This morning pattern is called the dip and rip.
Bohen breaks down Microvision, Inc. (Nasdaq: MVIS) for this example. MVIS makes augmented reality technology, and that’s a HOT sector. It’s also a sympathy play because Microsoft recently landed a contract … and MVIS has loose ties with the giant Microsoft.
Those kinds of connections can be just enough to cause a smaller company, like MVIS, to run.
It’s also got an incredible breakout chart and a news catalyst! That's exactly the type of chart pattern you want to see.
At this point, you’ve checked every box. This is about as good as they get.
Also, watch the video for a key tip on the two best days to really hone into the market.
You’ll see MVIS was trending at 52-week highs, gapped up big in pre-market, then pulled back. Now, when you're tracking this morning pattern, you want to watch for that 9:45 confirmation of the high of day. That’s the key signal for this pattern.
MVIS gapped up as soon as the Nasdaq opened, consolidated around VWAP, then dipped into the open…

I'm a little confused. Isn't the reclaim of pre market highs at like 9:33am in this video? Isn't the chart set to 1min?
I always thought we wanted to wait until 9:45 or later with the rip part.

Question: For some reason I cannot find the answer to this question anywhere. What part of my trade is counted against my day trade limit? For instance if I have 25k in my account I’ll have a 100k day trade limit. Suppose I purchase an option for 25k and sell it for 75k. What portion of my limit is used up? Does that count as 100k since the 25k purchase and 75k sell add up to 100k? Or is it only the 25k or only the 75k? Or is 50k since that was the difference between the two? - in this example could I safely do this trade 4 times in a day without getting a margin call or only once or twice? My broker only tells me my day trade limit but doesn’t tell me what i’ve used up.
What is the best time frame on the chart to watch for the dip/rip. The 1, 5, 10 or 15 min.
