KATU hosts Portland City Council District 1 forum

- On Monday, Sept. 23, KATU News in partnership with Willamette University will be holding a forum with Portland City Council District 1 candidates.
The forum will be livestreamed on KATU.com and on our UA-cam channel, starting at 11 a.m.
There are 16 candidates running in District 1. Six of them have agreed to appear in Monday's forum.
They are Candace Avalos, Loretta Smith, Steph Routh, Terrence Hayes, Timer Ender, and Jamie Dunphy.
District 1 encompasses parts of Northeast Portland to the airport and 82nd Avenue to the city line.

District 1 finally getting its representation.
To have Public Safety the Public can not be excluded.
The City Council should prioritize the needs of working middle class families over those of homeless/mentally diseased addicts. This pertains to everything: housing, public safety, infrastructure, clean streets, etc. . And LorettaSmith!! Listen, we as a community are NOT obligated to house all these homeless. We will have a downtown full of buildings with lawless, mentally ill, impoverished addicts living in them. See the area around Bud Clark building to know what the whole of the city will be.

Too many choices
We don't have a Democratic government we have a Republic why is it such a hard reality to embrace?
A republic, based on the Latin phrase res publica ('public affair'), is a state in which political power rests with the public through their representatives. Therefore, a component of an actual Republic (specifically a Federal Republic) has democratic involvement.
So really, what we have in the United States is a Representative Democracy in a Federal form.
Loretta Smith is a nightmare.
