- Yorkshire's newest MP paid tribute to her late sister in a House of Commons speech. The Batley and Spen MP won a byelection in July, the same seat held by Cox until she was murdered by a far-right extremist in June 2016.

It is customary to pay tribute to one's predecessors - and as she paid tribute to her sister, she made the point that she would rather not have had to do so; for, if her sister hadn't been brutally murdered, she wouldn't have stood for election herself.
