Pretty impressive! Seems like you have things more dialed in than people with big expensive builds.

HOW did I miss this until now?! Our cars are almost twins! I had created a video in 2019 to introduce my plan to try a camper build in my GTI, starting with a "rear seat delete" that features flip-up doors. However, I was distracted in 2020 (weren't we ALL?) and went a different direction. Still, much of what I've done to my car is overland-inspired, including my 1280-Wh lithium battery, the fridge, and cargo options. As a result, I coined the term "microlander" with plan to do some camping at some point. I never did camp IN my car, BUT I could easily slap-on a rear "car tent" at the hatch and use the extra utility of my "micro utility vehicle." I need to update my UA-cam content, especially in light of my recent cargo modifications. My IG has the most recent photos, if you're interested. I hope to see you share more content in the future. Take Care! -Scott

@@saidassimkus1133 - I think the only way it will work is if you remove the front seat and put some sort of raised surface on the front floor. Then you'll have to contend with an airbag light. Good Luck!

How did I end up with this? I have a Golf R and was thinking of selling to get a CRV to do stuff like this. Is this a sign? Nice build.

Wow, I love what you did here! Right now, I'm rolling with a no-build MK7 VW GTI car camper conversion. I hope you do follow up with those build videos. A retrospective would also be interesting. What would you do differently, now that you've had this build for a while? You've inspired to do something similar!

Well done. Blessed algo. How tall are you? I’ve tried sleeping in my gti, it was… unpleasant. Only way I could do it is if I took the front passenger seat out.

I don't know if the mk7 is much different in rear length to Mk6, but I sleep in my Mk6 with ease and I'm 6'. I'm in the UK, so righthand drive with bed on right, more adjustment on the drivers seat than passenger in my poverty spec Golf.

Cool video Rui! what kind of gas mileage you get on this?

VW GOLF is a pretty fuel efficient car, despite having 220HP on a 2.0 turbo diesel engine. It's also one of the most feature packed and modern looking cars you can get, especially the new Golf 8 with full interior/exterior max trim adds. I drive pretty dynamic, I don't go crazy but I don't cheap out on pressing that gas peddle either and I'm getting around 6.8L/100km while city driving and when driving mostly on fast roadways and highways, I can get it down to as low as 5.1L/100km. I'm pretty sure someone who drives more fuel efficiently than me has even better fuel economy. However, if you like to press that gas peddle a lot, then your fuel economy can go up to 8-9L per 100km while city driving... All in all, it's a pretty amazing car and has pretty stylish interior design, on par with Audi, Mercedes and BMW. Also, GOLF is supposed to be a compact hatchback of some sort but the newer models are actually huge, despite looking quite small. Gold 7 and 8 are almost 4,300mm in length and the size of the interior is roomier than that of a BMW 3 series, despite the Golf having almost 300mm shorter exterior length. Golf is a pretty amazing car oh and also to top it all off, they are also dirt cheap to maintain and repair.

With the EQT tune, Highway drives I can get to 32 MPG. City driving around 24 MPG. And when I want to go for a little spirited drives, down to 18 MPG.
