I live in McDowell County, Marion NC. Getting to live in these majestic yet unforgiving mountains has its shall I say it's deep dark caves of death. I was born in Cocke County Tennessee and moved to McDowell around age 12. Being right beside each other, you would think the mountains would be just alike in many ways. But that's far from the truth. Tennessee has a lot of under ground water that you could walk right into it and be gone if no one is with you to see what happened. You could still lose your life if not got to fast enough. The leaves off the trees over the years fall and cover the top of the water. And if you don't know the area or what to look for, don't be out just taking a night walk in the woods.
All the feral people it's just not safe anymore. And yes there are real blood in there veins, air in there lungs feral people who will eat you for food. Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia are infested with feral people. A few others aren't as bad.

Gee thanks Red Owl I was just photographing waterfalls in the Berkshire’s along the Appellation trail in Massachusetts. And all I was worried about was the cougar, and bear I saw. The tracks of coyotes around scattered fur on the forest floor . Like sharks sometimes in your fear you think Wow how beautiful! The you realize you have entered the food chain on the low end. And you need to take care. And be ready.
