I was in a Catholic church in The Hague, (Scheveningen) in 1981 when I heard the choir singing a familiar tune. I then realized it was "Anak" in Dutch. I felt proud that this beautiful song with even more beautiful lyrics resonated in Europe. I was alone and could not tell anyone that the song was from my country. I will be visiting The Hague again within 2 months to celebrate a postponed 40th year reunion. Thank you for this video. It gave me the idea to visit the Salvatore brothers in that church which was beside the place where I once stayed as a student.

Thanks for uploading. I remember the song from it was a hit at the end of the 70's. I love this version and although I don't speak Filipino, I still like that version better. You feel all the feeling behind the lyrics from the orginal by Freddie Aguilar and it goes right to your heart. Even without knowing the meaning....

Anak means in Indonesian language also "child" .me, by birth an Indonesian and living till now in The Netherlands, hearing this song in the 70's. Though never knew the message of the song it's touched me in that time. A melancholic song and gladly never happen with my own children!
