies of Jesus Christ. THANK YOU!

One of my all-time favorite Christmas songs. I remember singing this in my high school choir and have always loved it. It's so hard to come by a version of it but this was so beautifully done. Thank you!

Lutheran pastor Rev Carl F. Schalk composed the music for this hymn, Lutheran pastor Rev Jaroslav J. Vajda wrote the words to this hymn. Please change your credits. Concordia Publishing House owns the copyright not the company you listed.
Stop the thief of copyrighted material on youtube. I've reported this to youtube.

The music composition is not attributed to Schalk because C. Courtney re-composed new melodies for this text. Courtney is also a leading editor for Beckenhorst Press, so there is a slim chance Concordia publishing has any right to this. There is so no theft of material in this song, and you're an idiot.

Schalk indeed wrote a tune for this text, but he didn't write *this* music. Craig Courtney did. Concordia indeed owns the copyright for Schalk's music, but it doesn't own it for *this* music. Beckenhorst Press does.

Mr. Marquardt, they are two musical settings of the same text. Here is another performance of Courtney's:

And here is a fine performance of Schalk's:

@@paulbuckley1715 You don't understand the difference between an arrangement and and original music. Courtney is an arranger, Schalk was the music's author/writer. I'm just a regular person I can understand that -- why can't you?
No comment for Courtney writing music in France in the 17th century like he claims?

@@johnmarquardt1991 I'm a musician, and so yes, I understand the difference between an original composition and an arrangement. Schalk and Courtney wrote two completely different original melodies for Vajda's text. Listen to the two recordings I linked. To put the difference in do-re-mi terms, here's the first line of each:
      Schalk:
ti do re mi re do ti la re ti la so
      Courtney:
so do re re mi mi, so do re re mi mi
Two completely different melodies. Don't take my word for it. Listen.
