GS split throttle very gently between his while Longshot here goin balls out AB and idle whipping the flanker to get his kills. Kudos to the insane kills bro.
Yeah, exactly. GS is fighting roughly the same fight as usual, just stacking every little advantage he can find in his favour, while Longshot basically went haha I'm a drunk flying pancake
03:05 And this is how LongShot will be credited with inventing the most insane air combat maneuver ever... the legendary Negative Cobra. Incredible video man, one of the best I've seen!
@@MeteCanKarahasan Flankers at airshows do this, ive seen videos of what is almost like a ballet , the thing turns and pirouettes in ways which defy what your brain perceives as the limits of fixed wing aircraft. the split throttle combined with 3d vectoring on the su35 and su57 is doubtless why/how they are managing some of these mindbending moves
Your camera work is really really good. You say DCS is hard to get angles, but you make it look easy! This really is one of yours and the best DCS videos quickly showing the advanced aerodynamics on show. From engines cutting out from air flow, to flat spins in and out of all sorts of angles. Bravo
DT is usefull when You're really slow on high AOA and need fast roll rate. In a merge with higher speed and especially in horizontal turn not so much because You need a thrust and nose authority there not a roll rate. Great episode! Greetings from Polish Air Force;)
For pilots, it's instinctive to bank 90 deg in order to turn as hard as possible. But for dif thrust, you don't want to roll 90. That will point the vector of thrust downward when you want yaw. Basically, you lose the benefit of difthrust. Use your pedals with less bank to help accelerate the turn.
Dude, this is hilarious! That kill in Round 3 you were basically playing football with that underarm lateral pass! This whole video is just ridiculous, I freaking love it. Watching you wallow around like a first time pilot made my day. Your first kill was like a wobbly-kneed toddler stumbling around after church! I know you're an excellent pilot, which makes this so much more fun. Keep exploring split throttle flying, it might become the meta in DCS!
This is one of the craziest videos indeed! I wonder what would be the turn circle in a SU-30 with differential thrust. It already has thrust vectoring, so it would be interesting to watch.
The highest scoring U.S. fighter ace in WW2 (40 kills) was Richard Bong who flew the P-38 Lighting fighter. He stated that his kill count went so high because he'd mastered splitting the throttle of the Lightning's two engines, which gave him an edge in high-speed turn fights. In contrast, most P-38 pilots were happy to simply use the Lighting's high speed, zoom-n-boom advantage to get (relatively) straight-forward kills on Japanese Navy and Army fighters, as learning the split-throttle technique on the already highly complex P-38 was well beyond most pilot's capabilities or inclination to learn. Tragically, Richard Bong perished shortly prior to the end of WW2 while flying a P-80 Shooting Star whose engine failed immediately after take off, but he will go down in history as a one of the only aces who mastered split-throttle combat in the amazing P-38 fighter (also see Thomas McGuire - Bong's main kill-count competitor (38 kills) and fellow P-38 split-throttle master).
This scene is always will be the best. Brilliant Longshot, it just Brilliant, the way you just payback the missile to defeat F16, seriously this is what I call a best dogfight.
Dude! I love your enjoyment and humor during these vids even if I hate to see US planes shot down. You remind me of playing on a local network with friends and our laughter as we played. Thanks for these!
Nice, now you almost know how those display pilots can do wild stuff with Su-27/30/35 family :) If you add thrust vectoring for Su-35, good luck to any enemy during dogfight.
If Longbow can consistently slap an F-16 out of the sky in an SU-27, then I'd hate to imagine how lethal he'd be in a *thrust vectoring* aircraft like the SU-30 or SU-35...
@@Ghoster311 this is true, its not a hornet...but even in a rate fight on the deck, two circle, flanker can still hit that special aoa limiter, though the diff thrust might be less useful AOA lets you aim at him anytime, good post stall nose pointing control with no limit on AOA is unstoppable
I knew you would be good at this. Man, you really need to get a LOT of practice with it so you can totally catch people off guard. GS is gonna love it.
That "flying" is f'n nuts! Outside camera views make it look like you set your jet flailing through the sky and you launch when the nose happens to be pointed closely enough at the other guy.
When you used the differential thrust(when you left controlled flight 😉)to avoid that gun shot...it must've looked like you used magic, from his point ofview. Sometimes it's better to be lucky, than good. Lol, Great vid LS!
God gave you two throttles for a reason. Which something about the flanker I noticed landing it on a carrier abusing it's high aspect is... The engine are not in sync in the slightest like going from idle to full after burner one engine will always lag behind like a full second... So yeah you really masted the Flanker really impressive long shot!
The one downside to differential thrust maneuvers is you end up dumping a lot of speed in the process. I wouldn't try it in a one v two fight. Another bandit could just come in a pick you off. I think Peregrine was relying on his gun too much whereas you were using your Archers to their fullest extent.
Put meteor missiles on the wingtips. Use the missiles as wingtip rocket engines (without detaching them from the wing tips) to intermittently to create differential thrust.
So thrust vectoring without having thrust vectoring. May I recommend you use override stick deflection first half of a turn THEN go into direct control (cobra)? You probably know it but using override stick gives you more rudder power and it also works when in direct control mode. Gives you very good roll control at 90kts.
This is a wonderful example of how the information available to public differs from the information available to the pilots. this "5th gen fighter" capability is extremely high risk high reward for planes not designed around the abilities. you can see the plane lose its energy after every maneuver and it takes real skill to correct before it becomes a fatal error. The Raptor is designed for things like this in mind, it's evident in gameplay that it maintains its control and energy far better. this is an old dog with neat tricks but the F14 can pull similar moves. The Raptor(Su57) pilots were brought up with this being standard, they're undeniably hiding the newest neatest tricks that the plane and/or pilot "shouldn't" be capable of
1:05 **Flies right onto bandit's nose - couldn't do it better if you tried to do it on purpose** "Split throttles helped me dodge his nose lulz." Unreal.
I've always wondered whether the inverted cobra would have much use (considering the Flanker hates being inverted at low airspeed, flames out a lot). I guess this video proves it has its merits, in specific scenarios.
Just straight flip it over from 180deg off let alone nose straight in the air, slow as the speed of smell, and yet get off a fox 2, lay on his stomach flat in the air and float away like a boss!! Well played mr longshot 🫡
This is how wars should be fought in the future, virtually! With the same equipment, tools, tactics, planes and a 1:1 copy of earth. A country is challenged. A wager is then agreed upon and the rules of engagment are settled. I know this would never work in practice, but it would save that countless lives. An 18 year old kid shouldn't be to shot.
