You hit the nail on the head my friend! I told Travis just getting back out feels good. The finds are nice too, but I’m mostly just happy about being healthy enough again to get out! Thanks so much for watching buddy
Thank you so much! I noticed your screen name immediately. Being from Frederick County, Maryland originally Barbara Fritchie is stitched into the lore that every child there learns. My mother is buried just a few hundred yards from Barbara Fritchie’s grave as well
Nice hunt! Finding a lot of bullets. Those are on my list to find one day. I’m only in the hobby about 11 months now and I’m loving it. Considering upgrading my detector.
Thanks so much for checking out the video bud. Travis and I have been hunting about 5 years together now and I’m lucky I have such an awesome dig buddy. Best of luck to you and I hope you find a ton of cool relics this year!
@@TobaccoRoadRelics I’m hoping this year will be my year for sure. Over the past year I have been learning so much. I’m in SC, I e been doing a lot of park hunting and I just got a good permission recently for n some farmland.
It was the kind of hunt our wives called us crazy for going on. But then again we’ve hunted in the snow, in 95 degree heat, when it was torrentially downpouring, etc etc haha. Anyway, looking back on it I wouldn’t change a thing! Hey man thanks so much for checking out the video and for the real nice comment. It means a lot to hear that. Many thanks!
Loved the video. Some very nice recoveries. 👍 I love digging old tokens, more than coins in most cases. I have a few listed on that Token Catalog site too. Was that hunt in NC too. Looked damn cold!
Hey Doug! Thanks so much for watching the video and reaching out. Oh man it was freezing. I had taken some insulated bibs with me, but once I got there I decided to hunt without them. That may have been the wrong choice. You can hear my nose sniffling the whole video. We were up in Virginia on this particular hunt. And yes I agree with you- something about those old tokens is just super cool. The other guy that posted that same token found his in New Jersey of all places!
Hey Mark! Man I sure appreciate you checking out the video and being kind enough to leave us a comment. Travis and I are just about obsessed with Civil War relic hunting. Something not everyone may know is that we live in an area where there wasn’t a ton of Civil war activity either. There was some- but not a lot. So these Civil War hunts you may see us go on are 3 1/2 hours one-way from our home. It costs a little in fuel- but it’s so worth it in my mind. Lately we’ve been doing two day hunts and just spending the night in a hotel to try to maximize our dig time. Thanks again so much for watching and I do hope at some point you get a chance to dig some Civil War relics. It is so hopelessly addicting! Take care bud.
Thanks for the link to the token catalog. Very good reference. I found a bracelet or necklace of J A Grisham tokens in Arkansas. They weren’t in the catalog but that’s okay. Still searching for info. There was also a Westinghouse Golden Jubilee token in the string with a 1936 date. I assume they were contemporary.
Thanks so much for watching the video and taking time to comment! I do hope you find the information about the J A Grisham tokens on jewelry. How cool!
Chris, Do you clean the dirt off of your bullets to get to the white patina, and display them that way, or do you prefer to leave them natural with the dirt on? Not big globs of mud of course, just the dirt I’m talking about. Thanks, Doug
Great question Doug- I am a sucker for that white patina. For a long time I was keeping them about half and half cleaned versus non-cleaned but I just love how they display cleaned up. I’ll let you in on a little secret though that not many people know and fully puts me into relic nerd status…I keep all of the dirt that I clean off of the bullet and from inside the conical base of the bullet that I get out of there. I don’t know…I just view it as something other than regular dirt. Kinda like hallowed ground to me. After over 1000 bullets all that dirt I’ve cleaned out of those bullets has a large zip lock bag about filled up. Maybe I’ll get an acorn from Gettysburg and use the dirt from those bullets and see if I can get something to grow one day. Ha
We are not brothers, but I consider him a brother. He’s my best friend. He and I both started detecting about six years ago and we live pretty close to one another and we began talking online and finally decided to go on a hunt together. From then on we’ve been very close friends and there’s not too many people I look up to like I do him
@@TobaccoRoadRelics That is awesome! So how long have yaw been doing UA-cam?! I know this may sound weird but My best friend I have the two names who lead the Israelites into the promise land. Also our birthdays are February 14 and 16. He is only a year and two days older than me. Just Amazing!

Loved your channel and hunt. I wish we could dig civil war bullets out here in Washington. Maybe I'll get to the south sometime.
