I love and have been greatly edified by both ministries, redeeming productivity and living waters. Would like to see them have you on their podcast to talk about true Christian productivity.

Reagan, any chance you could get on the Living Waters podcast? You'd be an excellent guest.

Great books to read on habits and productivity from a Biblical viewpoint are: Heart & Habits: How We Change for Good by Greg Gifford (Author) and Do More Better: A Practical Guide to Productivity by Tim Challies (Author)

Really appreciated your take on the subject. As Christ-followers, we really have to be discerning. The enemy is busy creating facsimiles which will fool even the elect. (distractions like Christian TED Talks). Please do more like this. BTW, nice background!

Such an interesting topic! A lot of the self-help books I've read definitely lean into philosophies or teachings that are unbiblical. And I'd now consider a lot of them to be "New Thought" rather than "New Age." Melissa Dougherty talks a lot about these topics on her channel and even wrote a whole book (out in Jan '25) about "New Thought" creeping into the church.

Well done. Not my will, but your will be done, is not lack of faith, but one of honesty and surrender by acknowledging God is far more seeing than we are and He is a good Father. Having that open hand that you talk about.

My concern with believers is when we don’t use discernment and wisdom in our assessments. There is this binary thinking that is going on in the conversation with Ray Comfort and the group. I think that it is important that they qualify their statements. If a person is going to these books for “salvation” then that is a problem. If these books are propagating ideas that there is salvation in their books then that is a problem. To be clear, I don’t agree with everything espoused in these books. However, Neither do I think that there is no value to be gained from these books. I don’t think that these books are claiming to offer salvation either directly or indirectly. My issue is the blank statement, pronouncing of judgment by Christians on all self help. I don’t think that the entire genre is bad and has nothing to offer. I think that there is a lot of bad in the industry that people should avoid. The entire industry is not bad. The industry is in place because there is a missing in the marketplace of people wanting to know how do I live life well? How do I grow and mature as an adult? I believe that the Church, generally speaking, has done a poor job of offering tools, aids, books and assistance for people struggling in this area. As such, people go to “the world” to find answers.
