The TF2 Ghost Room isn't exactly an easter egg, it's more of an engine work around. The ghost is meant to roam around inside buildings on koth_harvest_event, but it's not always in there. In order to save processing power by spawning and despawning the ghost over and over again it's instead teleported to the ghost room, waiting to be used. Why Valve didn't do this with other entities is anyone's guess, (I'm looking at you Monoculus).
Actually, as a Hammer mapper, I can explain why the Zepheniah Ghost needs a custom box. See, the Ghost itself isn't an entity/NPC, unlike Monoculus/the HHH/Merasmus. It, in fact, is a prop_dynamic (An animated, moving prop) connected to a func_tracktrain (A brush entity that moves around a track) and a trigger_stun (A trigger that stuns you, duh). func_tracktrains CANNOT dissapear, instead needing to be transported to another location. Since the Ghost NEEDS to dissapear for it's gameplay function to work, it's instead teleported to its custom room. The easter egg isn't the room itself, but it being decorated instead of just being noclip brushes (Non-rendered textures). Although it fits well with the Ghost's lore. Thank you for fixing the audio - and so quickly too. The entire thing is a little bit quiet compared to most other videos though - I don’t think this video needs another fix, but for next time it might help to increase the gain overall by a little bit. What I do when I’m unsure about audio is upload a 2 or 3 minute segment of video unlisted and send it to a few friends to ask them how it sounds on their devices. It’s hard to tell if the audio is good if you only rely on one set of speakers. I have absolutely nothing to critique about the actual content of the video - it’s really good haha
It wasn’t actually John Romero’s voice in Doom II, it was people in the office who decided to secretly make him the final boss as a prank. He thought it was funny, so he left it in the game
11:23 heard of this before, the "ghost" is actually just a second instance of the player model or is a default model, which is used to mark the position of that "shot from the ghost pov". The actual model is supposed to be out of bounds or invisible, but it wasn't hidden properly for a split second.
Given that this is such a long video I like the fact that there are two narrators, the switch between voices is very welcome as it breaks up the video somewhat and makes it retain its quality of interest.
30:50 The growling sounds in the TimeSplitters 2 game over screen is actually just dialogue from the cutscene for the Aztec Ruins mission severely slowed down. It's been known for many years, actually. But there's something you haven't covered in this entry. In the very end of the Game Over theme, there is the voice of a woman saying "Is-is that too loud?" with an echo effect.
In Time Splitters 2, the "Growls" in the game over screen are the out takes from the Cut scene for the Level "Aztec Ruins". You just need to speed it up alot. Also, if you wait to long, you can hear a woman say "Is that too loud?"
If the mean Hitman Contracts ghost scared you, you can totally show him a lesson by getting behind him in the bathroom and strangling him with the piano wire. That poor dude can be killed literally twice! LMAO
If I recall correctly, the SH4 peep check is supposed to be the game judging you for spying on Eileen. Spying on her never gives you anything or shows you anything spicy so it's completely on you if you keep doing it and the game will judge you on it. The giant Eileen head that watches your every move is supposed to serve the same purpose.
If you wait long enough on TimeSplitters 2’s mission failed menu, you’ll hear an audio engineer ask “Is that too loud?” It’s an oversight, but I thought it was funng
A couple of mess ups while you were talking, but I loved the video! Very nostalgic since I would binge watch scary Easter egg videos all the time when I was younger, and even now I watch Easter egg videos. I’m also proud of my knowledge as I’ve know quite a lot of these.
I'm surprised you didn't mention that the pokemon elevator ghost girl can actually be found somewhere else. At least I'm pretty sure I remember coming across her in a corner of a room in the hotel I think, and if you talk to her she says something like "shh, I'm listening for the elevator." But great video! I love spooky easter eggs especially so this is great
Not trying to sound rude, but legitimately there are courses you can take to improve your diction. My brother and a friend of mine both also had similar issues with rushing/enunciation words like you do and they helped a lot.
The man-bat jumpscare in arkham knight isn’t an Easter egg, you’ll come across him randomly and you literally need the event to trigger in order to complete a quest
@@simondigruber2111 that makes no canonical sense, once you complete the the side quest he gets put in the gcpd lockup, it’d be impossible for it to happen.
The Gman sightings also are in Half life 1, for example, in “We’ve Got Hostiles” he can be seen on the catwalk leading to your first encounter with a military grunt. Also I personally think that the Gman sightings aren’t scary at all. After all he’s just keeping tabs on Gordon. I think a good replacement for this would be the radio playing that creepy music.
The RDR2 UFO reference is related to the Heaven's Gate mass suicide. HG members believed the Halle-Bopp comet had a spaceship that would carry them away.
this has got to be one of my favorite videos of all time. it brings back so much nostalgia for me of my early days on youtube. thank you for putting this video together
Cool video, couple nitpicks/engagement: -GameBoy is not low-poly. There are no polygons. GameBoy is 2D only. It is, however, very low-resolution. -Fatal Frame handprints are not to remind you to pause. I paused and they still appeared. Only ever played the first one though. -Mass offing to get picked up by aliens in RDR2 is less generically cultish, and more specifically the alternate universe where Heaven's Gate was right. They just got a lot of publicity specifically because they did that. The other famous self-destroying cult were afraid US troops were going to forcably repatriate them (to way over-simplify). If you're curious, the Glenn Washington podcast on Heaven's Gate is really good. -Not strictly an error since you can't be expected to include every spooky thing in every game, but how could you miss The Freezer from Saints Row 2? Look into it sometime, it's the most creeptpasta thing you'll ever hear but it's 100% real.
@@wyvernPtbr I think they mean in the single player, where you can find the KKK at various points in the game, typically with a burning cross to signify their appearance.
I really like the topic of this, I got reminded of a lot of stuff I forgot like the Jam Sessions voice and the last layer is super interesting. The timesplitters 2 easter egg has actually been proved to be slowed down recordings of auditions for Captain Ash or someone like that. Been playing the game recently. Also if you wait long enough you'll hear a woman say "is that too loud" as it echoes a few times and then goes silent.

The Kappa is actually a recurring character in the Harvest Moon games. Regardless of the origin myth, the Kappa in previous titles was actually a benign entity. It’s definitely creepy if you don’t have context, but it’s just a fun cameo if you’ve played previous games

ua-cam.com/video/B6Dg1mwbh54/v-deo.html
you are apparently correct
It was because there was a rumor that play it on 1987 would unlock an alternative ending
I agree
I still think its funny that you can strangle the ghost in hitman
The carnevil one is fcked up like why did they made an edit with a real life killer holding a bloody bag with a head like wtf
Yeah, even though the picture is never used in game, its kinda fucked up that the devs included it in the games code multiple times.
“Psycho mantis is the main antagonist of the first game”
Liquid: am I a joke to you?
The Condemned: Criminal Origins one is my favorite. I still have the game and I might play it again soon
fuck yeah, sly cooper OST _and_ jumpscare warnings? this youtuber is a godsend
love my man Sly
36:10 imagine you are a kid while its 4 am and you left your xbox running and wake up to this.
I’m surprised the gravemind speech from Halo 2 wasn’t on the iceberg.
the phantom program from battlefield somehow didnt make it either
Scary Easter eggs are my favorite thanks for making a iceberg just for scary Easter eggs!
16:41 it’s actually not Elizabeth in the corpse texture, it’s just a random person. It’s more accurately an allusion to the River Styx.
54:38 It's most likely a referce to Polish legend about a tyrant king who, for his crimes, was eaten alive by mice in a tower
If the mean Hitman Contracts ghost scared you, you can totally show him a lesson by getting behind him in the bathroom and strangling him with the piano wire.
That poor dude can be killed literally twice! LMAO
11:30 Help Valley Sky Trees, theres an interview where one of the developers is asked what they were. The game dev laughed and said no comment
Damn, that PS1 audio thing actually set me on edge, probably because it's the same notes but all wrong
For the Stanley Parable easter egg, I think it's probably just Stanley from another reset
Yes, he is.
54:07 towerful of mice is a reference to a polish legend called king popiel. In short: he wasn't a nice king and he got killed in the tower by mice
for the Timesplitters 2 Easter egg. The audio is meant to be voice clips of the character Captain Ash from the intro cutscene of the Aztec Ruins Level
I'm surprised you didn't mention that the pokemon elevator ghost girl can actually be found somewhere else. At least I'm pretty sure I remember coming across her in a corner of a room in the hotel I think, and if you talk to her she says something like "shh, I'm listening for the elevator."
But great video! I love spooky easter eggs especially so this is great
You missed a voice of a mother and her baby crying in a bulding in battlefield 1
Gamers got spooked by the GTA 5 Ghost, True Gamers shat themselves by the BO2 Mob of the Dead Jumpscare
What if you were scared about both?
personally, I found it funny because it's just Russman, now Brutas made me shat myself
Legendary gamers shat themselfs after hearing the HL2 zombie sounds
god-like gamers got nightmares from the super mario 64's piano
god-gamers got scared by madness combat
“It’s almost scary how this is going on in the background.”

Infinity killer: I killed 8 people
GTA protagonist and online player: hold my beer
Not trying to sound rude, but legitimately there are courses you can take to improve your diction. My brother and a friend of mine both also had similar issues with rushing/enunciation words like you do and they helped a lot.
This is exactly the kind of video I was hoping someone would make, cheers!
The Black and White 2 whispers scared little me so hard. I told my father of it, and he didn't believe me lol
A well done video and especially well done compared to many of these iceberg type videos. Of course I’m gonna watch it again.
It was great once again, and the improved audio just made it all that bit better
@@bransbites6675 Thank you so much for your continued support and praise!
the tf2 ghost room isn't really an easter egg, it's just where the ghost goes when it's not moving around the map
Thats fair, not all of these are true easter eggs I guess, but we thought it was a cool detail none the less.
42:29
Me: Oh boy here come the Among Us jokes
Trust me, they've been very frequent haha
@@SpinsROCK I knew it lol
The man-bat jumpscare in arkham knight isn’t an Easter egg, you’ll come across him randomly and you literally need the event to trigger in order to complete a quest
Yes but if you complete the quest and roam around the city on halloween then his jumpscare triggers again
@@simondigruber2111 that makes no canonical sense, once you complete the the side quest he gets put in the gcpd lockup, it’d be impossible for it to happen.
@@smokebomb8361 ikr I think it's kinda stuid to be like: "Oh well, the serum didn't work anyways. Here, have a reused jumpscare!"
I just want to say, I love how there are no cuts lol, hearing line flubs make me giggle lol.
Tbh im kind of proud of myself that I recognized most of them, except for any of the ones in the very bottom.
Same
19:38 bruh watch through the video at least once when you *think* you're done editing it, lol.
4:27
Made me laugh
The Gman sightings also are in Half life 1, for example, in “We’ve Got Hostiles” he can be seen on the catwalk leading to your first encounter with a military grunt. Also I personally think that the Gman sightings aren’t scary at all. After all he’s just keeping tabs on Gordon. I think a good replacement for this would be the radio playing that creepy music.
Bruh I could barely hear the timesplitter growls over the lavender town theme
i feel like everyone should stop including kanye quest, since the entire game (like she says) is just an abandoned arg
great vid
So much better dude!!! Thanks for fixing it
Thank you for your continued support!
This was such a huge nostalgia trip lol, all those memories of TatstopsVideos came flooding back
The RDR2 UFO reference is related to the Heaven's Gate mass suicide. HG members believed the Halle-Bopp comet had a spaceship that would carry them away.
Great video guys! Lots of these I didn't know about. I do suggest increasing the volume of the video though, as it's pretty quiet on speakers.
this has got to be one of my favorite videos of all time. it brings back so much nostalgia for me of my early days on youtube. thank you for putting this video together
I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one who was traumatized by the Scooby Doo jumpscare
Cool video, couple nitpicks/engagement:
-GameBoy is not low-poly.
I remember finding a kkk clan meeting in red dead 2
This is the time to use the report button and a lot of explosions
@@wyvernPtbr I think they mean in the single player, where you can find the KKK at various points in the game, typically with a burning cross to signify their appearance.
@@Spewa-em8cm just explosives then lol
@@wyvernPtbr Lol yeah, they aren't very threatening and they're portrayed as bumbling idiots, very easy kills.
@@Spewa-em8cm Your good karma also increases after you kill them with no witnesses
Thought that was a nice touch
I really like the topic of this, I got reminded of a lot of stuff I forgot like the Jam Sessions voice and the last layer is super interesting. But I have to admit that the super quiet and still voicing, which I could probably handle by itself, is made borderline unwatchable when an ad that's 10x louder plays every few minutes.
ay man if ur making more of these and need an audio editor to just remove the lines where u mess up and generally clean the audio up a bit id be happy to. idk where to actually reach out to you, but i'd love to do that, as i got some experience doing that for audiobooks. figured u miss 100% of the shots u dont take
really love the video tho, definitely would love to see more from you!
The timesplitters 2 easter egg has actually been proved to be slowed down recordings of auditions for Captain Ash or someone like that. Been playing the game recently. Also if you wait long enough you'll hear a woman say "is that too loud" as it echoes a few times and then goes silent.
Who else agrees: The longer the iceberg, the better.
25:10 I think it’s a reference to the one episode of the walking dead where they were trying to get a zombie out of the well
The original video was something I was interested in after first seeing it pop up in my recommended recently, although I didn't watch it for super long due to barely being able to hear either of you.
With this upload, I can already hear you guys much better, time to watch it!
The Kappa is actually a recurring character in the Harvest Moon games. Regardless of the origin myth, the Kappa in previous titles was actually a benign entity. It’s definitely creepy if you don’t have context, but it’s just a fun cameo if you’ve played previous games
The UFO easter egg in Red Dead sounds like a reference to the real life Heaven's Gate cult, which had the same beliefs.
Fun fact: the hall of tortured souls was used to balloon file size. At the time, some people thought that the bigger the file size, the better the program.
I love the fact everyone seems to overlook that a the same people developing excel basically developed a 3d game
I love that each time they fuck up they sigh then start again instead of cutting it. Hahaha
In OMORI if you look at the mirror there times you can see Omori and his friend slowly becoming distorted almost unrecognizable
that's a reference to low-chance events like Yume Nikki's Uboa or Takofuusen.
I believe OMORI in fact contains some very not-so-subtle nods to Yume Nikki as well, especially Blackspace
@@SpringySpring04 not only that, there's an extremely obscure reference to undertale with the hidden WTF values in omori being a reference to undertale's FUN values
@@potatodude3947 I know about that as well. although, despite the fact that the idea was inspired by Undertale (of all games (or more specifically fandoms)), OMORI is still a lot more interesting than UT
Don’t forget that when you open the door after mari knocks on it and go to the bathroom to look at the mirror, you can see her behind you with pitch black eyes, mouth wide open, silently staring at you
