    Two things i noticed. First the testing frequency is around 500 hz which translates to 30000 rpm not 3000 rpm and this is evident by listening to the tone of the spark generated by the coil and by looking at the current waveform and calculating its frequency . Second it seems that you have a shorted secondary and it's evident by the vertical rise of the coil current. I appreciate you commenting on both.

      actually the coil fires once every 2 rotations (because it's a 4 stroke engine) so 500hz translates to 60000 rotations per minute (assuming there is no multi spark)

    Thank you very much for posting that mercedes coil pinout!
    I was searching for it on the internet and could not find it.
    And there is no way to deduce it by testing for resistance between pins.

    What is the acceptable ohm resistance between terminals 1 and 2 (12 Volt Power and 2-Ground). My Mercedes Delphi AMG ignition coils are all over the map ranging from 31 K Ohms to 15 Mega Ohms?

    Thank you. Good job. I have two questions. 1. The current ramp in this video has a step in beginning of the ramp, was this coil, you used, shorted internally? 2. What level of DC voltage is used on the trigger, 5 VDC?

      Wow, you ask good questions. Ok, question 1: Lots of these coils are aftermarket and lower quality. Through trial and error, we found that after testing more than 48 different coils, used and new, same type, that the lower quality coils did not respond the same. So, we expanded the coil dwell to accommodate the cheap coils. And Question 2 is the same, we also made the trigger adaptive so the unit senses the pulse. It keeps raising the trigger voltage if it doesn't see a spark untill it gets to a maximum of 9 volts, so from 4.5 to 9 volts. That's why all my tools ARE NOT THE SAME. Besides the connector being different, the circuit (Toyota, Nissan, BMW, etc) the circuitry is also made for each make coil and OEM or aftermarket coils.       Another point: the driver pulse width is overdriven a tiny bit, that's why you see the slight vertical line that looks like a small short. It's just we found the trade-off point between OEM original and aftermarket setting.

      So, it's the same. Now, ECU coding is something else. Some ECUs have multiple firmwares in memory; so you code or tell the ECU which firmware to use.

      Then further still, there's configuring, which is to set different parameters in memory, like VIN, or Antitheft matching.
