I hate to bring this up because this was an awesome video, but the "Appalachian" mountains go all the way through Scotland to Scandinavia. They were formed as part of the building of Pangaea. When the super continent broke apart, and the Atlantic was born, a segment of them stayed behind being called Scottish Highlands. This is not the only remnant of the Mount chain we call Appalachian Mountains but is better called Central Pangean Mountains. Mind you, due to the depth of base rock, it is believed this range was at least as high as the Himalayas. Remnants of this massive mountain range include the Appalachian Mountains of North America, the Little Atlas of Morocco, Ireland, the Scottish Highlands, and part of Greenland and Scandinavia.

And the Atlas Mountains in northwest Africa are geologically the same, part of the "Central Pangean Mountains"!

@@robynsnest8668 I live right near the New River in Boone NC... which is one of the highest elevations which the New River passes through...
And the New river isn't any deeper of a cut in the landscape, than any other river around here.
I mean the rivers in this part of the Appalachians (Right Around Boone) haven't exactly created deep canyons or georges, because of the slow flow rates.
The New River is exceptionally slow flowing in this area, and is very popular for Tubing.

Also that people had been theorizing about the matching shapes of coastlines for centuries before Wegener, but he was the first to create the theory of them once existing together as "Pangea."

@4Runner I'm not Christian personally, but there are recurrent symbols and stories throughout folklore around the world (from All-Mother figures of Earth and abundance, to ancient paradise gardens lost to time) that archaeologists and historians use to support evidence about the changes of Earth. I'm in Washington state and geologists here have been working with native tribes to keep their stories about ancient tsunamis or earthquakes- which correlate with the evidence of cores taken from sand deposits (showing the deposits of tsunami sand, or mud from landslides).
Ancient people knew far more than we allow ourselves to admit- just as we are inquisitive, curious, and storytelling creatures now; we were the same people thousands of centuries ago. We are the same humans!

Vertical rock formations are the result of thrust faults. Sometimes referred to as crustal forshortening .Think of it this way, your driving a Cadillac at 100 mph. You hit a bridge abutment head on, the vehicle becomes forshortened. In some cases the formation is flipped completely over. The only way to tell is by dating the fossils if any are present. In Maryland on Rt.68at 15 mile creek rd. there's a service rd. that parallels the highway, here there are ordovician strata over Pennsylvanian strata. So you have marine fossils over plant fossils with a goodly amount of slicken sides(polished by tectonic action ).

The explanations of the mountain building processes as with the Himalayas is due to the Indian sub continent, subduction get under 5he Asian continent. The Appalachian range was formed as the eastern part of the American continent began folding as the mid Atlantic ridge spreading continued. The Rocky Mountain range however was also formed from a subduction event and part of this is evidenced by the locations of volcanos in the Grand Canyon and New Mexico. Also that the HotSpot that is now Under Yellowstone as a super volcano had erupt I’ve events to the west of the current location. The Hot spot did not move, the American continent moved over it. In that there was an inland ocean in the Great Plains, this through weight on the central part of the plate, slowed the plate movement down causing the stress that formed the New Madrid Fault. It is still undetermined as to wether the Rocky Mountain range ,which extends into Canada was caused by just one plate subduction or two. If One, then the last remnants of that plate would be the Juan DeFuco plate that is being sub-ducted under the Cascadia range.

I disagree with your statement Walter that the Himalayas we're formed by the Indian plate subducting under the Asian plate to form the Himalayas. The Indian collided with the Asian plate to push up the Himalayas just as what was to become the North American plate collided with Africa and Europe to form the Appalachian Mountains. No subduction occured there either.
The bent, wave like rock formations as pointed out in both locations ( Himalayas and the Appalachians) are created by the compressional forces of the two land masses colliding.

And apparently misquoted you about the Appalachians but your explanation was still false. The Appalachians were not folding as a result of the mid Atlantic ridge spreading. The Appalachians were formed by the collision with Africa much like the Himalayas we're formed by the Indian plate colliding with the Asian plate. Since the Mid Atlantic ridge opened up the Appalachian Mtns have been gradually eroding down. Look it up. It was explained in this video by the way too except about the erosion of the mountains.

Serious but simple question. How do scientists know the core is iron?

    • @Lanse1984
      @Lanse1984 4 роки тому +7

Molted iron, uranium and thorium. Which are heavy metals.
When the earth formed it was all molten and heavy metals eventually made their way to the core.
To create the magnetic poles you need a spinning core within liquid metal otherwise it wouldnt exist. Hence Mars.
The theory is that the core has to have a heat generating source to stay molten. Hence the uranium and thorium reaction.
Eventually though, these radioactive natural materials will run out and who knows.
This is the accepted theory and makes logical sense. The North and South poles are dynamic, and constantly are moving so that means there is a dynamic core. If its spinning that means it has to be spinning suspended in something. To create a magnet you need iron.

You can believe in claims from geologists that graduated with a C average from low level institutions, you can believe geologists whose IQ's have been uploaded by psychologists, you can believe geologists who have the intellect of the smart kid in sixth grade ... or you can study the hundreds of independent historic documents from across the world that tell us the history of all the continents and all the major mountain ranges - including the Himalayas, the Andes, the Rockies, the TransAntarctic Mountains, etc.
Since the general public also has an intellect that's equivalent to the smart kid in sixth grade, meaning the general public's math and language comprehension are typically at middle school level and below - which is why the general public has an IQ below 110 ... they function more like children - which is why they're so gullible, easy to fool and unaware of the evidence that tells us geologists are idiots.
The geological timeline of millions and billions of years is intentional disinfo, the fake biblical timeline of 6,000 years is intentional disinfo, the historic timeline of thousands of years is intentional disinfo, the ice ages are a fiction, pangaea is a fiction, gondwana is a fiction, continental drift is a fiction ... all of that is the wild imaginings from the minds of those who don't have the intelligence to do the research - geologists are C average graduates with IQ's of 85 to 115 - according to psychologists. Geologists are programmed with lies and lunacy by the parasites that control our world and control the publishing houses that print the schoolbooks, the college textbooks, the fake science magazines, the fake news, etc. - it's all lies.
Geologists prefer to be outside, gawking at geological anomalies, and conjuring up fictions and fantasies about the history of our Earth - those who want to believe them are free to do so - those who want the truth will look beyond the insanity to find the true timeline in the historic documents.
Since we know science majors are required to take classes in Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Calculus, Computer Science, etc., and since we know most students don't get A's in those classes, we know most students get C's which means most science majors graduate with a C average which means they can almost guess their way into graduating with a degree in science - that's the level of stupidity we're dealing with and yet the public is programmed to believe those bozos are experts.
Facts are facts and those that want to bow down to the unintelligent fake science gods that are propped up as experts are free to do so - meanwhile, the true history of our Earth, the true timeline for the eruption of the supervolcanoes, the true timeline for the broken and subducted tectonic plates, the true timeline for the mountain ranges, continents and oceans are all found in the historic documents.
If you think I'm exaggerating, go look up how fast the mountains have been rising up in elevation - you can find the reports online. Some mountains are rising up over 1,600 feet every century - others have been rising up much faster - so how can the mountains be millions of years old? The mountains are not millions of years old but the well-programmed imbeciles cling to those lies without looking beyond the deception to find the truth - why? Because the vast majority of the public are satisfied with living a life of lies and lunacy - they're satisfied with being so detached from reality as to be rendered insane.

dana, liars are despicable - the video on your channel about the seafloor is a pack of lies. If you want the truth about the oceans and the ocean floor, you can find it in the historic documents going back over 600 years - this includes reports in the captain's logs from the sailing ships.
Since science majors are required to take courses in Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Calculus, Computer Science, etc. - since most students don't earn A's in those classes, since most students earn C's, we know the vast majority of science majors graduate with a C average which means they understand next to nothing about science. Those who excel in Chemistry tend to go into medicine, pharmacy and biotech while those who excel in Physics and Calculus often become Physicists, Engineers, etc.
Psychologists have uploaded the IQ's of Geologists and dozens of other fake experts, so we know that all across Canada and the U.S., the UK, Europe, Africa, Australia, Latin America, the Middle East, Russia, China, Japan and the rest of Asia, hundreds of thousands of mediocre minds graduate with their fake science degrees - many go on to their Master's and Doctorate where they continue to perform with ignorance and stupidity, then they're given a job title and paycheck which reinforces the illusion that they are experts - but since psychologists tell us their IQ's are 85 to 115, we know their intellect is equivalent to the smart kid in sixth grade - who in their right mind would trust an elementary school child to tell us the history of the world?
Since most of the general public also have IQ's below 110 and since the publishing houses that print the schoolbooks, the college textbooks, the fake science magazines and the fake news, are controlled by the parasitic billionaires that also control politicians, the economy, the military, etc., the deception is as simple as programming children to believe in a full spectrum of lies and lunacy - we see them all falling for it so we know this is exactly what's going on.
Those who want to believe our mountains, continents and oceans are millions of years old are free to do so - go ahead and believe what C average science majors have programmed you to believe, go ahead and laugh yourself silly at the fact that you were lied to - while the politicians earn millions in under the table deals while the majority of the public lives in poverty - go ahead and laugh yourself silly at the fact that lawyers cheat their clients out of justice by walking away with the bulk of personal injury profits, medical malpractice profits, proceeds from cases of " incapacitated adult ", drug court cases, family court cases, etc. Since you don't care enough about truth or justice to do the research on any of this, you remain a programmed imbecile - like the rest of the public, oblivious to the reality of the world you live in which results in you being rendered insane.
Go ahead and laugh yourself silly all you want - it's what you've been doing all your life while the billionaires siphon over $200 trillion into their control, while the military invades impoverished sovereign nations to steal their minerals, drugs, antiquities, women and children - go ahead and laugh while millions of children are slaughtered all across the world - go ahead and laugh while thousands of children disappear from foster care, laugh while thousands of children disappear from refugee camps and war zones - laugh while thousands of children disappear from camps for survivors of hurricanes, tornadoes and tsunamis, go ahead and laugh while thousands of children disappear from homeless shelters, playgrounds, schoolyards and from city sidewalks and small towns all across the world - if you cared about children, if you cared about justice, if you cared about the truth, you would have researched all this already - you would know the Geologists are idiots and that everything the public is told about the Earth is a pack of lies - you would know why millions of children have been abducted and slaughtered - but since you've convinced yourself you're the smart one - you post a comment here saying HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Then you deleted it - you think this makes you the smart one - but you're oblivious to the fact that you're poisoned, drugged, numbed and programmed with lies and lunacy across the full spectrum of politics, economics, health, justice, history, chemistry, physics, geology, glaciology, the military ... everything you think you know is a pack of lies from start to finish. Good luck to you as you laugh yourself silly with ignorance and stupidity.
