Rob, this was amazing. This cartoon, I have been gearing up to watch for a few months, bought the dvd set last year, and this has just catapulted me into the right frame of mind to watch it, which is a rare trick sir. What an awesome idea to have an animation historian on, but more to the point, for everything that was said by him to be so bloody interesting, everything he said was worth listening to. I had a lot of the toy line growing up, and I did like the toys, but never thought to modify the proton streams because that was something that I too disliked there. Stay Puft, another good point, why was he so close in scale to the other figures? I learned a lot from this video, please keep up these amazing deep dives into these series. Just fantastic, well done to everyone involved.
Thank you so much!!! We certainly discussed a lot of topics and James is just such a rockstar history expert too. This is a segment from my new show “Planet Cool Stuff” which drops globally on May 1. So if you like this kind of thing, you’ll probably dig the entire vibe of the show which also includes toys, comics, video games, movies and more!
Mannnn, this is so good. I love this. MORE PLEASE!
Its part of my new series “Planet Cool Stuff” - drops globally on May 1! Keep sharing!
I remember avoiding any and all reboots with the word “extreme” tacked on. It was kind of a thing back then. I’m surprised he didn’t mention Janine’s amazing twist toward the end where they retconned her character as having been possessed, for *years*, to explain why she was acting like a stepford wife for all that time. Flint Dille talks about it in his book. He basically demanded it, he hated what they had done to her. Such an awesome read.
Interesting- I don’t remember that part from Flint’s book and he didn’t work on that show but happy to be wrong!
And yes, “extreme” is not a great moniker for any reboot
@@RobMcCallum99 Hey Rob, you know what? I was thinking of J. Michael Straczynski's book! "Becoming Superman!" I read both around the same time, and for some reason I thought Sunbow was involved in TRG. I will say that one was even more amazing, definitely a must read!
I have the complete collection that Time Life made which was The Real Ghostbusters station with the DVD set inside.
Awesome!!!
I haven’t seen that one, the one I have is just a standard plastic dvd box but seems to contain something like 10 series. I am in the U.K., was this fire station set US bought?
@@RocketLauncherwithInfiniteAmmo Yes I got it back in 2013 for $80 brand new.
