- Carol Burnett and George Hearn sing "Do I Hear a Waltz?", originally from Stephen Sondheim's musical of the same name.
This excerpt is from the highly recommended Region 1 DVD "Putting It Together" of a live 1999 performance of this Sondheim revue. Other excerpts are available at

God I love George Hearn...he's now 82 years old....still vibrant...first saw him in 1985 - La Cage Aus Folle...amazing performance...he received constant standing ovations throughout the show that evening...wonderful memories...
I recently discovered George Hearn, and I’ve been fangirling over him ever since. I’m mad I’m just now seeing him.
The chemistry is perfect 👌🏻 I love these two legends
This song is not from the show 'Do I hear a Waltz'. Music and lyrics for this song were written by Sondheim for an earlier project - a possible tv musical for Judy Holliday, but it never got beyond the talking stage. The Rodgers show came later. (See Sondheim's book ''Look, I Made a Hat" page 386.)
Thanks for setting this straight. I wonder if Rodgers knew that Sondheim had written an earlier version of the song.
Hearn is the sort of wonderful voice one used to hear on Broadway. How He (and that sort of expertise) is missed!
Hearn..has a Man's Leading Man Voice...seldom hear his type on Broadway anymore.
Excellent calming music for my terminal brother. Sondheim relaxed his fidgeting and he relaxed.
*Snap* ~Lights~ "Oh would you look at that?!"
Absolutely loved this show!! Bought the dvd two years ago so I could watch it over and over!

Could somebody make a playlist off all the songs in order?
This is so cute. can i do it at my wedding?
@THEBeautyofebony - there is a playlist on this channel that includes most (if not all) songs in order.
Did you see her on the last Hawaii Five-O?
@calamitygulch - I'm sorry I don't know the history, but your premise makes sense to me. There may have been licensing issues that couldn't be overcome.
This is a new “Do I Hear a Waltz”. Not the one I’m familiar with.
"There's only one show I really think was a waste of time: Do I Hear a Waltz? I did it as a favour for some people; I wrote the lyrics, and Richard Rodgers wrote the music. It's an ugly metaphor, but I always compare it to a dead baby: it looks perfectly fine, but it does not have one moment of life." -- Sondheim, 2012
@celine2010 I want the DVD so bad!!!!!
@bookwormx221 Lol!!!
"Do I Hear a Waltz" is Broadway's "Dylan and the Dead" - a collaboration between two amazing artists that ends up being each artist's nadir, or close to it. This song is really quite banal. Good singing though.
this song is NOT from the show "do I hear a waltz"...and the music is not Rodger's...he wrote better tunes
Depp was a good Sweeney Todd.... You've got to remember that the film was set out as a horror and not a musical for the film and therefore Depp was perfect for the part. Also, the portrayal of Sweeney in the film is very different to the portrayal of him on stage! I respect you have an opinion but please don't force it upon others...
Depp AND Bonham Carter were both ghastly. and the whole concept entirely missed the point of SWEENY. Phooey.
Not bad...but Rodger's tune is better
Since Depp (Like most of the films cast) sucked as Sweeney, I'm not sure how seriously to take your evaluation. Also, as good as Hearn was, please remember that the original Sweeney was played by Len Cariou.
@ttempahsbsngintunes They could have at least had someone dub his vocals. Vocally, he was (and is) horrible for the part.
