    Great video Kirk. Very interesting to see how you tackled this job . Just shows how plastering is more than just re skimming walls with multi finish.

    Glad to see you back buddy.
    That is the strangest house I've ever seen. I don't think I've seen a metal clad house before. These non-standard construction houses... no wonder you can't mortgage them!
    Looking a lot trimmer as well mate. The timber is shedding away!
    I also have that Titan SDS. It's an absolute beast!
    😆😆 sticks like shit to a blanket! But what a top bloke and tradie, taking this job on, and putting the time in to come up with a brilliant solution for the customer. Such pride in your work, and a true professional.
    Can't wait for the next part!

    Maybe a video on sponge floats. I never seen you use them but i was impressed last time i used one before patching up some plastering just before the final finsih. Good luck with your channel.

    What a great video Kirk thanks mate. Really want to get into doing that kind of work but don’t want to run before i can walk. Been very weary of it but that cleared a few things up and I feel confident to give it a go on a smaller Job maybe something at home. Cheers Kirk . Also can i just say what a genuine top bloke you are pal. Absolutely loving the vids mate keep up the good work. The help that you put out there is gold and it’s very much appreciated cheers fella 👍🏻

    Hi again Kirk. After having all my power tools got lifted i also now buy titan. I have almost the full range, they dont stand out to scroats and touch wood have been reliable so far, the big breaker for £180 would of cost you a grand a few years ago. Besides im from yorkshire so i am a tight en.

    Expanding foam grabs lovely to timber, I use it for skirting now! Works out very cheap and grabs lovely! Very interesting vid mate keep them coming 👍

      It's a good shout if there is a gap where the dpc is. You can fill it with foam

      @@garygreenfield8495 yeah mate definitely, you do have to cross pin it,I fire a pin 45 degrees one way then 45 the other. Been doing it for years and never had a problem

      @angejordan3064 Рік тому

      Don’t use ‘normal expanding’ foam. A polyurethane foam adhesive like Instastick , but let the foam pick up first or wedge it in place until it sets, as it will push out.

    System build properties are as a rule unmortgageable so Local Authorities generally do work like this to system built housing to make them mortgageable; the spec is agreed with the builder/designer and the Building society so they would provide a mortgage for the finished property. To get a spec you need to approach the relevant Building Society who will say (but not provide) a spec for this work. They won’t give the spec because if they do then tjey are liable for the finished work

    • @Onthetrowel
      @Onthetrowel  Рік тому

      Hey mate, just so you know, these type of houses (BISF) aren't pre fab houses. They were built around the same time as pre fabs but they were designed to last as long as a traditionally built home.
      So your house is actually better than you thought mate 😀

    Clever ,if moisture gets behind the wood ply ,the air flow should dry it out ,because of the metal sheeting being left in place

    Mate, are you aware of how much these buildings expand and contract? I lived in these types of houses and you can hear them "ping" in the summer and "clang" in the winter!! Having never rendered them I'd be more concerned about the render cracking and your substrate bowing or blowing.

    • @Onthetrowel
      @Onthetrowel  9 місяців тому +2

      I know mate, the council have gone around and done nearly every single one this way, I'm just going around picking up the ones that people bought before the revamping.
      We use a flexible thincoat render on top of insulation boards that are glued and screwed to the metal.
      Also take into account, now the metal is behind 100mm of insulation it won't be getting hot in direct sunlight so all is good 👌

      @@Onthetrowel Good job, my man. I can tell you from experience from when I owned one of these houses here in Glasgow, the first time you hear a massive "ping" sound in the summer you shit your pants!! Also we get more severe winter here too so the "clang" sound may be the frame just shifting back into place😂😂😂
