UPenn is so pretty. Very different from the standard Ivy League schools in the way it looks- no big castle-like buildings and vast lawns. Instead, it looks like downtown Boston- stone streets, small European-style buildings and trees everywhere. This is a campus I’d enjoy being on!
jelphic wow congrats! Btw I had one more question, let’s say I graduate with a 3.8 unweighted and maybe 4.2 weighted, with a 1450+ SAT along with multiple honors, ib, and/or AP courses, do I have a standing chance in the ivy leagues? (Im a highschool freshman rn and was just wondering)
In all these ivy league videos students say that there are more hookups than ships, people wear jeans and crop tops to parties and a canda goose jackets during winters. Also they all help each other and want to be rich. :D
@@Nikki-ks6wi Still not for us in Lebanon who have entered the lebanese public university. You have 30credits/semester. Equating around 60hours of self study and 30hours of uni attendance that is if you want to pursue medicine later. so 90hours studying/week. So, yeah, doesn't work like that. I entered this free university because it is one of the top in the world and its free(+I don't have to work while studying)
@Rocky_Tx some people that go to community college don't end up going to 4 year colleges because they can't afford it. plus, when you think about it, it's a pretty smart way to go about it
@Rocky_Tx I see your point that connections are important, but to be candid it also sounds like you don't have a holistic understanding of education. Education is not a route to a job. Education is a mechanism for improving and exercising freedom. Education is what you make of it. Everyone who decides to embark on the journey of higher education has their own path and does best when they base that path on their unique (beautiful and diverse) circumstances. In other words, there is no one path to education. Therefore, community college is a completely valid path to higher education and is worth exploring on a channel like this one. Aside from that, your comments are weird to me because I see these videos partly as a celebration of the diverse backgrounds of these intelligent people. Your comments on community college, which you argued through anecdotal evidence, come across as at least naive and nearing elitist. You come across as if you believe people who attend community college are lesser; you sound like you are disregarding the diverse pathways people take to become educated. If this is an accurate read of your writing then you are wrong, and it is an ugly problem in your moral disposition that desperately needs attention.
I went to a community college, graduated from CSU in Political Science and a minor in Legal Studies, and just this spring passed my bar exam to go into to law school, and saved thousands of dollars!
It's so weird to me because I feel like parties are such a big part of college in the US, where in France, we go to school to study and we don't really have campuses. We actually live with our parents or get an apartment near by
I think it’s all part of US college student life . Being part of clubs are also part of the student life. Studying and continuous learning , collaborating and networking - which carries on after college .
I think it really depends on the school. When you think about it many business school or engineer schools are like that, students party a lot, many live on the campus, the majority are involved in clubs or associations. But it’s true that French universities don’t work like that, it’s more the private schools
same i live in puerto rico which is a US territory and college here is very different from the mainland like we dont have dorms, we stay with parents or appartments
If u don’t mind me asking ( and ik im 6 months late lmfaoo ) buttt i live in europe too and i really want to get accepted into any university in america . Aiko Peterson Spoony Snoop International student here 🙋🏻♀️ We’re kind of at a disadvantage because we’re international students. From what I’ve heard, colleges prioritize in-state applicants but they also want us for our money so don’t worry about it too much. Instead, focus on building your application, take the SATs if you can, do research on EA/ED schools (you have a higher chance of getting in esp due to covid) and take any english proficiency tests that you need to (this one is necessary for us int students unfortunately, no matter how fluent we are, even with covid). Last reminder - do loads of college research, it’ll help you with the supplemental essays. Hope this helps you! If you have anymore questions feel free to dm me on instagram @aikorachelpeterson
@@spoonysnoop3432 Don’t worry, international students get accepted a lot, it is common. Regarding education, I think you should be fine, as long as you have decent grades at school and pass the TOEFL/ IELTS/ Duolingo or any other English proficiency exam, you’re good to go! However, it depends on the school you’re applying to. And one more thing, since I’m also from Eastern world, I know that colleges don’t care TOO much on extracurricular activities, while top colleges in US do care about them, and don’t base their decisions solely on your grades, therefore you should consider having activities outside of school as well, and be able to show that you’re truly dedicated to them.
Penn junior here, the dining halls aren’t a 9 (more like a 5), new applicants can’t move off campus until junior year now, the airport is 20 min away not 30, and Greek life is more like 30% of students. Everything else is pretty accurate!
Hi, I'm a junior in high school and super interested in Penn, but is the pre-professional culture truly that overwhelming and negative? I'm looking for a more liberal arts curriculum where I can take courses regarding my different interests, and is Penn a good place for that?
I'm confused about how they ask the questions... Do they come up with them on the spot? If they have them prewritten, how do they adapt and make sure it's still 73? Either way it's impressive haha.
Well Dominique probably has those questions in front of her listed on a paper or something else... while the students get to review the questions prior being filmed I think, because I doubt that they could answer every single question right on the spot, without spending too much time.
