It is amazing what male seiyuu can do!! 😮 Who would have thought they'd go from voicing anime characters to being authors or even fashion designers?
What cool stuff does your favorite male seiyuu do?
Would love to hear from you!

Only started catching up with podcasts today, so I'll probably started commenting in other episodes as well.
Here's a little additional info, yes, seiyuu is a gender neutral term but Japanese media does use gender pronouns to separate the male and female voice actor category, especially when it comes to ranking stuffs. So, 女性声優 josei seiyuu for voice actress, 男性声優 dansei seiyuu for voice actor.
Current gen voice actors are what I called the jack-of-all-trades in the entertainment industry. The range of works they are doing keeps getting wider and wider these days.

Thanks for the comment @chrizpo25! Looking forward to your comments!
Yes, forgot to mention that Japanese media also makes the distinction because of the word being gender neutral!
I feel like them being Jack-of-all-trades takes the focus from doing "classic" seiyuu work - narration and dubbing. It seems that, nowadays, new gen voice actors are more like "talento" than just "seiyuu".

@@thtfhq I agree, it's a blurry line between "idol" and "talento"
Many veteran voice actors are kinda "bitter" at this fact too, because nowadays, instead of just "voice", even looks are an important aspect too, to be considered hired for a role which is just sad imo.
I started liking and being aware of seiyuu because of their acting and voice, the face is just an added bonus.

@@chrizpo25 Really blurry, which is worrying.
My gateway to seiyuu was really through voice only. At that time I didn't even know who those voices that I loved belonged to. I just knew that I loved those voices.
That is the magic of voice acting. Now, it is not there anymore. People instantly google the voice actor if they like the voice to know if they look "handsome" or not before supporting them... Just... WHY? They are voice actors, not idols.
It is sad that it's all about the looks and you see awesome voice acting talents being "shelved" in favor of those with good looks.
It is like you said, the looks are an added bonus, those shouldn't be a deciding factor for when a seiyuu goes to audition for a role.
You also start seeing those with only "good looks" to their name trying to have a career in voice acting, further diluting the quality in the industry.
And I feel for those veterans for not being considered as much for roles in anime anymore.. If not for narration and dubbing foreign movies many legends would no longer be in the industry.
