I am Brazilian and in 2017 I visited Bulgaria and my impression is that the infrastructure is bad, low wages, the buldings are in bad condition but some things improved because many Young people left to work abroad after they joined the EU. In general, bulgarians are nice, welcoming people who love to party, drink and eat pork and rakia!

@@suprensa4393 Brazil is an emerging and big economy, among the 10 biggest and dinamic economies in the world. It is the second main economy in America (the continent) after the USA. It has huge industries and manufactories, big prodution of foods and goods which are exported and self suficient to provide for it's own demand. As an developing country, obviously it also has problems on political and social scales, however, it has got everything to be a superpower in the future provided if politicians act on it's behave.

My parents left in 1987. I remember going to visit between 1994-1998, it was truly depressing. I feel so lucky that we didn't experience this first hand. Especially the elder relatives were living completely desperately, pensions didn't even cover food for a day. Imagine having old relatives be grateful to a small kid buying some milk, sausages and cheese with their pocket money...

Sad to see many Westerners today celebrate the collapse of communism and say that those countries are better off now under capitalism, the same thing happened to Serbia after the fall of Yugoslavia, now Serbia is still suffering after the fall of communism, I feel bad for all the people who starved and died due to capitalism.

The situation in Romania was dire aswell during those years, but not as bad. The only reason for this were the economic reforms and privatization of enterprises that started earlier after the fall of Communism.

1:09 I got confused at first because in modern day 3500 leva is around £1750 but then I realized due to the extremely high inflation in 1997 it makes sense that 3500 leva = 2 dollars back then. ( 1997, 7 years after the Communist party was in charge Bulgaria was left in an Economic Crisis )

Yes some people are no longer starving but why don't you look at the whole country instead of one city...
Life is still unfair and it's not only Bulgaria that is suffering... Every single country that went thru communism now in Eastern Europe is suffering and young people are running away to live and not serve like sheep to some false system that doesn't work.
Those who stay will suffer unless they have connections aka being corrupted...

    • @MasterBlek
      @MasterBlek 4 роки тому

@@tonygarea7925 Capitalism sounds scary to the people who want free stuff but it's not.
It is funny how some janitor wants his children to go an expensive university but has a car and drinks alcohol all the time.
If you can afford the car and the alcohol then it's your fault that you can't afford the children that you made for fun.
Actually... It's all people's fault for the situation when they decided to be useless patriots and breed like rabbits in a nonfunctional country.
My advice is this: If you want to breed then go somewhere else so the children can thank you or give life to them in this hell and see their disappointment after that.
Capitalism can be tamed as long as you are ready to make sacrifices while communism will whip you your entire life until you kick the bucket...
Right now in Eastern Europe (that includes our stupid country) art is being treated like trash and people are keep making babies that will grow one day and leave as soon as possible so they can live as humans somewhere safe.
Look at Japan... Art and nature made them get waaaay more tourists every single year. Sadly the animators in Japan are being overworked and underpaid and that's unfair...
Eastern Europe could've worked on many great things but instead it just started selling cheap alcohol and drugs to tourists ... That means that our countries are trying to attract the low class people who would come to get drunk and make our reputation even worse.
Don't blame capitalism and blame communism instead that made us weak and let the wrong people to be in charge.
Blame your elders who never did anything to fight the living evil.
Blame your parents that decided that sex is waaaay more important than evacuating somewhere safe where their children can have a better education and life.
Speaking of educations and health services... Those two are basically a myth in Bulgaria! :D
being unemployed isn't fun but since I don't have connections I guess I will stay a freelancer and one day leave this stupid garbage that call itself "a country".
I have no desire to be treated like nobody while some janitor telling me that I should give up on my dreams and just become the next janitor instead... That is just cruel!
We all have human rights and if we are good at something it would be weird to let it go and pretend that "everything is okay" in a country where communists are still in charge.
The Prime Minister is basically a communist if you listen to what that bastard is saying.

@@MasterBlek As Tony states, look at the social indicators before, during and after socialism. For the working class majority, virtually all these indicators objectively demonstrate that living conditions and qaulity of life dramatically improved during socialism, and rapidly declined when it was overthrown. To blame the rise of alcoholism and social ills and individual, personal moral defecinices rather than the socio-economic context they occur in is really missing the big picture.
