I worked in publishing and books are recycled and pulped all the time it’s good to repurpose them for art

Exactly. I used to work in order management for a large paper corporation that produced graphics paper for printers and publishers wholesale. Probably that's why I'm desensitized when it comes to drawing on a piece of print paper 🤭🌸

In my view, you have given a new life to the book. Instead of being forgotten or thrown away, which is sadly the fate of many books, it can now be admired as an artwork.
I like the first painting. I wasn't sure about it at first, but then BAM! It became beautiful.

What a fantastic idea to use a yellowed book page as toned paper! Love it!

As a kid I learned that books are kind of sacred and one isn't allowed to throw them away or otherwise destroy them. But then I convinced myself that since they are mass-made there's no harm in using them for collage, envelopes, gift wrapping etc. It's not as if you destroy a world heritage item. Even libraries throw out books they can no longer lend out.
Both of your pictures turned out beautiful, I prefer the watercolor one though 🙂 Thanks for sharing your art 🥰

Thank you for commenting 😊 🌺
The book that I used is one on the high school syllabus here in Hungary. It was an old cheap copy of a mass produced edition for students. Very easy to replace. Not an antique rarety.

You do you girl! You take a group of 5 people and you are going to get varying opinions on any topic. You can't please everyone. As long as you are not harming anyone, you do you!

I did enjoy this video!! Both pages, and I have a feeling the book in which you took a page from was maybe not a classic 😊.

How do you seal your oil pastels? Or do you just put glassine paper between those two pages?
I love the art, both pictures are beautiful!
