MA2 Startup Macros - How and Why

- Startup macros are useful for initializing or resetting parts of your showfile every time you load it. Could be as simple as a login page, or it could be as complex as programming your entire show every time you start. I'll show you how I use a startup macro in my show and give you some ideas for how to integrate it with yours.

Is it possible for you to make a video about how you lay out your faders, buttons, executors and touchscreens? Like which faders do you use for dimming or effects or fadetime. Or how you lay out your "play" view in terms of where you but which effects.
And another question that I have is how can i put my fadetime on a fader. Like for a position- oder colorfade so that i can decide wether i want it to chance with a like 5 sec fade or immediatly.

Under "Trig" Right Click on that section of the cue select Time, Follow, Timecode, BPM, Sound And Go (Go is The Default)

Could you do a video on Tips for Busking? I'm limited to small consoles like the Martin M-Touch or ETC Express 125 so I have a bit of limitations, but when running a show what are some good tips for busking and cues?
Hi Christian, How would you use the freeze button for a movement effect?
Quick noob question here: if I wanted to practice when I pressed certain cues to the beat of the music (or just practice creating concert shows in general), could I connect playlists/music to the software on a computer? If yes does the music need to be downloaded or can I stream from Spotify/UA-cam?

Hey Christian, i guess this is not related to this video but what was the name of the video where you explain your effect generator ( You know that stuff where you can choose blocks etc via a sequence)? For some reason i can't find it anymore :/.

Yeah i have the same problem. you can do so many things in MA2 but I don't know how to make it compact but still very usable to get the best out of it

whats the difference between the ma2 console software and the ma2 pc ?
Think of MA2 OnPC software as a emulation of the console. All screens, buttons, etc... are visible on the PC, as if you were at a console(without the physical buttons of course). Essentially there is no difference besides screen placement, as one doesn't typically have 3 touch screens, plus a little Command screen. That's the long answer; Short answer, nothing! The onPC Software gives you the console for Pre-Programming/Pre-viz without having to rent or even buy a console for those things. Hope that answers your question.

You know how to make a macro that will take a group selection for multiple effects at once. I really want to speed up my pre programming at shows and after creating a layout view I've been taking selection one at a time

I would like to have 4 Macros and they should Change the Value of a Head in the 4 directions (down Macro = Tilt -5 , left Macro = Pan +5 , right Macro = Pan -5, up Macro = Tilt +5)

How did you become a lighting tech? What education do you have? What was your first job and so on?
I've got a question. I have relays controlled from my MA. If I switch showfiles, there's always a fear the new file won't have the relays turned on. Can a start up macro help this?
Sure. If the fixture numbers are the same between showfiles, you could create a macro that sets those fixtures to 100 and parks them.
I was following along, typed "login", and then saved the showfile. I spent half an hour trying to figure out the password (it's user "administration" and password "admin" for those of you getting started).

Hello. I know it's not related to macros but can u please tell me how to sequence a blackout? My lights run ton of shit and strobes but i want a 2 sec blackout before the drop, but no matter what i do i can't get dimmers and strobes to turn off :/
Just make a playback master or group master

Is there any way to learn the complete basics of MA for relatively cheap?
The software is free and the manual is really comprehensive. Just gotta get into and teach yourself

Right clicking is the same as the edit key or long pressing on the screen.
