- The Nash Metropolitan is a car that was sold, initially, only in the United States and Canada, from 1954--1962.
It conforms to two classes of vehicle: economy car[4] and subcompact car. In today's terminology the Metropolitan is a "subcompact", but this category had not yet come into use when the car was made. At that time, it was variously categorized, for example as a "small automobile" as well as an "economy car".
The Metropolitan was also sold as a Hudson when Nash and Hudson merged in 1954 to form the American Motors Corporation (AMC), and later as a standalone marque during the Rambler years, as well as in the United Kingdom and other markets.

I owned one of these in the late 1960s. It was a really fun little car.
I was born in 1962. Our neighbor had one when I was a little kid. Loved that car.
I had one of these, a coral colored 1954 convertible. It was a fun car, but the floor was rusted out, it burned oil at a fierce rate, and every so often you had to get under it to disentangle the shift linkeage. Sold it for $75. Would have gotten a bit more now, I guess.
i have two of these here in England UK
That is a fine craft....what more could one ask for?
Actually, I made the Beta SP from Conde's original and then returned it to him. Would love to see the others as well.
This must have been from a BetaSP copy that John Conde (formerly with Nash/AMC) sold during his retirement years. I bought the acutal 16mm film print from him. But did you know that there are actually 2 more black and white films like this one (but with different content on them?). One of them is in a collector's hands. The third one has simply disappeared.
My friend had one he took it to the drag strip took ham 30 seconds go through a quarter mile
I own a 1960 black and white convertible. Everyone wants to touch it.
GREAT!!
How could anyone drive that car? No GPS. No Backup camera. No anti-lock brakes. No airbags. No DVD player for the rear passengers. [SARCASM!]
No audio? :-(
Sorry. Some of these corporate newsreels were made without sound. I do include the sound whenever it's there.
I was with them till they pulling those farm wagons. I hear they were good little cars tho.
There are two things about them I just can't love. One is the front fender openings, it would have been so much more attractive if opened up. The other is the spare on the rear, that's just ugly.
Give me a break!!!
The car was meant to putt putt around the city doing errends and to go from home to the train station.
The three trailers being towed behind it is unrealistic, who tows empty trailers? Three fully loaded radio flyers being towed is more realistic, Maybe a home built teardrop trailer.
A 28% on gravel dirt grade. Not every day by a long shot, would be more impressed with a shot of the car going 'down' the same road.
The flag should have had the disclaimer (Professional driver, no not attempt), don't get me wrong I love my little car but it was never meant to be an autocross car. Want handling with an expendable car get a 2011 mini cooper.
A met is meant for short hops, be looked at and to sip gas.
Ever wonder why they all have around 50K on their mileage when they come up for sale? That is about what you get out of them if abused.
