To be fair, any combine can be set for no loss. It just depends on how dirty of a sample you want. The comparison for loss is only useful if you also compare the grain quality and foreign material in a sample. I like what you put together, but in the future I'd say you should consider the sample as that will truly tell how each of the machines are performing relative to their loss.

Exactly right. Any farmer worth his salt immediately wanted to look in that grain tank for a sample. It's always a balancing act of what's coming out the back end vs what's going in the bin

Well that’s why there comparing all three combines in the same field so it’s a fair comparing ;it looks like the John Deere has the best engineering. John Deere always has more money in there engineering none of the other brands like Claas and Fendt don’t even make their own engines . The John Deere 18 liter engine is engineered to last 20 thousand hours and no brand is going to beat John Deere !

In Western Canada alot of JD farms have switched to Claas combines for far less grain loss in small grain crops and canola.
The X9 as well is having alot of reliability issues. Members of the family fix the X9 professionally.
40,000 acre farm that we combined right beside and the service trucks are out steady married to the X9's
The Claas is much cheaper on fuel and extremely durable in tough conditions when the others have to shut down for the night.
Obviously the X9 was developed for corn not small grains. Capacity was high but grain losses were super high in our area even with a crew of JD people out setting and tweaking the demos.

Funny, I always see the Claas service trucks out at their combines in the morning.

So many people are biased in favor of the brand they own and use. Brand loyalty is quite strong. Takes a lot to change anybody’s mind. Also, so much depends on the dealer service and support which obviously is very important regardless of the color of the equipment. Cool video, but….. it’s one thing to throw a sample pan down and say- “ so this is the loss from combine X”… but how clean is the tank sample? Adjust sieves, fan speed, etc to see if you can lessen the amount it throws over? That’s what good operators would do. How low can you get your losses and still get a clean sample? I don’t know any operators who just drive through the whole crop without adjusting, and “oh well, what it loses it loses, but I’m doing 5.5mph!” Not a real accurate demo in my mind.

I'm not impressed with German engineering. I like their tools. But, if you're talking cars or at equipment... It's almost always over-complicated.

If the john deere combines could compete with the Claas and new holland they wouldnt be outsold 4 to 1 in most of europe. My brother has gone to america on a harvest tour and the x9 spends more time being fixed than working!

Fendt operator: Look I’m doing 35 mph pulling a full forage box.
Fendt operator as he pulls a hill:
Look. There goes an Case IH and a Deere passing me.

All I have to say is he said that every combine there had Company Representatives there and pans were all done the same way and they said they done serval samples for each combine and they were adjusting each machine if you listened to the operator
