I love how you used "Team America" as a reference for what Mount Rushmore should look like. 😂
for real
i sing that theme song all the time
This is the most emotional reaction to The Truman show I’ve ever seen.
That’s for sure.
Never in a million years would have expected ANYONE to react like that. Even the constantly depressed Jim Carey never cried that much about this. It's beautiful but surprising.
@@christoffsimply3179 I honestly thought they were watching a completely different movie and just edited the wrong reaction to this. I liked it, though.
I've never cried so much to a reaction😢
Are you aware you're watching fiction? ...and being watched too, lol
I never seen anyone reaction to the Truman show like this. Poor Hella. She needs a hug. She was making me tear up
Indeed. And they must have been wearing a quality "anti-tears" brand of makeup..! No visible mess 😶😶
I love how Hella has learned about US landmarks from Team America. "that's not Mt. Rushmore!" 😊
I genuinely cracked up, love em 😭🫶🏽♡
I love how passionate they were throughout the entire movie. Especially Hella 😂
30:53 45:15 😭 so cute
@@epoh8698 Same. This was definitely the one they were most passionate about imo.
Sometimes I have the impression that Americans do not understand the word reaction when watching some channels that I will not mention. Of course I exaggerate a little, but I am Spanish and passion is natural here. These girls are charming.
@@jesusfernandezgarcia9449 what are you on about? Lmao
When the movie came out most people knew what the premise was going in. Now I know what it looks like to find out as Truman finds out.
It’s incredible how much of an impact this movie had in the world.
Yet certain people have the stupidity ro say that it’s “underrated!” 🙄🙄
But then again, EVERYTHING is underrated to die many people… they misuse that word, that’s the problem
The anger on Hella's face when she realized what was going on, YESSSSS.
The Truman Show is not a comedy. It's an Horror movie.
Brilliant reaction.
😂 @ horror.... riiiiiiiiiiight.....
@@The_Deaf_Aussieyes? It is a terrifying concept.
@@dreadd90 Totally. It's a bit of a lot of genres. but the horror aspects make this movie almost like a predecessor to Black Mirror and such
@@dreadd90 Not even just terrifying, its sick. Like Nazi experiment level sick.
@@The_Deaf_Aussie You are in a giant cage, and every second of your life is recorded. Every time you eat, sleep, have sex. Every intimacy, everything. It's all recorded and seen.
Your whole life.
Yeah. Pretty horrific.
“…In case If I don’t see ya: good afternoon, good evening, and good night😊”
Best way to end to it!
47:28
"I'm tired" she says.
Oh my girl we all hear you.
This movie hit hard and kept hitting until the very end.
I think the most amazing part of your reactions happened when you realized what was actually happening. You started laughing at the silliness of the situation, then began feeling awkward, then the anger. And more anger. As much as this movie made both of you cry, I do believe it was out of anger more than anything else. I don’t care if I sound like a broken record, but that was the best reaction ever.
agreed.
@@YoureMrLebowski that was the best reaction I have ever seen it was all pure emotion in real time you would never see emotion like that from any top actor or actress
We like to see a real reaction just like the people in the movie like to watch the real reactions of Truman in the Truman show.... damn...
It's not at all a comedy. It's a horror movie.
I thought Hella was little over the top with her performance this time around
Hella might just have the purist heart on the entire planet right now. Don't ever stop being a beautiful person, inside and out.
Definitely one of the most heartbreaking reactions I’ve ever seen and definitely the most saddest I’ve seen for The Truman Show. Tien throwing her headphones was definitely a first that I’ve ever seen for a reaction. Bless their hearts. I’m glad they had each other to lean on there. Ladies I don’t usually recommend movies here because most everyone else will do that but I also recommend you watch Carrey’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Oh and Tien now rivaling Chi for cursing and I love it!
Wasn't expecting this to break Hella this much.
It is indeed a drama but played very lightly and for laughs 95% of the time, so I've never given the dark aspect of it that much thought. Thank you, great reaction 🥲
This is one of your best videos yet!
Personally, I wish we were given just one shot of Truman and Sylvia even standing 100 feet from each other.
Tien and Hella, you are both so empathetic and caring. We need more of you in this world. Hugs to you both.
@@antondzajajurca7797 No, they are not acting! They let themselves emote without suppressing their feelings. But I kind of feel that WE are the Truman audience, watching Tien and Hela, vicariously experiencing their emotions about Truman the way we did when we first watched the movie. Is it life or is it a show?
Who woulda thought being emotional unstable on UA-cam would be profitable 😂
@@charmingjinx9379I was about to say the same thing. Very meta. 😵
Wow, talk about a visceral reaction.
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anyone so immersed in the storyline.
The way all of you perceive the world around you is quite refreshing and endearing and much appreciated by us all.
What a great channel and I look forwards to watching your reactions. Take care ladies.
42:38 awww loved the way Tien throws the headphones while Hella gets so emotional.
😳Hooo-leee shit that was intense. Not gonna lie, the way they reacted made me judge my own morality. I mean yes, they're right; it is very cruel what they did to Truman. Growing up in the US, we've became numb to this kind of manipulation and it lowkey hurts to see others realize that. Their reaction shown me how cold/numb we've became as a society. Out of all the reacts that I've watched on UA-cam, this one hit me the hardest. Thank you for suffering through and making this video.
I hear you. It's similar here in Europe (both eastern and western). By the time people finish high school they are so desensitized due to ruthless competition, watching Game of Thrones, getting cheated on by your significant other, seeing how salesmen, bankers and gangsters are held in high regard, so you kinda expect people to f you over...
Makes me curious about what Vietnam is really like, what behavior standards prevail, what sort of content is consumed... And it makes me sad about what we've done with ourselves...
The wind, one brilliant day, called
to my soul with an odor of jasmine.
"In return for the odor of my jasmine,
I'd like all the odor of your roses."
"I have no roses; all the flowers
in my garden are dead."
"Well then, I'll take the withered petals
and the yellow leaves and the waters of the fountain."
the wind left. And I wept. And I said to myself:
"What have you done with the garden that was entrusted to you?"
(Antonio Machado)
Their reaction made me question is it a good idea to even watch reactions. Seeing them cry and be angered, and it be genuine- is that the kinda content I like watching? Visceral reactions? goodness I feel kind of guilty.
OMG!! I never seen hella lose it like this before😢😢😢
I remember feeling the same way when I first saw the Truman Show. I cried so much. It's a beautiful movie and such a tragedy, but I love how it ended. And I love how we don't get to see what happens to him after he leaves the studio, because no one else does. It's none of our business and he can go live his life how he wants to!
"Don't make yourself the hero."
Profound quote.
36:32 "Damn you!...Be Stoopid" lol my favorite reaction line.
Watching you two react leaves me with incredible appreciation for you. I've been seeing so much hatred lately on news feeds and social media. The racism and division is overwhelming. The two of you displayed an admirable demonstration of empathy and care for other people. I'm happy that you exist and contribute to beauty in the world. ❤️
It looked like a very tough watch for Tien and Hela. But it's one of those movies that people never forget. Amazing reaction as always, thanks to you both.
Gah I remember not being able to trust anything after it. Even now all these years later, you know, you never know.
That's why I keep my life boring as possible. Won't play their games. Viva la resistance.
19:54 What he noticed with magnifying glass was how two of her fingers were crossed. An old childish tradition is that "crossing your fingers" means its ok to not tell the truth or follow through on a promise you make when crossing your fingers.
I never thought I would hear that's not the true Mount Rushmore remember Team America
When I watched this movie as a kid... all I could think of was "This is so implausible...a giant indoor studio... this would never happen". It wasn't until I saw it as an adult that the themes really impacted me. These girls skipped straight to the impact. Well done!
Hella's childhood would be enlightening
You should really watch 'Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind' - another absolute tearjerker of a Jim Carrey film, and one where his acting capabilities really get to shine!
He plays different characters in his comedies also… he’s the only versatile comedian next to Robin Williams
@@nsasupporter7557 Check out Adam Sandler in "Reign Over Me". Was pleasantly surprised. It's nice to see comedian actors step out of their comfort zone and do well.
I knew he did well in other dramatic roles such as "Punch Drunk Love" also quite good but reign over me was more recent and hit a spot.
Well, I can honestly say I've never seen anyone cry during this movie. Let alone sob uncontrollably. Another genuine, heartfelt reaction, ladies. What a cool and touching display of empathy. You've become some of my very favorite reactioners to watch. Your reaction to Gran Turino might still be my very favorite
This was a film ahead of its time, as with social media and influencers, we live in a world where people willing became Trumans.
I loved this reaction almost as much as the movie itself. You two did a wonderful job expressing all of the different emotions that the movie throws at you. The level of sadness on display at the end really amplified my own sadness as I rewatched along with you. Thank you so much! I’m so excited to watch all of your other videos!
this I think is one of the best reactions to a movie I've ever seen. I'm sorry but I don't know how to spell either of your names but you two are some of the most insightful, sensitive, caring people I've ever seen react to a movie. thank you guys for being YOU, don't ever change because you're both amazing humans ❤❤❤.
I don't think I've ever seen somebody react to this movie who didn't already know the premise before starting it. Amazing!
Most of their channel are cold introductions. I wish I could go into films like T2 and Truman Show knowing nothing.
What were they thinking with the name and marketing... it's such a shame 90% of people knew the basic plot before seeing it
@@apoc519 i’ve never watched a trailer for the movie, but I have to imagine they put it all out there
@@CrashNTheBoys2002 are you insane? or is something wrong with you?
@@76marex no I’m just answering OP’s question.
This reaction gives me hope for humanity; not everyone is cold and indifferent.👍
Wow! What a beautiful raw reaction. Definitely one of my favorites ever. It proves that both of you have compassionate beautiful souls.
This kind of emotion is beautiful to see. Tears of grief and anger both at such a gigantic injustice!
This movie is amazing to see, but I feel that watching it while you two showed such extreme emotions made it TRULY awesome!
There's a lot of supplementary info that the final cut of the movie glosses over or leaves out in deleted scenes worth keeping in mind.
Like Meryl's in-universe actress cheating her way into Truman's life ahead of other applicants, a second channel planned for Truman's kid, Marlon's asking if they go back to single channel format once Truman dies and his kid is the new primary star, his stints in rehab, his genuine guilt, and him letting Truman go.
The show music itself is also not licensed, Truman knew that he was right when Marlon said he'd have to have been in on it, and Truman's dad reappearing sealed it.
42:20 we have people in our societies that do as they’re told for a paycheck and a pension. “Just following orders”. Very emotional dramatic reaction, but understandable too. What a show! Tien rips off the headphones-righteous anger.
18:56 LMAO I love that her reference for what Mt. Rushmore looks like is Team America lol
This is the most emotional response I've seen from a reaction to this movie. Haha
This movie is a dig at corporate US entertainment and how far they would go if allowed.
One thing no one mentions is it's also a commentary on the audience who would watch the show, (even a bar opened on the premise of the show), without a thought for Truman.
Then at the end after two decades they are like..."What's on the other channel...?"
Hella's insight into the parallels between this movie and the real epidemic of "helicopter parenting" is brilliant!
We have generations of overprotected kids growing up into dysfunctional adults.
Hey Movie Munchies - long listener, first time caller
Awesome reaction -- very interesting to see the movie from the perspective of people who had no idea what the premise was. Your shock and horror was palpable.
I wanted to echo the sentiments of other commenter who are recommending "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind."
Always enjoy your genuine and heartfelt reactions.
You two girls make me cry... Hugs
Wow. I don't think I've ever seen anyone cry with rage before.
I think you'd enjoy watching Pleasantville next. It goes well with the Truman Show.
That’s a good idea-the two movies do complement each other.
Pleasantville is a comedy. The Truman Show is a horror movie.
@@PhilBagels I don't understand your point. Alien is a horror film. Aliens is an action film.
@@Jagent I'm not sure how to make in any clearer. In Pleasantville, people are living their normal lives, and someone comes and changes things, and they have to figure out how to deal with it. It's a comedy of naivete.
In The Truman Show, a man is trapped in a false world and wants to escape. Everyone and everything in his world is there to keep him a prisoner.
You saw how they reacted. That's not how you react to a comedy. That's how you react to a highly effective horror movie.
@@Jagent PhilBagels is right. It's every bit a horror movie, where the monsters are the victim's "friends" and "family."
So glad to see this notification. It’s one of those films that I love seeing first reactions to! Thank you both 😁
I was raised in a very controlling religious cult. I was lied to more whole life about our church and how the whole world was against us. I eventually got out. I love this movie, because I can relate to it so much.
So what do you think of “society”? Do you think it’s a bigger cult? We are all brainwashed and fed lies all our lives. I realized when I was 16 that everything is made up. We made up the calendar, work days, the weekend, laws, buildings, entertainment, etc. We constructed this society from beliefs that were based on truths and lies. In a sense, we are all in a cult with a certain amount of freedom to give the illusion we are free.
damn man you should make some content about it. im sorry u had to endure all that but it would be absolutely fascinating to learn about. congrats on getting thru to the other side✌️
Oof. Of course, it's important to find new people you can trust, but if you ever feel alone and adrift, just remember: "Was anything real?" "You were real." Trust yourself to be your own anchor. _You_ were real. You know who you are, and you were strong enough to stand on your own. You can do this. Best of luck to you. 👍
@@WHADATBOYNAMEIS It is way more common than you think. There is a tool called the Bite Model, which is used to measure the level of control of different religions and other groups. The Bite Model does not actually use the term Cult, but it is used to determine if an organization is toxic, with the intent of helping to fix that organization. Most people consider a high score on the Bite Model a good indication that a religion is a cult, and I think that is a healthy way to use the term cult. Members of my old faith would disagree and feel hurt if they were called a cult, but the level of toxic control, the attacks on ex-Members (mostly ostracization and attacks on reputation rather than violence but that happens) as well as the financial exploitation of members in both getting them to fork over large amounts of money and time and the lies used to get them to provide free labor to the church. Their leaders tell everyone that no member, including leadership is paid for their church work, and yet the church leadership all live in mansions, ride around in limos and private jets and go on expensive vacations several times a year while everyone else suffers
@@davestang5454 The movie is about control and gaslighting. It applies to a great many scenarios that exist in modern day, including religion and government. Similar to how The Matrix was written as an allegory for the transgender experience but it applies to a great many real life experiences, so many in fact that most audiences didn't figure out the original intent until the directors came out as trans.
We all hate commercials but nobody hates commercials more than Tien and Hella.🤣 I saw a different perspective watching this reaction. The empathy was off the chart. You ladies have such a pure soul. 👏👏👏
Product placement has become more and more prevalent in all forms of media and all over the world. I'm a big fan of K-Dramas and they are maybe a little bit more subtle, but it's still noticeable and very common throughout the series run. I don't know how many times I've seen an actor break out a package of Kopiko (coffee hard candy) and suck on a piece to have another actor ask "Can I have one?" or "Is it that good?". 😆
@@ronbo11 LOL, so true.
Modern american dystopia really do be hitting different.
22:45 "Does he know how to drive?"
Probably not. Driving a commercial bus requires a Class C CDL which requires a weekend's worth of training. But it doesn't matter. The objective is to prevent Truman from _leaving._
Hella is just too adorable, her reactions are so pure.
love the "i think i'm going to throw up" and his stoney faced reply "me too"
It's a scary thought knowing that when you need help the most, everyone and everything around you is against you.
Probably the most amazing reaction I've seen to any movie. All of you ladies do such a great job. I guess the whole Idea of movies is to extract all sorts of emotions from us. But to see you two react this way just shows me that there are some amazing actors and directors out there. Oh and Greetings from Vung Tau!!
I usually watch their reactions to comedies but I'm glad I watched this one. Their hearts are so big. Especially poor Hella; she was really going through it here.
I just watched the Liar Liar reaction directly before this and the contrast between their reactions to each movie is beyond night and day. I don't know if I've seen them laugh so hard than they did at Liar Liar and I've certainly never seen them cry so hard as they did here. It's really a huge testament to Jim Carrey and his capability and range as an actor. He was my absolute favorite actor of all time growing up and it feels so special to watch someone experience his works for the first time.
You ladies have become incredibly insightful and empathetic throughout your development watching all these movies. Stay awesome
THAT WAS AWESOME! I was starting to worry about you two and I was hoping the end would come soon so you could see Truman finally made it out. WHEW! You girls are beautiful,! 💓😎👍
It's crazy to think how all of cinematic history unfolded specifically for the purpose of leading to this one hour video. I've never seen such an intense reaction to a film, and it gives me an entirely new appreciation for the art form.
Glad to see your reaction.
It multiply the emotions of the movie
When I watch this movie I can't help but cry and question if my life is real :(
It broke my heart to see Hella cry like that.
5:08 _"That_ is a beer."
And _that_ is a commercial.
33:20 - "Is that legal?" LOL!!!
Cuteness overload hehehe
People cross their fingers when making promises they don't mean. Basically, it was showing that she was lying during the wedding.
Once Truman leave, I think he's got quite the lawsuit on his hands.
Billions.
Crossing fingers is also what you do when you are making a wish too. So when he said he would cross his fingers for her it was a play on the double meaning of the gesture.
The studio, the producers, the sponsors - they all owe him a hell of a lot of money. And a whole lot of people need to go to prison for a very long time.
23:05 "That's it?!? Like, they just got up and walked out? Say _nothing_ about that? You guys are bad acting!" 🤣
When I watched this long ago, I hopefully began looking around for signs that I was a Truman show. I feel that some of us could really use a reset on life like that. And everyone would know what you're capable of, so finding a good job doing what you like shouldn't be too hard?
Super stylish glasses Hella!
His last name, Burbank, is a reference to Burbank, California. It's just a few miles from Hollywood, and many entertainment and media companies have their headquarters and major studios located there. And if you ever plan on visiting LA, i highly recommend flying in and out of the Burbank airport instead of LAX.
100%. Burbank Airport for the win!
I've never seen anyone get so emotional to this movie, I understand it had emotional parts.
We are stars in our own Truman Show. Each one of us.
You girls are too sweet! ❤ Never change :)
Such a sweet soul I actually didn't grasp it when I first saw it I was too young but later watching it again I had the same reaction another good two dramas eternal sunshine for spotless mind and the majestic
Jim was butchered by critics for the movie which I still to this day don't understand
You girls were so smart in the beginning of the film when you kept saying that sounds like a commercial, is she trying to sell something?... Because you figure out the premise of the movie before you truly realized it!
18:56-19:06 Had me dying ladies 😂 but you right.
Hela is awesome 🥰🥰🥰 I hope I find somebody like her.
The most similar thing to this that I've heard of happening in real life is the story behind the documentary "The Contestant". It was about a guy on a Japanese game show. He was one of the most famous people in Japan for about a year, but was so isolated he didn't know it.
That was a rollercoaster of emotions 👏🏼
This was a "glasses off" moment, Hella, I think.
49:17 "...he's about our age, i guess." -Hella
Jim Carrey was 36 years old when the Truman show was released in 1998. 🙂
@@sinther1 under 25? who knows.
Damn, what an emotional beatdown she took.
I haven't seen that many tears since I watched "Hachi: A Dogs Tale".
50:28 "But, you know, like, if... if... if _I_ or maybe _you_ was like know that your whole life was a fake, you _not_ just gonna say that inna- inna whole world. You gonna say 'Fukk you, world!'"
I get the impression that's what Truman was saying by just walking out. He understood, as the only member of that cast who sincerely believed he was living his true life, he was the cornerstone of their business model, without which, they were doomed to collapse now that he was gone.
Poor Hala. Its a sad but victory movie. When he said "Good evening and good night" this was closure
These poor girls were going through it!
its nice to see people have such emotion for movies
Hello Hella & Tien!😊 Poor Hella got very emotional during this one!😭 Tien was mostly angry at what they did to Truman!😡 Great emotional reactions to this well made and acted film, Ladies!!!!🎬👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Wow! This was one of the best reactions to a movie that I've seen on UA-cam!
Hella don't ever change ! Your jagged emotions , are both refreshing , and devastating . To see you so completely immersed in the story being depicted , shows the power of the medium . Truth in fiction ! It is incredible that Jim Carrey was not even nominated for an Academy Award , something about him JUST being some buffoon comedian . I think this movie shows who the true buffoons are .
You guys are amazing. I love this movie so much I watched it almost daily. Hella I wanted to give you a big hug. I am glad you guys watched it.
This movie is brilliant on so many levels. You have to watch the movie again and again to catch the details that didn't meet the eye on first viewing.
The social media today makes a lot of us the viewers glued to the screen (mobile/tv/laptop) hoping to be on trend.
If I was going to pick a movie that was going to break Hela? It wouldn't have been The Truman show. Not in a million years.
Wow, I follow your channel for quite some time now and love all your reactions but this was definitely the most emotional rollercoaster ride I ever watched! Hella and Tien, you show so much empathy and genuine emotions, it's pure joy and sometimes so hard to watch at the same time😂 Thank you so much for sharing your emotions wih us and regularly taking us on such unique experiences. Keep up your great work and please never change. Many greetings from Germany and all the best to you...and Chi of course😊
Geez, Hella is gonna be pissed when she finds out we're all just actors...
The Hella Show
I love this movie. A similar one they have to watch is Groundhog Day!
Dang Hella, you even gave me the feels.
I always find the part where his boat hits the wall and then he's trying to break through it very disturbing because I've had nightmares like that all my life, that I was trapped inside a building and couldn't get outside. Often in my dream I manage to smash through a wall or ceiling only to find that there is a bigger building built around the one I was just inside.
So many westerners don't catch/understand the crossed fingers, and you both caught it. Very impressive.
Your Truman Show reaction rocked our worlds, ladies!!
I don't think I've ever seen such a passionate and caring emotional reaction....not ever. You two are such genuine and sweet people 💖. The world needs more like you💯
This will be good.
